Thank you so much for uploading this! I've been searching for a post Raised on Radio tour version of this song. I was hoping at some point the band brought back one of their best songs! Great camera work for 1998, thanks.
Giving this the thumbs down is not gonna bring Steve back - and I doubt Steve's on here looking for thumb's down on live recordings he didn't sing on. Why can't some people just enjoy this w/o the baggage and just take it for what it is (in this case a well delivered performance)?
im so sick of these people saying no steve no journey. augeri did a great job with journey he kept the journey going for this band and he did a fantastic job. Perry is to busy sitting at his house doing nothing but lying to you people saying he is going to be back soon and never does lol. you cant replace his voice but u can replace his attitude i here he was a class a ass hole.
Randy Jackson made Journey. When he joined them for the tour he kicked things up a notch and this became the greatest touring enitity bar none. Without Randy Journey would have never existed.
Arnel= Gay Pinoy houseboy to rich Middle Eastern man! Now, we can all get really ignorant right, just stooping to your level! Stop dissing people who made the way for others to follow!
Oh my God No comparison to Steve Perry's voice. I don't know why they keep on getting these people to be lead singer. Steve Perry Is the Voice of Journey
Oh my God No comparison to Steve Perry's voice. I don't know why they keep on getting these people to be lead singer. Steve Perry Is the Voice of Journey
I think Augeri did a very good version here. It is more solemn in tone, less upbeat, but he punched it out nonetheless. I am hopelessly hooked on Perry, but Augeri deserves a lot of credit.
Augeri didn't do such a bad job here. He put emphasis on the wrong words in the wrong places, but other than that, it was okay. They wore him out vocally. I think Journey has already tuned down a half step for Arnel, to try and keep the same thing from happening to him. Singing these songs in such a high register night after night, is hard on anyone. Even Steve Perry admitted by the end of the Raised On Radio Tour, he was toast, from all the touring.
augeri sux azz! There is only 1 Steve Perry to do this song. augeri doesnt have the energy that Steve Perry brought to the stage. this xerox wanna be just stands there and tries to kariokie Steve Perry songs.
Augeri did a good job on some of the songs. I really like his version of Separate Ways but this is not one on the better songs. Steve Perry was a hard act to follow.
jesus christ!!!!!! if i hear one more cheap copy of the myth, the man,,,,god....the legend....steve perry...im gonna kill myself. please perry come back and put these douchebag copycats to shame.........
for NCFLbabygirl - as long as Steve's contacts with Journey band members are through his lawyers, I'm never going to watch or buy anything a band calls Journey puts out!
I think this sounds pretty awesome personally. :) I miss Steve Auguri. never heard much with JSS but apparently he was good too. I would love to hear this song in the setlist more often tho. Always been a favorite of mine ;)
Steve Augeri was the best replacement they were going to get. They screwed themselves by not waiting for him. There is no one better than Steve Perry. Although I did see Journey with Steve Augeri, and he was good.
Everybody here has good points. We, the fans, are the ones left holding the emotional baggage out of all this...Perry got screwed, but Journey needed a singer who could work. Augeri isn't as good, but he gave it a helluva run--then HE got screwed. ... Arnel Pineda? God, I hope neal and John don't kill him, too!
for jerichoe - give Schon and Cain a couple of months and they'll screw Arnel, too. Nobody lasts very long with Journey since Steve left, especially if they might be better than Schon and Cain-they don't want somebody singing that is more popular and a better musician than they are - like Steve Perry was.
I couldn't agree more!! I was just trying to be nice in my last post..
The reason Perry got out was because Schon and Cain were burying him under MOUNDS of road work..I already feel sorry for that Filipino Arne, who sounds eerily like Perry, I must admit)...
Steve has about 7 years, from 1977-1983, of touring before he took a break. I think Augueri has 8 years, so technically I guess that's the time span it takes to wear out a vocalist vocal cord singing those high notes...the turnover is inevitable for a band to stay playing live for people. personally I rather hear them live even without perry because I love the music. And Journey is to me the sum of parts.
The guy is good. It is hard for an instrumentalist to get into live touring shape overnight, triple hard for a singer. They just worked the guy into the ground
Hey jblai05, journey found another lead singer - Arnel Pinea, who sounds the closet to steve perry. If you miss the perry sound, you will definitely enjoy the Journey concert in 2008. Check out their new album, revelation, has some good stuff and good new song. I esp like "after all these years" another classic ballad.
What a joke! Who does this idiot think he is? He has no right TRYING to sing this song!! I mean TRYING. He stinks big time! All these losers think they can match Perry. Give up!!!
Well, he's trying hard anyway. We can't help it if Perry's such a tough act to follow. BTW, he's getting a lot of help from Jonathan.

Yeah, he pretty well stinks... This successful road was paved long before he walked on it... This group needs to change their name to JourneyLESS...

It's not Journey without Steve Perry. Admirable attempt, but comes up short.

Ok, my problem with Augeri was never his voice it was great but he would mess up the words to much and that would take away from the song for me

Dont' cry for S. AUgeri - he signed on for 1 of the toughest vocal jobs on the planet. I'm sure he has a few bucks to show for his 'suffering.'
so far haven't found another Perry out there... Journey is best left in the past i fear... A moment in time... All greatness must pass...
