it's a bit strange to see page with these you guys, like they were casted or something. but what keeps this thing moving is page and the drummer and the new drummer is super amazing. bass is not too challenging and second guitar has always played a minor role ... give that all the pa systems have improved so much over time, i think helmet's never sounded better ...
i am huge fan of the original helmet line-up but i would take this over nothing too. you will never get as good as what it was. that's a given. still, you cant complain about having the option to at least see page riffing out the classics. especially if you never got the chance to see them back in the day.
This is an absolute testament to how much better the original lineup of Helmet was.FBLA II is probably my favorite Helmet song, but without Stanier and Bogdan controlling the rhythm section, not even Page can save it.Sounds out of tune, out of time and just plainly awful I'm sorry to say.The drummer has alot of work to do to get close, starting on just simple setup of his kit, wow it sounds bad!But the bass sounds even worse!I'm so glad I saw Helmet in their prime years ago, this is disapointing.
Yeah, but at least they are touring and we can all experience a bit of Helmet vs. nothing at all. I saw them in LA in April and it was a great show. Honestly, Page is the key to these guys -- vocals, lyrics, and core guitar. The other guys are good (yes, not as good as Stanier/Henry) but I'll take it over nothing!
You have obviously never seen Helmet back in the mid 90's, they were perfection, hell just watch the youtube vids of helmet back then, Tighter, sharper, harder and just plain better. Towards the end of their last tour they started getting it together, hell there has been a revolving door at all positions so this poor performance is to be expected, my point is that this doesn't live up to the Helmet standard, which imo is very high.
True...the 90's were the time for these guys. In music you mature over time but they could have kept it the same..same line up and all and it would not get OLD...contrary to the shit out there today.
Too much jock-rockin' for mine... what's with Fred Durst on 2nd guitar?!?

@BloodRelativeScroll Helmet was rockin' out way before Fred reared his ugly head.

dude the bass kick ass, only the drummer needs a better kit with the stanier sound, then it would be a perfect line up
