  • I’m happy with my 325i, but the only performance mods are sport suspection and the Signature Motoring performance intake for about $150. Signature Motoring kit adds around 9HP on the dyno, great sound, and the best performance upgrade for the money. See my channel videos!

    -Adds 9HP average

    -Never replace filter again (uses K&N filter)

    -GREAT SOUND

    -Installs in maybe 30-45 min. K&N filter lasts a lifetime.

    1. yes it does have a radiator fan but a external electric one not an engine driven one.

    2. custom made engine brackets mounted where the original ones used to be only on the furthest setting. (the block has 2 more holes on the front from factory so u can use them to re position your brackets)

  • The transmission I used was the getrag 260/6 you can use the 240 but its weaker. Cant use the 260 from the m20.

  • @HandalE30 Getrag 240 won't bolt on an M20, let alone an M30. The 240/245 only bolts on to the M10/M40 engines.

  • i'm thinking of doin an m30b35 swap sometime this summer. How long did it take you to swap (how long was it undrivable)?

  • it took me about 3 months but because i didnt have all the parts ready, had problems finding the gearbox! if you have everything ready for the swap you could have it back driving the next day! but thats working the whole day. =) Go for it its really rewarding!

  • yeah well, it has stamped 3.5 on the whole engine and its known as a 3.5, its just not to create confusion, its a 3430cc people who know just know and those who dont google the engine and their specifications. I could have writen BMW M30 B35, not everyone understands that. so thats why, try youtube searching BMW e30 3.4 =S no one has them like that. but well thanks 4 the comments.

  • umm, ok, you can bolt an automatic gearbox to the engine, in fact most of the e34 5 series came with the automatic gearbox but assuming your question is if you could fit this engine with an automatic gearbox into the E30, I really dont know if the gear box fits because of its small gearbox space

  • but hey, if We can fit the M30 big six, the v12, the m60´s etc, into the small E30, why coulnt we make it automatic. oh and by the way, most sites say that you cant fit the m30 automatic tranmission wiring to work with the E30 or that its a PITA but the wiring Im using is from an automatic and it took me about 5 hours reaserch and 3 hours of work, wich is not so bad! so, give it a try. but the question is.... why not leave it manual?

  • Add me to the M30-list. Im doing a build prety simmilar to yours. m3 body, m3 edc chassie and brakes. m50/52:s are nice but m30b35 is more brutal, cheaper to buy and maintain, and its easy and cheap to tune to around 240 hp. To get to those figures with an m50/52 would cost like an s50-swap and you wouldnt have the low-rev torque like the m30 has.

  • Vids will come when its finished :) Im using a 3.5 from a 735iA -91 with 179000km on it. Its fitted with a manual gearbox from a 535i. I had the same setup in my last build, and there was no problem with strange idle revs like ive read on some e30 pages. Drivetrain will be fitted this weekend, maby I will post a "first startup" vid :)

  • m52 is a better engine,its new and improved! u can stat it uo with a coin standing and it wont even move, its so balanced, its light years ahead the m30, that old crap. :P

  • Just as a last comment regarding the m52. just listen to theese stats. M52, 193hp :S Imagine a 1986 engine, THE M20, it has 170hp Stock right. ok so lets go to the engines managment: The m52 computer is so well tuned that adding a chip to it doesnt increase its HP! and it uses a maf not an afm! so my point is TAKE AN M20 BUY A CHIP AND DO AN MAF SWAP so they are even resluts= YOUVE GOT THE SAME OR EVEN MORE HP! and with a 2.5 not a 2.8! so as for the engine. Come on Man!!!!

  • It simply does not FIT, as someone said, ¨in a perfect world¨ The M30 is the proper engine for this car! it looks, feels, and just sounds so E30ish! and besides it came with the car in the 333i and alpina b6, even in th hartage! so Fuck M52 anits refinned smooth non tilting engine! :D
