nice mate, the pole in the vid i actually caught my pb carp of 15lbs 12oz on, on 3lbs line, same elastic as you(i know...not balanced!) lol - size 18 hook and single maggot lol! check out the bulletin on my home page
nice video, very instructive coming back to fishing after a couple of years break, normally fish for pike perch tench sometimes Carp. really fancy giving the pole a good go but unsure where to start your video was very helpful. any advice on fitting the bung?
cool...i went fishin down my lakes and i caught a 5 lb bream and a couple of roach...its was great and i am going tomorrow aswell...i am using casters maggots hemp luncheon meat
you have to prove yourself to be a hgood angler to big companies. i personally was sponsored through the angling newspaper i write for. They took me on as a columnist for the paper and in turn got me sponsorship
you need to get a bung estractor...it basically looks like a huge baiting needle. you take it out, cut the elastic and rethread it through the top sections and tie it on to the connector
the 8 metre one was £23 - and i've had fish to 15lbs 12oz on it - and the 11m one was free off of my sponsor...but if you want to buy it it comes out soon at £110
i ordered my 8 m shakespeare pole from ebay last thursday and i hope it will be here by saturday coz i cant wait 2 go fishin...and also i am makin my own seat box atm...its amazing...what pole are you using? mine is shakespeare
Mate...are u still fishin with your 8 m pole even today...have u been using it lately..because i just bougtt and 8 m pole and was wondering whether it was long enough for proper pole fishin? any ideas? thx
Ash I have been given 3 new poles but the end joints are not like yours on the vidoe & Idont know of anyone in Aus who can show Or tell me how to set up .I tried your email ad at tackletex but they came back how can I contact you mate I need your help
Hello again mate, finally invested in a 'proper' pole, Ron Thompson Carp Gangster 11m, looking forward to getting it elasticated up. Just a quick question about elastics, I fish on the Ouse in Cambs so I reckon about an 8 should do me, what rating do you suggest for the power top-2? I might venture out to some fisheries for decent carp, any ideas? Cheers.....
If you're fishing the Ouse, then if you're going for bream and silvers an 8 elastic is great, that's also if you've got a match top kit. For the power top 2, read the pole to see what elastic rating it is, personally for commercial carp fisheries i'd use a 14 to 16 elastic, the same elastic i use and i've had carp to 15lbs 12oz on it - hope it helps!
Alright there fella, sounds to me like there is a bit of a problem there. If it's not in the top sections then it could be a dodgy pole. If it's the actual top sections themselves, you may have to go to the tackleshop and get them cut back so that they do slide in to eachother. Take the pole back to the tackleshop you bought it from and explain to them what is happening and show them, they should be able to easily resolve the problem for you. Hopefully I've helped you a bit mate.
ive just bought a new pole its a leeda assassin advance twelve and a half meter; and ive got it out to have a look at but some of the sections dont fit over the previous ones so i have to slide them in throught the back of the pole to get them to lock into place is this correct or is the pole faulty.
just watched the video and its brill but ive got a question i wondered if u could answer.

no problem mate - if ever you want me to make a vid on anything else to do with fishing and rigs etc let me know or send me a message via youtube and i'll see what i can do, make sure to check out my other videos people!!!
No problem mate. The only difference between a pole and a whip is that generally a whip is telescopic and poles are divided in to sections which are put over. I presume your whip has a fixed swivel on the end as well, these are great for silverfish and small bream and carp, it's just hard to bring in the biggger fish as you don't have the advantage of elasticated top kits etc. Whips can be deadly in matches nonetheless, cheers for the comment and good luck in trying out your new whip
Just watched your vid, found it v. useful, i am a novice in the true sense of the word and have just bought a cheap whip and rig to get me going, whip is a mitchell t-500. I like the look of the elasticated end and your explanation made it understandable and easy to take in, cheers!
with a 14 rated elastic i reckon you could land carp to about 10/12lbs and i will try to put up a vid of how to thread the elastic and attatch it on the connector in the future
damian, it depends on the venue and fish in question, and what style of fishing you're in to. i like margin fishing so i got a 8 metre margin pole but poles go up to over 14 metres in length - what i would say, is go to a tackle shop and feel poles for yourself and choose one you feel comfortable with
i'm a member of 2 angling clubs - lamorbey angling society, who own the glade in lamorbey park, sidcup. And WDAC - the membership for woolwich dockyard. They're both also day tickets as well as a members club. Though in woolwich if you're a member you can do nights and the glade you can access the members bank of the glade which is fenced off. But i also fish other places on a day ticket - the glade and the docks are club waters, not commercials. but great lakes (and docks) none the less.

i'd say to start off use an 8 to 10 middy hi viz elastic...nothing too expensive to start off, and use a 4lbs mainline with e 3lbs hooklink

my elastic on my pole is crap...how do i change it? and what if i get a big fish and my pole snaps?

Good advice, appreciate it!
Both kits are power 2s, but the ends taper right down
so I presume I can use whatever elastic I need.
Pole is rated to 18 so won't be a prob I reckon.
The Ouse is good down here near St. Ives, I had a 2lb chub, but most silvers and bream as you say.
Thanks again mate, all the best!
