  • fuck the language we are free

  • I really like the voice on this version, but I really wish they would have included the fast part in it (La la da pa da le na da na...) but oh well...can't have everything it seems

  • @lavendderrable

It's not Andalusian, and it's not called a "trans language". It's glossolalia or an idiosyncratic language. She created it from the age of 12.

She does borrow a good bit of the sound from Arabic languages, but she also draws inspiration from many sources.

Also, she isn't Jewish (she's Irish-Australian) or Christian, and she doesn't use it to pray or talk to God. She has described it as being like "speaking in tongues", but it's more like elegant scat-singing.

  • Now we are truly free

  • Lovely. The original, by Lisa Gerrard is much better...but this is lovely.

  • Love the song and the pic but loose the stars

  • And today is 12-10-11.

  • I found this song while watching Gladiator. I was amazed and got a little teary at the end when this song played.

  • Speaking of the photo at the beginning; I've spent lots of minutes watching that photo as I dream or something while listening to this most amazing music. This one song has really stood the test of time with me...still listening to it since around December 2009, now, about 4 times a day.

  • Omggg'''''''''''' J'connais l'film et la musique , mais pas cette chanteuse haa énorme :) merci!

  • Is it wrong for a boy to love this?

  • @josPerkins101 lol i like it n i get high to this. is that wrong?

  • @heatpod hahahaha are you serious im doing that right now.

  • @josPerkins101 It's sad what people say makes us ask that question :( There is nothing wrong with loving this kind of music no matter who you are :)

  • Cool channel.

  • @josPerkins101 Thanks a lot and thanks a million for subscribing

  • @ultimaweapon2000 I don't really care what people think about what I enjoy. The way I look at it is if you don't like something your missing out on some type fo spice that puts flavor into our lives. Just as long as its not something that will hurt others

  • @blrenx so true and very well said

  • lol i thought it said free on itunes XD

  • the original Lisa Gerald's version is much beter

  • Great song!!!

But I find the blinking stars quite annoying... :(

  • thank you for posting this song i have never heard it before

  • I wish Orla and Meav were back :(

  • It is great!

  • The language in the song of Lisa Gerrard is Aramaic - The language of Jesus and Moises speaking to God. Lisa Gerrard version is wonderfull of freedom and soul feelings. This version is horrible cover. A real singuer never copy the voice of other singuer, because every singuer must have his own style singuing.

  • @fantomwebchannel

Sorry, love, but in an interview Lisa Gerard admitted that this was complete and utter gibberish, but this is one of my favorite songs :)

  • @fantomwebchannel Um, do you mean 'singer'?

  • @Elriaen yes babe :)

  • @fantomwebchannel sorry, but this is not Aramaic. Lisa Gerrard creates her own language in many of her works. this song in peticular, she has stated as such in may interviews

  • @fantomwebchannel : it is not Aramaic. Lisa Gerrard creates her own language when she sings, because she does not want to be confined by language. She likens it to when her daughter would sing, before she could speak...pure emotion, love, longing, hope...without the restraint of words.

  • Engelsmusik- super Stimmen. Romantik und Irish culture , mystic . Klasse

  • Wow, i got goose bumps!!!!!

  • nice, very nice

  • Both Enya and Celtic Woman, are great.

  • @TakeOneLTD wrong.Celtic woman are great,enya is GOD.

  • Angels sent from heaven .

  • what language is this in the song?

  • @BigTeo55 I'm gonna give a shot in the dark and say it's Latin. But I have no idea. I'm just going off the idea that the movie (Gladiator) took place in Roma and had Romans.

  • @Kosh800 it's not latin. It's a language that Lisa Gerrard, the original singer of the song, makes up on the fly. She explains that its the language that she uses to speak to God...and from the music, I'd have to agree with her.

Her version is better than this one, I have to say. Though this has a certain feel to it that I like. A bit slow...

