i watched this movie so many times, but i think i'm finally realizing the ending..he(david) at the end, decides to wake up in the real life, but when he sees her(sofia) he's changing his mind, because realizes that he's madly in love with her, and he couldn't live in the real life without her(because after 150 years-she's dead), so he stays in the lucid dream to be with her, and hopefully this time his dream won't turn into a nightmare.

best movie ever imho. I find abre los ojos only beats it with some parts in the final scene. :) its so much more polished and the characters have a far greater chemistry.

For me, Abre Los Ojos is better but Diaz plays a better role as the seductress. Understandable really.

I'd been out one Friday night in about 2001 or so and channel-hopped into seeing Abre Los Ojos on Channel 4. I must have stayed up until about 2am watching this film and it affected me for the entire weekend.

What compounded it was that on the Saturday evening, my mate & I went to watch a film at the cinema and it was full, so we watched Open Your Eyes instead. When I told him I'd seen it in Spanish the night before on C4, he didn't believe me!

To me, this is the most moving fictional film.

I thought the whole movie was based on lucid dreaming and that Julie was just in his dreams. Don't understand what sleeping with a girl in your dreams has to do with cheating. But I have never seen the movie, I have only been told it is about lucid dreams.

One of the best written movies i've seen. i can definitely see why it didnt appeal to a lot of people though. i particularly liked the reference to the monet painting. impressionist artwork like his focuses on "dreamlike" experiences - very fitting.

he was in a coma...

It began the second the accident happened and ended right at the end when he heard someones voice (doctor,nurse?) say "David, Open your eyes." People who suffer severe head injuries at a time in their life where they feel incomplete, guilty over past actions, or jus plain confused often fall into comas in order to try and hang on to life to try and fix it. Of course he was unawhere of this so his mind created a dreamlike sci-fi explaination (lucid dream) for it.

Hey glad you enjoyed it =) I used a program called DVD encryptor to rip the VOB files and then I converted them with virtual dub in a huffy codec, then Premiere Pro the rest of the way =)
