  • WOOOW isn't he pretty *.*

  • 50s - elvis ,jerry lee lewis ,ricky nelson , chuck berry ; 2011 - lady caca ,beaver , lil wayne ,kate perry ....... our generation sucks , guys !

  • '50s - Ricky Nelson; 2011 - Lady Caca...please take me back; the world has become such an evil place!

  • I became a teenager in 1957, so I had the tremendous privilege of enjoying artists and music like this. None of the nonsense that we have to listen to today. I'd take one Ricky Nelson over 10 Lady Gaga's, thank you.

  • @1tepenga I'm a teenager right now. And i can tell you i would also take on Ricky Nelson over 10 Lady Gaga's. This is music, this is a voice! I love it.

  • Oro puro

  • This song would be perfect for a Fallout game.

  • I first heard this as a small child, on the Pulp Fiction album, and I've loved it ever since <3 <3 <3

  • It's sad he died so young, I just love every of his songs, such a wonderful singer...

  • My memories, although so many wonderful ones, with Ricks songs, were that he doubted his Talent, and never reallly accepted that he was Gifted, and struggeld with his fame, from T.V. etc.

His gentleness, and kind soul, ALWAYS came through, whatever his struggles, and we all have them.

NOTHING will ever change, the impact his songs, his heart, had on many of us, to be a BETTER person, than we were ,before we heard him.

  • what a dreamboat.

  • I'm dreaming, I'm in the Monument Valley, in the middle of the night... I stop the car and looking to the stars in the sky I hear this song in the radio. The infinite is over my head and Ricky's voice seems to sound everywhere, in the big lonely plains.

I'm crying there, but that's great because is the only moment I feel beauties that I can't explain with words.........I'm sad......... mourn is all I can do...

Ricky was so under-rated. Even by me until a month ago.

  • @laggar28 ask Woody Allan! In his new film you come into the 2oies in Paris!maybe he knows?

  • this song reminds me many things in spite that i was born after after after this song

  • Pulp Fiction

  • who is the hot guy sitting next to the girl?

  • @jhkl123456 his brother, David

  • This is an amazing song. It's quiet. It's quiet like nothing was back then. I mean, you listen to this song, and your mind is quiet because you're taking in the audio and the absence of extraneous noise. It's amazing. Reminds me a lot of Cowboy Junkies "Trinity Sessions" in its stripped-down-ness. Also reminds me of some Bowie. Amazing how much of an impact this song still has. Thank you Ricky!

  • It was at the time a HUGE television event to have "Little Ricky" sing & play a "real hit song" withIN the course & script of the Nelson family t.v. show, Ozzie & Harriet. Many hundred thousand of us swooning little girls watched that 1st broadcast in 1959 -- I was 12. Still swooning to this day.<3 & RIP Ricky. ~_~

  • he was BLOODY GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HOLY COW HE'S GORGEOUS!!!!!

  • TEMAZO.

  • What a dish!

That mans voice... i love the lyrics so sad but so easy to relate to :(

  • i fell in love with him

  • That is one of my favorite songs of his. The way he died I feel now he is in lonesome town.

  • Wow, this is so beautiful.

  • epic

  • He is so beautiful...oh my gosh, he's beautiful!!!

  • I think he was the most beautiful person that ever lived!! <3<3

  • at :58, Look like David is saying "Damn. I wish I could sing like my brother"

  • what a handsome man! uuuuummm

  • Ecouter puis entendre........lazik48

  • awesome reverb in that living room :)

  • The best part of the show was this--Ricky was so cool.

  • They dont write them like this anymore........

    Sad.

  • Ricky Nelson was my favourite. When I was yonug I won a competition to go swimming with Ricky and his cats. He insisted I was blindfolded.

  • "well that is swell rick" you can say that again

  • lol, if someone sang this at a party i dont think the responce would be "thats real swell rick yeaaaaaa" it would be more like "wow....something really happened to this poor guy".

  • this man is the man....

  • this man is the man....

  • This has got to be one of the sadest love songs ever. Nothin like it.

  • Today's Ricky's b-day, but he's dead now:(

  • May 8th...Happy 70th Birthday Rick!!!!!!

  • Fantástica canción, fantástico cantante...

  • OZzIE:::........"k now turn off the stereo Harriet ! so we could hear this guy"

  • love this song

  • kdj

  • Aw!!!!...He's dead!!!

  • awesome, just what i needed

  • beautiful.

