@KimGrace111 For double stops, chords, etc. it's best to break the notes up and play them separately. Once you know exactly what the single notes sound like, add in more notes until you can do the whole chord, double stop, etc. without any trouble. I hope this helps.
The first question is a tricky one. Gabrielle can sight read this piece. It may take a few days to play it smoothly. But it will take forever to master it. The answer to the second question is "I don't know". We bought our copy online. It's not too expensive because Mr. Bach did not make any money out of it.
Could consider reversing your double stops at certain parts, e.g. 3:06; that is, hit the E and A first then D and G. That way the theme doesn't get drowned out and misinterpreted as being the root of a chord.
If you're being literal, I firmly disagree. If you're playing your violin properly you should not feel any pain. If something's hurting, it means you're doing something wrong.
By the pain I meant the practicing hours and constantly playing a passage to get it right and trying to sound right etc... And pain is not a reward :S unless you are an "HSAN IV "sufferer
I kind of figured, but I just figured I'd mention in case you were actually being serious. There are some self-taught folks out there who just play with horrendous technique and end up hurting themselves, but nobody's ever told them they're wrong, so they just assume that's what it feels like to play the violin. So, you never know. =)
Thank you. There are still lots of rooms for improvement, but its exciting to see her getting better year by year. Some including ourselves want to see her playing this piece again when shes 15 or 17, but for that, you do have to wait.
I just re-listened to the older recording, and then to this new one, and woooow! You've really taken this piece far! :D Intonation is better, and I love your phrasing, and I want your tone....lol! Bach sure knew how to write revealing violin music, but you're able to make it sound awesome! ^^ Both recordings rock, but I really like this one! :D
How do you manage to practice for two instruments, and play both so well? Vivian is playing violin at her school orchestra and she could hardly find time to practice.
Oooh, amazing! I'm a little jealous that she's younger than me (by a year) hehe. The really cool thing is that even though this peice SOUNDS extremely impressive - and it is - , once you take it apart and play it excruciatingly slow a few times, it's not that hard.
this is one of my favorite pieces. Miss Gabrielle plays it so well it reaffirms my love for the violin.Only crit is her bow sometimes crosses the finger board. I would also like to see more use of dynamics. Then again, she is way better than me:P I am a fan Miss Gabrielle!
Wow, you're fast. I don't even know it's ready. Thanks for correcting me. It's 11-13-2008. Thanks for the 5 stars too, it's has to be from you. I am the 2nd viewer :)
@KimGrace111 It's Bach ... not Suzuki ;)

Gab, a little faster and fix your bow arm -- it moves off kilter constantly.

Very true, play a bit faster, that is how fast the piece was intended.

No. It's not in any of the 10 Suzuki Violin Books.

You're so right, but I think if you really love music much and you can take the pain better or even enjoy it for good results.
