  • PLEASE HELP..I HAVE A VOLVO S60 T5 AND WHEN YOU TAKE OFF WITH HARD ACCELLERATION YOU HEAR THE TURBO SPOOL UP THEN IT DIES,YOU CAN GIVE IT MORE GAS AS THE TURBO DIES & IT KICK IN A LITTLE THEN DIES AGAIN,ITS SO FRUSTURATING PLEASE ANYBODY HAVE ANY SOLUTIONS OR ANYTHING I CAN TRY?? THERE IS A CECK ENGINE LIGHT BUT ITS fuel vapor leak

  • @nighttrain334 check out swedespeed (dot) com and post there

  • @vmaxx55 Ok i will ,thanks alot bro,Its a problem with it nobody cant figure out,I even put it on a machine cost me 100bucks,and only thing came up was a fuel evap leak and i fixed that by putting a new fuel cap on,so ill check it out and thanks again!!

  • @nighttrain334 good luck

  • I've got the older C70 T5, you're making me bursting to get it remapped now! This will wipe the floor with most things except the occasional M5 or similar!

  • nice i went 137mph in my s40 t5 2004.5

it didnt even take me 15 sec.

  • I also have an volvo s40 1.6 110 hp .... On a highway I reached 256 km per hour !

only 110 hp ! its so quiet ! but the engine makes a great sound... 0-100 km only 5 seconds

  • My D5 can't do a shit with your T5

  • Originally 194KW and with ECU tuning (seen in the clip) 242KW

  • @moabohed is your car front wheel drive?hows the handling with the power? and is the redline increased by the ecu tuning?:) pity that most volvos are fwd, i would've put so much more power into the s40 t5 if i got the awd one :) cos these t5 engines are just mean:)

  • My mum has a S60T5, guess she got a bit freaked out when me and my bro switched the ECU and tuned it to 300Hk+ - lol.

NIce car, is that the 250HP one?

  • @artilur It is the 260hp one..., ECU tuned to 325bhp and 445nm / 328lbs/ft

  • @moabohed 184KW?

  • @moabohed petrol consumption before and after tuning?

  • @tiperva Pretty much the same if driven the same way but if you use every horsepower there is, then the consumption goes up a little bit...

But the fun you get with this car when it's tuned is worth every drop of gasoline...

  • @moabohed thanks :D i must buy that car next year

  • i have a 02 s60 t5. the things iv done to it is switch the oil to mobil 1 5-30, changed the trany fluid, put a cone filter on, and choped the muffler off. i run the o to 100 in the same time 6 seconds it is at 11 psi in 1st gear and seconds gear its also automatic meaning its going to shift at 6200 rpm every time. that's not bad. in the next 6 months ill get the ipd down pipe and softloader. then ill be riping

  • Asså man måste bara älska Volvo s60 t5 :-)

  • o yeah does the sound system have alot of bass and get loud

  • im think ima going to get one before you got the upgrades what was your highest rpm and how is it on gas

  • thats how u drive a car!!

  • @prozack678

    :-)

  • i own a v70 t5 1997 chipped, fast flow exhaust (stainless)3.5inch all through, an i can wheel spin at 95mph,towing a caravan i still race people at the lights 90% win rate !!!

  • Volvo-4-life whate else 2 say my uncle is the biggenst in volvo holland , i like the safety, extrme power and beauty off all the volvo cars!!

  • hi,

    you really know your car.

    great videos.

i wanted to ask you... many reviews say that the steering is a little isolated on the s60, how would you describe it.. is it precise and direct, what kind of feed back it gives..

i think you have a better alternative over the s60r , and without the problems associated to the awd

    thanks in advance

  • @aaronciviris the steering is "isolated". the fact is they put to big of wheel on the car... but i found that 10 mm wheel spacers fix that up and also give it a nice look. my steering is very tight i have the polly engine and trany mounts and they made the body flex to a minimal. id still reather have the R though..

  • very quick

  • I mean, between this and the 2.0 T is there a big difference in fuel consumption ?

  • Hi, I really consider buying one of these. Can you please tell me what urban consume does it have?

  • The best thing is when you have a V70 T5 because everybody thinks thats just some family car with 150hp. I dont have the T5 label on mine so only an expert can tell it is a T5 because of the Rims and the sound. It is priceless to see the faces of those ricer boys in there R32's, S4's...... They just can't believe it. My V70 looks bone stock from the outside so it is a pure sleeper. With 340hp and the high NM you can beat some serious cars especially on the highway.

  • Nice

  • whats the technical difference between a 2.5 turbo and 2.3 t5?

  • 2.3 T5, 2.4 T5 and 2.5 R.... high pressure turbo plus several engine components are different

2.5 turbo (not R) low pressure Turbo

  • stock how much boost does the 2.5t run? 1bar or .5 bar?

  • 0.45-0.55

  • in south africa

  • Ipod Man how do i get a upgrade like this ?