  • MY MY!! My very first heartache, LOL!! My very first *teen* hit was Ricky's Teenage Idol at 13!! OH the memories!!! It's soooooooooo sad that the kids of today...have NO CLUE of what MUSIC is all about!!! I truly have to wonder WHO really is losing out on a childhood!!! It was harder times for us MAYBE...but, I don't think I would want to trade it for growing up in today's world EVER!!

  • Michael Jackson is the King of Pop. Elvis Presley is the King of Rock n Roll. Then RIcky Nelson must be King of Rockabilly! He deserved a recognition definitely!

  • @santalazy0 They called him the prince. Elvis may have been the king but Rick was the prince.

  • thanks for posting, this was one of the first singles I bought in the 50's , it sounded good on the juke box then, thanks again.

  • great song

  • yeah, he was a teen idol. but he also was an artist.

Elvis was a friend and fan of his. Probably because he knew of all the guys who were inspired by the King - Rick Nelson was the one with real talent.

  • He died too young!

  • There was a shooting 2 minutes ago near my house, this songs calms me down.

  • The Best Song EVER

  • Is Ricky Nelson still alive???? thx u.

  • @thisisnotyours1 Sorry, Rick died in a plane crash December 31, 1985.

  • it makes me cry ..really nice

  • The original Elvis voice was that of Bobby Darin...rite...as Bobby, Jerry Lee and female composer Johnny Mercer composed the original sound and songs of Elvis. Cause Bobby had a severe heart condition he had hired others to do Elvis, like an Elvis from Hawaii, An Elvis in the form of Roy Orbinson (son of Donald O'Connor) but few people know that Ricky Nelson also did Elvis.

  • Wow he sure was handsome...

  • I could look at those eyes and listen to that voice over and over.

  • golly gee willikers, what a swell song!!

  • I wish they still made songs like these. Ricky Nelson was one of a kind.

  • The best ballade ever...and ever.....<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • I know his dad & mom were very proud .

It's so good to see these old favorites again. He was a pretty boy.

  • I was born in 1953 and grew up watching Ozzie and Harriet every week. I had a big crush on Ricky, he was so good looking, and his singing was great!!

  • BRILLIANT!

They dont make them like this anymore.

Wish i could have been 17-18 during this time......

    What a time to live.

  • When he was around 18 years old here he was one of the best looking male celebrities ever.

  • wow..... i'm trying to focus on his music but all i can think is Holy crap his face is flawless O_O

  • @varkensleder Same here!

  • @varkensleder

I agree XD and I think he is the most good looking male with a great voice and talent x3 Oldies song and talents are the best XD the new age <__< kinda rushing and shucks

  • @varkensleder indeed he's beutiful O.o

but the music is just ... outstanding !

    poetry !

  • @varkensleder black and white + no smoking/drinking and in 5 years you ll be lawless 2 ;) if you would see the guy in todays time but at the same age he has in the video hed look different belief me..in hd time even he isnt flawless :( sometimes i wonder if we wouldnt be hapier without all that.....

  • @varkensleder it's the power of the 50's :D I love it!!!

  • He was my idol growing up. His looks were definitely incredible and he got better with age. Rick, you were taken from us way too early.

  • This couldn't have been a big hit. It was too introspective. Listen to it and it's not too far from "Garden Party," except "Garden Party" was a little more identifiably (but not entirely) current.

  • wrong ,big hit

  • @drewskee67 Sorry...big HIT...and classic song.

  • If he appreared on the Ed SullivanShow his popularity would have exploded???? He was incredibly popular in the late 50's and early 60's. Ozzie and Harriet was also on SUNDAY nights (as was Sullivan) on a DIFFERENT NETWORK. Ricky had plenty of exposure on TV EVERY week for FOURTEEN years, often singing his latest recordings. Like many other Amercian artists, he had trouble maintaining his popularity when the British Invasion came roaring in. Love Rick Nelson-RIP

  • @drysdale65 Ozzie & Harriet aired on Wed. nights, in the north east anyway. I don't think Rick could have gotten any bigger than he already was, lets face it, he was huge. His folks were mega huge before the show even began & already had a following. Honestly, I don't believe Sullivan could have increased his popularity at all.

  • @mikestheman3 I'll take your word for it. Wed it is! (memory isn't what it used to be I guess-lol) It was a diff network though-ABC vs CBS and I agree about appearing on Sullivan. It was great exposure on Sullivan for many new R and R artists, but American Baby Boomers grew up watching "little Ricky" every week on TV as he became a teen idol and major star. I remember being ticked off if he didn't sing at the end of the show, thinking I watched a whole 30min for nothing! lol

  • @drysdale65 i think he was overshadowed by elvis lol

  • great great....