  • @BigTeo55 it is not in any language. the original singer/composer of this song creates her own language when she sings. Her emotion is not confined by the restriction of language: just pure emotion and music.

  • therre was an exhibit in the Pheonix Art Museum in Arizona, there was a room made up of only mirrors and suspended from the cealing there were LED lights .... it was like standing in space and in my mind there was this song, and i literally spent about an hour in there, sitting against a wall, singing that song. ( it was kinda funny because people thought I was part of the exhibit)

Still today that is one of my most treasured memories, thank you for posting this song ~*bow*`

  • beautiful voices, beautiful remake song

  • The song is so beautiful but the picture with stars is horrible, sorry :(

  • @Angieelek Add in Alex Louis Armstrong then. lol.

  • boss still like lisa gerrards more but this is damn close once again lisa kelly dominates

  • Oh my God...freakin' awesome...

  • Bien , seulement Lisa Gerrard interprète mieux cette chanson , l'originale est bien au-dessus.

  • its like someone holding my hand and we flying to heaven

  • There was once a dream that was Rome...

  • Omg. ślicznie.! :D

  • this song is so amazing its so relaxing and beautiful dont anyone agree?

  • Ta muzyka jest dla mnie czymś wyjątkowym Pozdrawiam fan from Poland

  • I love this song and that doesn't make me gay just because i appreciate good art.

  • Beautiful, but no one can sing it as beautiful and amazing that just makes me want to cry like Lisa Gerrard.

  • Comment removed

  • Hans Zimmer said that it was in Sanskrit..hmm weird though

  • Really I shouldn't even be writing a comment. Because this song is.....

    BEAUTIFUL BEYOND WORDS!!

  • Comment removed

  • They played this song in The Gladiator with Russel Crowe

  • THis is an amzing song! Absolutely Beautiful!

  • 2:47 is ruined. The part of that song went so deep it went into my soul. The Celtic woman didn't even hit the low notes.

  • @XxC0ldH3artxX

wtf are you talking about? how is 2:47 ruined? it sounded fine to me. good, actually. lets hear you sing better.

  • Number one, it's a jewish song not celtic. and it has nothing on Lisa

  • @jaywheeler08 I believe it's actually Roman. My opinion, I don't really know. But the lyrics "Run with me now soldier of Rome," is rather convincing.

  • @XxC0ldH3artxX

It's not any language, Lisa Gerrard actually admitts to it being gibberish...kind of like how scat works...just random syllables...

  • @jaywheeler08 Are you shure i always wondered what toung LISA was recording in but was always told thing like its a tong she made up and its a dead toung i would like to know more if you would be willing to tell me ..Thank you

  • Lacks the power of Lisa xD

  • This was good, but Lisa's original version is much better.

  • I also have all the cd's and dvd's. I've had the opportunity to meet them all in person. my fave is Lisa Kelly who if course is doing this song. I've met her three times and all of them are nice as they talented!!

  • i love this song, its so beautiful and haunting. i love Celtic Woman, i have four of their CDs and one Concert DVD. this is one of my favorite songs. these women are so blessed, their voices are stunning, i'm blown away by how talented they are! LONG LIVE CELTIC WOMAN!

  • hey is this the ending song of "the gladiator"? it sounds like it!

  • @laurensbluedragon yes it is!

  • I'd like to see what people come up with while drawing whatever is on their mind when listening to either versions on this song.

  • One of my favourite songs of all time! I had no idea Celtic Woman did a cover of it. This truly is a beautiful version; still, I think I prefer the original. Is this one availalbe for download?

  • Sorry CW. This one goes to Lisa Gerrard.

  • Dear gsl 1989. Thank you for uploading this beautiful song.

I need a favor if it's possible to do. I left some comments

here and now I don't have the account anymore. Can

you "remove" all the sweetchuckaluck comments

some were fine, but some were very personal

and spoiled the other viewers experience.

    Thank you so much.