  • Iam quite ashamed I shifted early. moabohed shifts at the right spot at the end of the RPM range. I didnt. I just have the software for one week now so maybe thats why :-)

  • Comment removed

  • christo.. It does.. I just had a custom software tuning done to mine. Some swedish friends made it. With the JT 3" catback and the software it goes like a charm. See yourself.... I just put a video on when I drove home from a business trip, in germany ;-)......

  • T5's fuckin kiss ass!

  • What can you do to T5s to make a bit faster:??

  • ya I need to know this too, since I just purchased a 2001 S60 T5 :)

  • Chip, ecu upgrade, exhaust + filter, etc. theres alot of stuff. my volvo got over 500hp on a 2.3l engine.

  • Well... the 2005+ S60/V70 T5 is unlocked to 7000 RPM and also the Vmax is unlocked which means it can go 275 km/h+......

The S60/V70 R is unlocked to 7200 RPM and will make 285 km/h.... This figures are for TME not for MTE but i think they have the same figures concerning vmax and RPM.... MTE gets out more HP though....

  • whats the point of locking speeds and rpms ANYway?

  • Nanth i have a 2005 S60 T5 and am considering just to do a chipset?would this make big difference you think >?

  • i got a volvo 850T-5R with 250horses 0-100kmh in 6,1sec and i can go 7000rpm?:D

  • @larsmagda I would be a little bit afraid of running chip+7000 RPM in 2.3 T5. The 2005 has forged pistons and rods so it takes the power easily. It can be tuned to approx. 400 hp without chaning any Parts. Just use a fully synthetic oil (I use Mobil1 0W-40 Protection Formula or 5W-50 Rally Formula in mine) and don't switch off the engine immediately after flooring it and this thing lives "forever"...

  • Wow, sweet.

    I can't go a lot over 6000RPM with mine.

  • was that flooring it!?

  • Pretty much..., but it was cold outside so I had problems with grip in the 0-80 interval... The test was done with a little hole in one of the hoses to the intercooler and perhaps it affected the results a little bit...?

  • hm. is a hole in the intercooler something serious you should get taken care of asap? and its just that the engine doesnt sound like it was floored so thats why i asked. i guess the t5 is "floor-friendly" lol. --but oddly this is faster than an s60 r....

  • My S60 T5 with only a ECU upgrade:

    Aprox. 325bhp and 445nm / 328lbs/ft

    weight= 1560kg /3439lbs

    13% transmission loss (FWD)

    S60R:

    300bhp and 400Nm

    Weight = 1675kg

    21% transmission loss (AWD)

This is why my T5 is faster from than the R...

(off the line the R is a bit faster due to the AWD)

  • oh thats awesome!! how much power can u get the s60 t5 up to? like, with whatever upgrades you want..

  • Search for " volvo s60 autotech "...

That car has now 541 hk / 697 Nm...

It uses E85 (85% ethanol based fuel)

  • yeah i just looked it up, wow that was uhhhhhhhh.

    heh.

    insane!!!! :D

  • is ther any way to upgrade s40?

  • That's right. You don't have the parasitic drain of the AWD @ higher speeds so you're able to tap into your top end much further & since the T5 is a torque monster, you'll have no problems fighting wind gusts & such.

  • wow you were right beyond the redline

  • 6 seconds. God DAMN.

  • Your T5 is a bomb ,is value for money compared 2 german bmw or merc cz this car is quite comfortable n powerful for that price range of course a similar powered beemer n merc is alot better in terms of build quality but price n overall this car is not 2 far off hats off

  • how can i do a ecu remap to my V40 T4?

    i wanna hit 300hp!

  • To hit 300hp in a T4 you need to change turbo, fuel injectors, comlplete exhaust system with racing cat, fuel pump and a few things more...

With only an ECU upgrade and a cat-back system you can hit about 245hp...

  • how much would it cost a ECU upgrade and what is a cat-back system?

    i wanna hit 250hp then!!

    thanks for your help.

  • Check from BSR website.

They have couple of upgrade packages there.

The stock 14T turbo runs out of the steam around 250-260bhp (only the best tuners can get those numbers though)

  • your T5 is awesome... +/- 20 sec 0-200! realy good! about 300cv?

  • He's shifting gears to slow and at wrong RPM.

  • OK...perhaps to slow...

    But at wrong rpm?

I have peak horsepower at 5800rpm and it only backs off about 10bhp up to 6800rpm.

I rew it a bit past peak bhp just to gain a faster spool up on the turbo when I hit next gear...

  • All Volvo T5s are deceptively fast, and I mean really fast.

I have sat in one before, and you don't even realise how fast you are moving because it's so quiet and majestic.

    Love this swedish car.

  • Quite and Majestic?....ermm.... ok... i left Volvo a few years ago due to the oposite...NOt quite, and NOT Majestic in any way..ok,some models as for exemple T5 runs smooth as hell, but thats it.