  • gee golly yeah that's real SWELL Rick!!!

  • does anyone remeber the Pepsi commercial with this song in it?

  • what I meant below is that Ozzy, the dad, would not allow Ricky to go on Ed Sullivan. Going on Ed Sullivan would have pushed Ricky ahead of the pack. Ozzy selfishly allowed Ricky on the Ozzy and Harriett show ONLY.

  • Becoming a mega pop star doesn't always work out so well. Maybe his dad was actually looking out for him !

How many had their dream come true only to die young in some lonely, pathetic or bizarre manner like Presley, Jackson, Lennon or Nels...oooops...ok, never mind ...

  • Great music. I believe this may have been the only one who made Elvis a little nervous while away in Germany. This music and era is a picture of what is good about America. Just great music and a great era.

  • @monarkman1957 check out 1:22 on this video for your answer, as to why Elvis had nothing to worry about. Ricky's dad, Ozzy, at 1:22 selfishly kept Ricky's talents for his own TV show. Ricky was not allowed on Ed Sullivan. Had he appeared on Ed Sullivan, his popularity would have exploded. A controlling, selfish dad kept that from happening. Elvis was safe.

  • Thank you. I never realized that he was never on Ed Sullivan, and never realized that his dad kept him from other venues.

Sad indeed, this guy is a great talent.

  • In music, ones 'music' makes you - the exposure has more to do with hype than talent. Everyone was buying records back then, everyone knew who Ricky Nelson was. His popularity was what it was based on the music he made and the record buying pop fans tastes. Ed Sullivan wouldn't have made much of a difference IMHO one way or the other. A band like Led Zeppelin intentionally avoided publicity and, like 'em or not, made one of the most popular tunes of all time.

He did get air play, he was 'heard'.

  • What a beautiful man - you won't see his like again.

  • I'm comparable to him when I put effort into it and style my hair real well.

  • sick song

  • Way to go, Ricky! You are strictly from coolsville, daddy-o!

  • Pretty.

  • he's so cute

    :P

  • who cares? he was a great one .period

  • pulp fiction!!

  • just shut up I'm listening to the freakin' song

  • I fart rainbows

  • A perfect description of the United States.

  • Whats your problem? let me guess...Liberal? or foreign?

  • I'm neither. I'm the son of a Vietnam veteran who actually believed in the American dream. He should have fucked a shitload of people over and gotten rich. I'm also a fan of Ricky Nelson.

  • Lonesome Town was written by Baker Knight. His attempt to become a star in Hollywood had failed miserably and he was bummed. He banged out this song in a seedy motel room. He asked a musician he had met if he knew anyone who was looking for songs. He was told

Ricky Nelson was. It was big hit for Rick in late ' 58. Baker Knight wrote several other hits for Ricky as well.

  • From wikipedia: "Nelson experimented with marijuana early in his musical career, became a regular user, buried his stash in his yard, and supported marijuana's legalization. He tried mescaline, was a regular cocaine user and carried the drug in an empty ginseng capsule" :-)

  • Do you understand what Wikipedia is?: Anyone can post anything there.

  • Yeah I do and I also understand what cocaine is.

He even had cocaine in his system during autopsy after the plane crash.

    Deal with it!

  • Flash update,(from 20 years ago): That turned out to not be true. It's not even a subject of debate among those who pay attention.. Try some better sources than Wiki.

  • the drugs were not the cause of his death, but were in his system, sais the biography on his fanclub website. cheerio lazur1.

  • Realize this: That self-appointed, so-called 'fanclub' site is the ONLY place you'll find that info. It's not in --any -credible news source whatsoever. So where did this, (British, by the way), 'fanclub' get the info? Did they have a better connection to the coroner than any major news carrier? What should this tell you? : Your source is just like you: They wrote something they heard once, and because then it's 'in print', the next jerk believes it, too.

  • Fire in plane leads to crash.. Oh yeah! : That burnt, broken body's ready for a -toxicology- test. I mean, we've gotta find a cause of death, right? Maybe, just maybe, if Rick was the PILOT, that would be valid, to investigate the cause of the crash,(but still not likely to be physically possible). Funny how people believe whatever they read, as long as it's negative.

  • good to know you know better than wikipedia and the british ricky nelson fanclub combined. you happy now? why don't you start your own website with "facts not known to man, but to lazur1 exclusively".

