1) He got almost nothing invested compared to the rest of their stacks

2) His tells tell him he aint got it.

3) Judging from the movie, Teddy = DONK, so searching for a better spot is optionable.

4) Rough Play, AKA cheating possibilities.

This scene, reminds me of a friend of mine I play regularly with. He's got a tell sometimes when he raises with a big hand. I always know to fold (unless I hold the nuts in which case I go all in). He's had the tell for quite a while now, but I don't tell a soul.

@mvallin The tell has to be pretty obvious or the lay audience wouldn't get it without an internal monologue wherein Mike explains how he got a read on Teddy ... which they don't do for this and other big hands to maintain tension. It's a pretty reasonable use of poetic license/demand on the viewer's willing suspension of disbelief.

Set? Nobody had a set. That's a hidden three of a kind. Granted, I would have thought he had a set after a raise on the flop because it's profitable to bet one, he figured dude had 2,4; which is beyond me. I would consider it, but not put him on it. And with two pair, it may have been profitable to see the turn and river. Damon could have chased the full house, but you've either got to commit yourself to chasing, or folding. Folding is more profitable in the long run. It was a good play.

This is just to show how much he changed compared to past. Back then, when he hit 2 pairs like beginning of the movie, he got fucked. But now, he's able to fold 2 pairs and get away from it. That's what this scene was trying to teach. This scene is trying to show that Matt improved a lot and has skills to prove himself in Vegas.

An impossible lay down. Teddy could of acted strong if he had a weaker two pair or even ak. a3 35. Even the same hand a5. Hard to lay down in a 9 handed game let alone heads up. Even Phil Hellmuth on the special speatures on the dvd explains this. He explains in that situation it's almost impossible to lay that down.

KGB, or ANY real player would know exactly what is going on with that look of "omg, i just figured him out... he eats cookies slowly when he is comfortable with his hand"
