  • One of my 3 favorite groups to come out of Oklahoma, the other two being the Flaming Lips and Caroline's Spine. I'm danged pround to be an Oklahoman. The place is a good bit more diverse than many out-of-state folks think.

  • Best singers...

  • This is all symbolic in Ezekials vision regarding Israel's exile in Babylon, that they would be awake again and have hope, not physically as they were already living, but spiritually speaking. Ezekial 37:1-10. Ezekial saw the valley of bones come together, cover with flesh and then breathe. Intense huh?

  • Yeah, this is a classic, and I really dig that classic harmony. But, the thing that caught my ear how the tone of the song (or whatever they call it) takes the elevator to the top floor, then goes back down to the first. Love that:)

  • After listening to this song I suppose I don't have to make my biology practises anymore xD.

    Nevertheless, a nice song:P

  • god my mom was right, i am re-encarnated, i like the lollypop song, dry bones, a lot of old songs, and im a 14 year old kid for god sake!

  • That's how it is, living in a society where youngsters are discouraged from cultivating themselves and fed with crazy frog and hanna montana instead.

  • Nothing wrong with that. You grew up in a good era.

  • Home schooled.

  • @averageskill

I hear you man, nobody in my high school has even heard of Django Reinhardt or Benny Goodman.

  • @averageskill Who doesnt love the lolypop song!!!

  • @averageskill Nah, you just grew not exactly to be in this years... and find the 40's and stuff more comfortable like sort of i do as well

  • @averageskill No, you just haven't developed a musical taste yet.

  • @IamNaphula Maybe I was a bit harsh...but your comment seemed a little mean.

  • @averageskill i am the exact same way, i want to bring back the 50's society.

  • @averageskill What other artist do you like. I like that old southern gospel too. Like Elvis Presley.

  • @averageskill Lucky you! You've got a whole lifetime to enjoy great music. Go for it - and ignore those who decry your taste, what do they know! :-)

  • C O O L

  • Yeah, I was 18 when I discovered this song with Rain Man too. So much fun to sing. Classic accapella!!! Love it!

  • this is a true story. read your Bible.

  • the bible is fiction :-)

  • Now hear the word of the Lord...maybe you are

  • Believe it, don't preach it.

  • I knew it...THAT'S where Herman

Munster got the idea for his song, LOL

Great harmonizing though..these guys went right up and down the scale, w\o a wrong note. Classic!

  • I know. There seems to be no good singing anymore.

  • we have to sing this in chorus i goof around a lot. lol

  • keeping a polite smile for so long must have been tiring

  • I remember this from the last episode of " the prisoner " when he escaped ! so wonderful!!

  • I've been listening to this song and "All you need Is love" after watching that episode.

  • Isnt this song sortof featured in the Lucasarts game Monkey Island 2?

  • how appropriate. you fight like a cow

  • What can be said but "Praise the LORD!"

    Elihu

  • I'm a doctor, not a singer (said Bones)

  • splendid!

  • taigaooma、"である; shit"。 行く方法!

  • That's right! I remember that, the ending of the entire mysterious series was so unbelievably vague! I was about six when my dad showed me the serieses, and I had no bloody CLUE what was going on! "Why is he a gorilla?" was my first thought about the vagueness... And the Prisoner is the first time I heard it, too. In fact, the reason I scoured Youtube for this song was because I remembered the Prisoner. Wow, my dad did something right for once; showed me the Prisoner.

    ~~Nemzal~~

  • i remember this from the prisoner too, it was great! :-)

  • 昔から、ジョーダン?音楽好きですけど、Lennon・Sも動画あるなんて、趣味いい!!!!

  • I remember this song from the show "the prisoner"

  • Now,..HEAR!! the Word of the LORD!!!

  • can you put a lyric here on youtube cuz i want to kno it and memorize it..pls im 12

  • I sang this to my great niece who's 5 and she hung on every word! lol. I did the same thing when I was 5. I grew up listening to a Delta Rhythm Boys album my parents had.

  • is it so easy to sing so well? it seems so. great voices.