  • 1/Wiki doesn't know: Its written by guys like you, who heard it somewhere. 2/ Self-appointed fan-clubs,(Who are they?) don't know, for same reason. & 3/ I DON'T KNOW! So, WHAT'S my point? Point is: I don't PRETEND to know. Autopsies won't show coke, that's tox. There's NO credible record of a tox test on Rick, no reason to do it, & it was probably not physically viable . What 'facts' did I post? NONE: All I did was demand proof for claims that aren't proven. They're still not proven.

  • please contribute your wisdom to wikipedia instead of youtube comments. don't be selfish.

  • Wisdom to not make claims I can't prove? That doesn't fit the Wiki format! Enuf about me, back to YOU: Wiki, 'fan club' sites, etc: WHERE do YOU think THEY get their info? They DON'T have reporters or investigators. AT BEST: They 'report' what was published elsewhere. AT WORST: They make it up. In this case, the 'news' was NEVER PUBLISHED by a credible sourse. (I know: You think the fan club is credible:-) SO WHERE DID THEY GET THE 'NEWS'? I SAY: Rumors, gossip & lies. What say you?

  • hello blabbermouth, the article that states cocaine was found on autopsy is from DISCoveries, Issue 61 (June 1993).

it's written by sandie johnson and refers to an interview with Kris Nelson in 1987. i think these people were closer to ricky than you ever were or will be. so i think it's time to give up and admit you're full of shit.

  • p.s. you don't know me, so please don't talk about 'people like me'. grow up. deal with yourself.

  • You started all the name-calling, (deleting posts won't help: I have them in email), & now YOUR feelings are hurt?: Live w/the results of your words & actions. "Guys like you": Guys who believe what they want to believe, pick, choose & cling to the flimsiest sources that support them, no matter how illegitimate they are proven to be. OH WAIT! That's not guys LIKE you, that's YOU. I've already dealt w/myself. I 'm moving on, to you. Call me some more names now, that always proves a lot.

  • Is Kris, hostile ex-wife, who did everything to undermine Rick, even in death, a credible news source? Is DISCoveries a credible news source? A crap source quoted by another crap source, then quoted by you, doesn't add up to "evidence". 'Autopsy' doesn't test for coke, tox does, so interview's inaccurate, DISCoveries' fact-checking's non-existant, & Kris is a bitch. But you wanna believe the worst, so you need to grasp at straws. (Thanks for the name-calling: It shows me who you really are.)

  • Fine, stick with your own belief. Remember you ASKED me for a better source than wiki, so I searched and came with answers. You called them vague sources so I came with date, name and publication. I'm giving you full service here! Still you know better than Ricky's ex-wife and a reporter who interviewed him. Truth is you make claims ("No matter how illegitimate they are PROVEN to be") you can't back up yourself. The only thing you've proven is being very self indulgent and prejudice.

  • Other sources that report Ricky's cocaine and marijuana habits are CNN, The R&R Hall of Fame and members of the Stone Canyon Band. All lies I'm sure. In fact, every source I find seems to write about Ricky's struggles with drugs. And yes, I'm just a fool who believes what he reads, in the case of Ricky Nelson, simply because I didn't know him personally I'll have to rely on written sources.

  • Quote from the article (maybe take time to read it before you start denying it's credibility): "The toxicologist's report at autopsy confirms that cocaine was in his system."

  • Thanks for response w/o insult or name-calling. Why couldn't you be like that in the 1st place? I never said Rick didn't use drugs, never said he didn't have drugs in his body at death. I said that all the reports of his body having drugs in it are thus far coming from less than credible sources. (Tox references the correct procedure, the source still isn't credible.) Such hurtful info should be impeccable, or not repeated. I can live w/a civil disagreement, but wont walk away from a fight.

  • He was so handsome.... And with a voice like that! /swoons

  • This song is amazing, he`s voice is amazing and this video is amazing... overall amazing.

Who is the author of the lyrics?

  • Televisions first American Teenage Idol! The first

to have music video numbers at the end of his family's TV show! 14 years it ran on TV, 1952-1966! Great Song! Ricky Nelson's answer

to Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel! Great Video!

  • I can not say for this song.handsome voice, vonderful vonderful vonderful vonderful...

  • Ricky had extreme good looks, a handsome voice, all the right instincts, & a dad who sped up his progress with good advice learned during his own successful career as a band leader. Today's singers could learn a lot from Rick, especially this: Pick a good tune and let it speak for itself.

  • wooooooooow <3 :D

  • hes so cuteeeee

  • It was determined to be from a faulty heater by the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board.

  • Plane crash....not drugs.
