If there is a tax greater against one part of a society than another for any reason that is calling one set of people greater than another. Nonbelievers in muslim nations are not treated equally. Atheists, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, ect are treated with contempt. They are not allowed to practice their religion (or lack thereof) with any real amount of freedom.

You're right in your response, to avoid violence and to forgive. God certainly doesn't want violence. What can be done about those killing innocents? Shariah depends on the situation at hand, for instance the shariah in the time of abu bakar was related to war and compilation of the quran, which was followed by the compilation of the quran happening then the kalif of that time worked on upholding the law, so shariah is based on the needs of the society. As for a rape victim in islam the rapist is the be stoned to death not the victim, ofcourse there is withnessing laws required as well.
As for thieves, yes the law is chop of their hands, because in islam a person should leave their house open and come back and nothing is even moved. Now we are not talking about thieving for food, that requires a different kind of punishment or even forgiveness from the person who's stuff was stolen. Because to feed the poor is also part of the shariah as well, so this situation depends on the reason for stealing.
As for the reason man has to do a part of it, it is only expected because islam is a society that is based on unity, when you have a destructive force compromising it, that needs to be dealt with be it that that person leaves, looses a limb or life. Ofcourse the punishment that they face is with god, there is also a responsibility to protect the society from shirk, which is what happens when crimes go unchecked.
So my take on it, is that when applied according to the teachings of islam Shariah law is vital. And it is amazing because many of the issues of mordern day society can be fixed if criminals had fear of doing the wrong they are doing, but to them jail is a semester in college to learn from others how to be better at what they do, jail does not reform.
anyone who claims they were reformed in jail ask them what punishments they went through in jail, be it that they were raped or what ever there is something else that caused the change not simply because they were in a jail cell.
it is not picking on people, because muslims have to pay the manditory zakaat, which is a religious tax as well. so if the non muslims want to pay that zakaat which is 2.5% of your wealth instead of paying 1 dirham(gold coin) then i see no issues with it, the problem is that they also need to maintain their chruches, so more than 2% of thier income woudl go for sake of god, so this is why this tax is not unfair.

It is not a suggestion to pay zakaat, it is manditory, every muslim pays 2.5% on wealth and 10% on agriculture (fruits, animals etc) that is manditory no loop holes for this.

If there is a tax greater against one part of a society than another for any reason that is calling one set of people greater than another. Nonbelievers in muslim nations are not treated equally. Atheists, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, ect are treated with contempt. They are not allowed to practice their religion (or lack thereof) with any real amount of freedom.
Can people of other religions promote their respective beliefs against islam in an islamic nation? No. Islam is afraid of information.

@XpaXorZ Muslims have to pay Zakat, a form of charity which goes to the poor in order to house, feed, water and help them get to their feet or if they're disabled or cannot work for some reason to maintain them.
Non-muslims don't have to pay this, so to make sure all of society contributes equally there is a tax for non muslims.

EG. Christians in the Gaza strip aren't treated with contempt, they have Churches and are allowed to practice. Hamas let them!

Unless a non muslims are willing to pay Zakaat which is a religious income tax which is truly unfair to them Jizya is the only option, because you must agree that taxes are being used to afford things that the non muslims in a society will benefit from, including pension, can you imagine there is this uproar about jizya but no one take exception that the state provides pension to aged non muslims dont you see the problem with this?

Specifically, they claimed it was "adultry." As I said earlier, men are faulted and having life and death control over others through a strict form of code is a pretty scary concept, to say the least. The girl is dead. I also have the feeling that the men involved are backing each other up, providing alibis for each other. It's a mess.
With shariah law coming long after the prophet's death, who developed it? I understand that it has principles picked up by other law systems.

under shariah law, a person who is not married cannot commit adultry. also the judge in this case should be questioned as to what islamic law he is following based on the quran and hadith which is where the shariah is derived, and ofcourse there would be nothing.
as for who develops sharaiah law, that would be the leader/judge who strictly bases his justification on the life of the prophet and those closer to the message of islam.