  • Ohhhh yeah...i like this music

  • Great song! But somethin else:Delta Rhythm Boys song `Grandpa`s Strawhat` (Made in Finland)

  • Wow!!! What a blast from the past. Just in time for halloween too! Great harmony.

  • What a great performance! Real tight harmonies.

  • that camera panning up and own is hilarious!

  • This is great; I need to memorize this!

  • are these guys still singing?

  • Short answer: No.

    Long answer:

The group were formed in 1934. They continued to perform until Otha Lee Gaines's (one of the members) death on July 15, 1987.

  • oh :(

which one of them is Lee Gaines in this video?

  • Gaines & Lee had moved to Sweden (where the group were huge stars-more famous, in fact, than in the U.S.). I learned of them yesterday, while watching an old NBC evening news clip. (You can see it on Vanderbilt University's television news archive h*t*t*p /*/* tvnews . vanderbilt . edu) Bryant's death was sad and bizarre! He told someone at Gaines' funeral, that he would soon be joining Gaines in heaven; he collapsed and died while giving Gaines' eulogy.

  • I forgot to add, leave out the * in the address. I just put them in, because youtube won't allow the posting of web addresses for some reason.

  • I 1st heard of the Delta Rhythm Boys the other day, while browsing Vanderbilt University's news archive. I didn't know they did work w/ Ella Fitzgerald. Their music was cool. Gains' & Bryant's deaths were bizarre though; At Gains' funeral(July 22nd), Bryant told someone " I'll soon be joining Lee." He died while giving Lee's eulogy. U can see the(funeral)news clip, at H*t*t*p*/*/*tvnews . vanderbilt. edu Once there, type "Delta rhythm boys," in the "search" heading. You need to have realplayer.

  • Halvan maukasta lakritsaa!

  • The lyrics are just pure genius

  • nice..but herman munster sang it best! i do like this version though..very catchy! :)

  • or did they not write it?

  • no, they didn't. it's a traditional spiritual

  • It's a cool rhythm & song musically, but why is this a song? It's kinda odd to have them singing seriously about such an odd topic. Anyone know why they decided to write such a song?

  • Yes, Ezekiel is an old testament prophet, MikeofPete and Cricketboy1200 are absolutely right.

  • TRUE HARMONY. I LOVE THIS!

  • 5 and that's all!

  • Best yet, that's all it takes...

  • I learned to sing this song in High School Glee Club..of course, there were 50 voices or so doing it back then, but this version really sets it!!!

  • I learned to sing this song in the late '60's in High School Glee Club...of course it was done then with 50 or so voices, a bit different than a Quartet, but this is much better..it has a real feeling...

  • it's strange seeing singers just stand there. i guess they usually recorded with a single microphone and it was the standard then. if singers just stood around today, it would look awkward.

  • AMAZING SONG!

  • My 5 year old loved this, the chorus is in a book she has about a skellington family...

  • my grade 1 teacher used to teach us the simple structure of the human body using this song :)

  • Ezeikiel? who's ezeikiel? oh well! A+!

    5/5*

  • A biblical prophet methinks. Couldnt find enough just men alive ti fight for his cause, so he raised an army of the dead, buried in the desert (DRY bones :)

but i might be absolutely wrong on this one.

  • he was a prophet which the Jewish think very highly of, and is celebrated each year at passover

  • God sent him to the valley of the Dry Bones.

  • das lied ist auch in meinem englisch buch!

  • GREAAATTT!!!!

  • Heavenly!

  • just great, just as good as any southern gospel group...great A+++++++

  • the more I watch it, the better it seems...

  • Delicious ! What a perfect song! sung by excellent singers !!!!

    great :D

  • This is great; I need to memorize this! XD The guy with the deep voice at the end is the best!

  • I love this song and vid... It's one of my all time favs.

  • I sang this song in High School Glee Club in '68 or '69, and these guys are an inspiration to this day!!!

  • there so much better at this song than my choir =P

  • Fuck man...thats perfect..i love it :)

  • I think this is the same group whose recording of Dry Bones was used in The Prisoner, except the version on TV uses a faster arrangement.

  • No. That was a group called "7 plus 2".

  • great