  • @chonesong No problem I sort that out later today

    Regards GSL

  • @gsl1989 Oh great, gsl. You have given me relief, both in your

videos and now to help the other viewers. Thank you

    so much. Beautiful channel !

  • FREEDOM NEVER COMES FREE.

  • Enya's version ??? What are you talking about ? :D Hmm..Is it exist?? She never sang this song but Lisa Gerrard. Anyway, Lisa Kelly sang this song perfectly as like as Lisa Gerrard.

  • i think both woman sing it beautifully. Enya's version is more raw feeling, like she is feeling every part of the music. Celtic woman's version is more technical, like smooth to perfection. both are beautiful in their own way and should be respected as such so i don't think its fair to judge so easily. no offense though just my opinion^^

  • @jenrazer Save for the fact Enya was not the original singer, but I can understand confusion. This song was written and originally written and preformed by Lisa Gerrard. :) But I do agree with what you are saying! :)

  • @aeromilagro85 Kelly Sweet also did a lovely version of it.

  • 12 people aren't free

  • Preciosa la cancion..pero quiero ver video :-(?

  • i love this song, though i've only listened to it a few times. its one of my personal favorites, its so beautiful and serene. i've seen parts of the movie Gladiator and i heard this song on youtube but Celtic Woman does it much better than Enya. i love this music, its so beautiful and haunting.

  • Yeah, um... just in case you're wondering why nobody cares... this song didn't need an ego-plugging re-make. Thanks.

  • J adore !!!

  • what is that?

    The language is not Celtik!

This is an invented language of Lisa Gerrard to talk to God

  • @MAOSfoto Actually, this is a rendition of the Gadiator theme. The language is Ancient Roman.

  • @Chargal4

Actually the language is made up. It is no recognised langual. The ancient romans spoke Latin.

  • I think Enya did this song better.

  • @NekoKanii I´m agree with you totally

  • Wow. Almost as epic as Gerrards.

  • Awesome song my ring tone for a long time

  • The 9 people who disliked this are not free! I love lisa

  • Von Gladiator *.* wunderschöne version <3

  • omg i love this song so much. its so beautiful, and it still makes me tear up a little. Glatiator!! <3

  • Nice, but can she come up with something original instead of enya and Lisa gerrard songs? ;)

  • to @oehieze This group doesn't do any original music that I know of. They just do their renditions/covers of other peoples stuff. I think they do a great job. Like you, I do wonder what their own stuff would sound like.

  • @larrylgray2

they did some original...some of their songs written by David Downes (their musical director) for example "the blessing, send me a song, the call" etc. so your statement is false :) but the most of their songs are renditions/covers as you said. it is correct :)

  • those shining stars are gay

  • @OberfeldwebelShultze

How does shining stars relate to sexuality?

  • @gsl1989 ask the lady on astro tv xD

  • @gsl1989 umm me thinks he ment the old meaning of Gay as in happy. And why dose it always have to be about sex????

  • @gsl1989 your gay! thats why

  • @gsl1989 They're just so... FABULOUS 0.o

  • @gsl1989 Cause they're FABULOUS!!!!

  • @gsl1989 the other meaning of gay?

  • @gsl1989 we'll all assume Ober is using the original definition and these Shining stars are gay as in 'happy and wise'

  • @AldithIcewound

OK I apologise, my channel generates a lot of criticism

  • @gsl1989 Nothing to apologize for. *grin* why should you pay for the few who choose to be rude.

  • hauntingly beautiful!

  • I listened to the original then this... I like em both but i personally like this one better.

  • hahaz wads wif the stupid blogging? nice cover, but not enough soul, good try though~

  • this is beautiful

  • This version is such a pale shadow to Lisa Gerrard's original. It completely lacks the soul stirring depth of Gerrard's version.

  • @bomlin Took the words out of my mouth.

