Lol, your story is a very simple, honest one, and yes, those were simpler times....back then when eq was new, people genuinely wanted to help each other, now that mmo's are everywhere, people take it all for granted.

I met alot of ppl on Fennin Ro server stayed there till eq2 went onto the guk serer think it was toxx before they merged the realms but most the ppl i knew on eq1 moved to eq2 there as well friends made in eq ussually stay friends even after you quit playing im still friends with almost all my old guildies

The sounds of the original EQ1 tap such a deep level with me (I played in beta).

The wilderness sounds here draw me in.

The last time I played EQ1, it was because I watched a youtube video of Blackburrow and the gnoll howls were just too much to resist. :p

cool video. totally agree w/ you about how crazy the danger factor was in that game, and it made the playing experience so much more rewarding. playing star wars, wow, etc, the risk vs reward is just retarded. give me a huge death penalty and a corpse run any day. lmao @ 8:19.

@Genralix The graft here are post Luclin. The difference was in the UI. Original UI had a grey (silver) layout with a viewport for 3D interactions and a bottom parchment paper coloured /chat UI. Most of the changes (aside for the Luclin better graft) were made on the models for the races.

I just love the sounds in this game. At first I thought it was just nostalgia, but the ambient music etc really is quite good. And the monsters all sound so hilarious. Always loved the skeletons crazy arse laughter.

Back when this was recorded I think p1999 had some newer graphics, but now I believe everything is how it was in class. they even have the classic wolf/skeleton models.

I can seriously cry thinking back to my old days of Everquest. I miss the people.. I guess. Just started back playing, it's not the same but I still <3 EQ.

One thing i believe helps kill mobs is being on even ground with them. I could be wrong but it always seems to me if you drag them to flat ground they die faster. Something modern day EQ doesn't do anymore.

Are there any servers with original EQ and level select and any item selection /w pre-nerf items? I want to try out this game, but I don’t want to start from scratch - I don’t have the time. I also heard the original didn’t require minimum levels for gear & weapons.

This was the best part of my early highschool career lol. I came in the early days. Eventually hit wow in 2006, but im goin back to my roots. Nothing will ever be what Everquest was. I've never fallen in love with a game with such depth. Gonna go kill the AoW for old times sake : )