Oh, I most definitely believe in morals. What I think is a bad idea is men enforcing their idea of justice by handing out death sentences. If they ever find out that they made a mistake, what can they do to reverse it? You didn't comment on the 13-year-old girl who got stoned. I guess she'll think twice about letting herself get gang raped next time if she knows the punishment? Even without laws and punishment, people should not act "unsociably," taking from others, etc.

Shariah depends on the situation at hand, for instance the shariah in the time of abu bakar was related to war and compilation of the quran, which was followed by the compilation of the quran happening then the kalif of that time worked on upholding the law, so shariah is based on the needs of the society. As for thieves, yes the law is chop of their hands, because in islam a person should leave their house open and come back and nothing is even moved. Now we are not talking about thieving for food, that requires a different kind of punishment or even forgiveness from the person who's stuff was stolen. Because to feed the poor is also part of the shariah as well, so this situation depends on the reason for stealing.

As for the reason man has to do a part of it, it is only expected because islam is a society that is based on unity, when you have a destructive force compromising it, that needs to be dealt with be it that that person leaves, looses a limb or life. Ofcourse the punishment that they face is with god, there is also a responsibility to protect the society from shirk, which is what happens when crimes go unchecked.

it is not picking on people, because muslims have to pay the manditory zakaat, which is a religious tax as well. so if the non muslims want to pay that zakaat which is 2.5% of your wealth instead of paying 1 dirham(gold coin) then i see no issues with it, the problem is that they also need to maintain their chruches, so more than 2% of thier income woudl go for sake of god, so this is why this tax is not unfair.

i suggest you look at the tacktic of those that fight muslims, how many bombs dropped on muslims? which bomb did iraqi muslims drop on americans? yet they were carpet bombed, which bomb did the afgani people drop on americans? yet they are carpet bombed, so if they are being killed indescriminatedly why shouldnt their enemies be killed the same way?

It is not a suggestion to pay zakaat, it is manditory, every muslim pays 2.5% on wealth and 10% on agriculture (fruits, animals etc) that is manditory no loop holes for this.
the gold coin is a dirham, which was the legal tender back in the time of the messenger(saw).
as for christian states (because we are talking about the muslim states) we pay taxes i pay almost 40% in taxes - 33% goes directly out of my paycheck, and everythign i buy has taxes on it, so atleast 40% in chrisitian states

Islam is not complete, it has not taken one Muslim out of the darkness into the light nor can it ever do that

He took hell and judgment from a parable made by Jesus then he made a religion based on them then he claimed he was only a plain warner yet he imposed hell upon people
Muhammad said in sura 61:6 that Jesus announced the coming of an apostle, the ahmad but Jesus said the Holy Spirit would come to his disciples while they lived not 500 years later and that the Holy Spirit lives in all people on earth (John 14-17) which is proof Muhammad was a false prophet

Jer 8:8 is not saying every word of the bible is false for the Jews would have left their faith
Jesus mentioned Jer 8:8 in Matthew 13: 25-30 when Jesus describes what is the weeds and wheat as in Mt 13:37-43
which is what I do not only of the Jewish, Christian but also of the Islamic faith
You do not know God or how God is in our world but I do and Mt 13:37-43 is my mission for it is approaching the end of time and the return of Jesus

You claim Jay took passages out of context which is only what Christians say to Muslims who return making the same claim as you have for the Bible flows as cohesive stories often which are long
but each sura is jaggard with many unrelated stories
For example sura Women contains few stories on women rather the sura contains stories on the go to fight for Islam, on Jews, on the Trinity, on non believers, on the prophets

The "peace" Islam promotes is the clarity, patience, and inner peace of knowing/worshipping Allah SWT and that He is always there for you. Its not about the peace that most ppl like to think of: that passive, "why cant you be Buddhists", "let us walk all over you", Carebear peace. Face it, Muslims have the best of two worlds, we can protect ourselves and be faithful to the Creator at the same time.