After (convinced to try by a friend) finally put my ass in a German car i finally found the solid quality and "Majestic" feeling ;)

    But Volvo?????...

  • lol volvo rulez ...its one of the best cars around the world

  • @Arcticclaws I second that, volvo's are very good. I have a v40 2.0t and when I do 160km/h I sometimes ask a passenger: "how fast you think we are going" and most of the time they say 120-130 cause they know I drive fast alot :P but it realy feels like am not going so fast atall. Unless i speed up to about 180+ then the car start shaking a bit. It's got 310k+ KM's and 3 women owned them before I did the last 10k KM's. They really smashed up the car. Rear suspension is half gone and ful of dents.

  • Its pretty fast but not a monster :D

  • this is awd?

  • Its fast up to 170 after that in the 4 gear its kind of slow

  • I have only spent about 500$ tuning my car so I think it's a pretty good "bang for the buck" with that in mind...

A BMW E46 M3 Coupé and equal cars have to struggle pretty hard leaving me beind... :-)

  • Well 4 about 500 dolalrs you get 50 bhp

In total 300 so I dont thinkt a M E46 has any problems.

Its when you get 350 bhp u kick any M car. I know I had a T5 with 340+ bhp

Bur u got a fast car , that i must say

  • How much power does this ecu give? I am thinking of getting an S60 T5, and I was looking at a couple of different choices, also how much torque? I am looking at one that already has a cold air and a catback, so it would probably a pretty decent amount.

  • Aprox. 325bhp and 445nm / 328lbs/ft

    S60 weight= 1560kg /3439lbs

    /J

  • Great Car... I Own two Volvos myself... But you should not rev it so high!! It's a good engine but without serious mods of it you should not rev it into the red area. With serious mods you can rev it even near to 8000 but then you would have to invest more than a used s60r would cost.

  • Why are you reving it so high?

  • My ECU mod has raised the rpm limit to 7300rpm and i you look at the clip you can see that it does not become weaker above 6000.

In fact..., it pulls like crasy up to 7000...

    I also need 6300rpm to reach 200km/h in 4-gear...

I also need to land above 4000rpm after each shift just to get a fast spool-up on the turbo.

But ok..., perhaps 6500-6700 would be optimal combined with a fster shift...

  • I only asked because the real redline is 6500rpm, Volvo suggests 6000rpms, and they play it safe by saying in the manual it is 6200rpm.

  • you say the only upgrade is the ecu but that one upgrade adds loads of power.

  • Now imagine an S60R with an upgrade like that (too bad you can only pull it up to 340 or so... or 380 with some other minor upgrades)

  • You can pull a S60R up to about 358bhp with a full flow exhaust with race cat and ECU upgrade...

To reach 380-400 you have to do a lot more...

If I use the green "R" injectors and a full flow exhaust with race cat combined with a ECU upgrade I will have about 354bhp in my T5.

I will still be the faster car due to less weight and transmission loss in the T5.

FWD have 11-13% transmission loss and AWD have 19-23%.

    S60 T5 weights 1540kg and the S60R 1675kg.

  • This gives:

    S60 T5 (my car wit only ECU upgrade): 325bhp -- 12% = 286bhp on the wheels

S60R (with full flow exhaust system and ECU upgrade): 356bhp -- 21% = 281bhp on the wheels

Now look on the weight of the cars...

    S60 T5: 1540kg and 286bhp gives 5,38kg/bhp

    S60R: 1675kg and 281bhp gives 5,96kg/bhp

    I have never lost a race to a sub-400bhp S60R...

Off the line and up to 60mph the R is faster due to the AWD but above 60 I will leave him behind.

  • And if I use the green "R" injectors and a full flow exhaust with race cat combined with a ECU upgrade I will have about 354bhp in my T5 and it would make it pretty mean for a small amount of money.

  • is that chipped or is it stock? my parents have v70 t5 geartronic 2005 chipped. it has 329hp or the dyno paper is wrong.

  • It a stage-1 ECU upgrade...

    Aprox. 325bhp and 445nm / 328lbs/ft

    S60 weight= 1560kg /3439lbs

  • NICE I think is as fast as a S60R or maybe yours is faster.

  • I have never lost a race against a S60R.

From a standing start I loose about one car length (AWD on S60R) but after that... BYE...BYE...! :-)

  • åh jäklar, visste inte att en volvo kunde låta så vackert.

  • is it 5 or 6 speed manual?? i think in the end of the vid you are in 6th.very nice vid !!

  • I shift into...

    2:gear at 60

    3:gear at 110

    4:gear at 165

    5:gear at 210

6:gear not used in the vid... :)

The gearbox is called M66 and it is a 6-speed (the same as in the S60R but without AWD)

  • Shift it when it is 6000rpm and make it fast (do not trash the clutch by the way) Then you will see the difference.

  • Insanely fast!
