wow! these guys really interact tight! they are so eager to make sth out of every idea, they virtually snap them out of each other's hand. and at the same time they're so energetic and precise and calm.... they really liberated the masters within :-)
Great group, Lincoln its an awesome bass player. I saw him here in Mexico when he came to play with the Hector Infanzon group. Even with the crappy audio of the forum Lincoln was in the pocket all the time.
You think this band sound so mechanical? Oh come on...?! Only stupid no brainer people say that people from Berklee so mechanical instead in pocket. And only people who have brain go to Berklee because they know how to play in pocket and play with "knowledge". Even English language you have to learn it in the school not just you hang out in the neighborhood and learn how to speak english. You have to learn and study the proper way to speak better english. Music is the same thing.
3toso is right. mechanical hearing will be like a receptor of mechanical aspects of any kind of performance. that will be the responsible of you not being able to pick up the nuances of different styles or a new rhythm. when you dont listen to jazz often, it can/might be hard to pick up but still can be very enjoyable. Still, personal taste is the worst critic. never think you got all you need in your portable media player. if you like polka, jazz, bonsai trees or cooking then study study study
these aren't students. about 7/8 of the school are terrible players. but most of the others are good engineers/business people/arrangers/synthesists/whatever.
Why so many people claim berklee's students are mechanical? Man, their playing is marvelous!!!!!!!!! Whether they sound mechanical or not is a matter of personality and that has nothing to do with Berklee. They provide people with the tools, and those use guys use them.
To sound great you need first that "mechanical" knowloedge.
Great stuff!! The only problem with Berklee's people is that everyone turns to be so mechanical, instead of like great pocket and stuff.. kinda too bad

I love Lincoln's tone, but does anyone else hear the "G" string rubbing against the pickup? Beautiful soloing and phrasing though.