  • This song send my soul to a place i´ve never been before, somehow the words resonate in my heart, recognizing them as a soft call from way back, when my soul and spirit were new.

  • @Sweetchuckaluck

Dude, this isn't your blog. Don't spam the page and ruin us listening to this amazing song.

  • @cmccoy1 you're right about the spam. Sorry and now they're long gone

for your listening enjoyment...I get it.

  • Dear loved ones. I must write this for this love must be expressed. Our Heavenly Parents (God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit who takes on the role of Jesus' bride)

are very much listening too. I knew today, I would write this to the one who

awaits even my presence. The world of spirit surrounds us and pre-empts the actions that occur in the flesh. Just as we would be silly to think

that any action occurs before the thought that causes it or idea that moti-

    vates it,....SEE: "MOTIVATES IT"

  • Such fine music are we blessed to hear today.

  • I've been wondering who did this song for years.. its so beautiful, it brings a tear to the eye.

  • @delinquentpanda Lisa Gerard us the original creator..

  • jdsrret@comcast.net: As far as I am concerned these women belong up there with the best voices in history. I'm glad I have some Irish blood in me so I can appreciate their music to the fullest. Celtic Women-NEVER stop singing!!!!

  • Omg both Lisa Gerrard and Lisa Kelly sound awesome in their own renditions! But for Gerrards she has this spine tingling moving soulful sound.

  • @lordEli You must be kidding. Lisa Kelly blows Gerrard out of the water, she should have been the one on the soundtrack. The purity Kelly delivers is unmatched, especially in Gerrard.

  • @cmccoy1 haha your funny. This version is uber lame. No feeling or emotion that Gerrard has. Just another generic cover by pretty voices. Can't they come up wit any songs of their own?

  • @KingKrunkmungas they do make some of their own songs..... but mostly they do traditional ones, which theyre supposed to..... and this version is not lame

  • @NirobiQ o_O you should broaden your musical tastes and listen to some good music.

  • @KingKrunkmungas are you telling me that this is not good music?!?!?!?! so then what's you idea of good music? Lady Gaga? Justin Beaver? and by the way, if you hate this so much why are you listening to it in the first place? if you think you are too good for this then why bother listening? go spend you precious time elsewhere, where you won't offend people.

  • @MidnightMoondapple :D lol you made me giggle. I listened to this cause the Original is a heaveny jewel. I wanted to hear a different version and how it came out. ...It didn't come out great at all. I didn't know i hated it until I heard it (doh). The music is totally lacking and her voice is too shallow and trite. Justin beaver? lol Good music is high quality depth of heart and spirit. Creativity and beauty.

if its so great why does my comment offend you?

  • @KingKrunkmungas With all due respect, your argument isn't so strong. Lisa kelly is highly regarded for her vocal talent, and I mean real talent. Might you favor Gerrard's version? Sure. Still, Gerrard's version was the first you heard. You've already corrupted any chance at truly comparing the two fairly.

  • @ttzjoeb I don't think I'm really due any respect. Its just my opinion. I know music, I create music, I love every type of music you can imagine. Her voice is nothing like the original.

Highly regard...a lot of people are highly regarded....really means nothing to be honest. Justin beiber is 'highly regard'. You heard Gerrards version first as well...and yet you like this version ...so of course my chance of comparing is fair.

  • I am pretty dern sure Lisa Gerrard was the one whom did this song for Gladiator, this womans voice here certainly isn't as strong nor as magical. lost something here in this version sorry to say

  • @LordEli I agree. Lisa's Gerrard's version sends chils down my spine and will always be the best for me, I remember I had a lump in my throat when I watched Gladiator for the first time. Maximus who died, and Lisa's stunning soft vocals who started. Lisa Kelly's version is lovely though. That's the amazing thing with music.. that people can feel moved by different artists, although the song is the same.

  • RE: "could someone pretty please tell me, in plain English, what this beautiful song means?" sorry, not yet. Please post it when you find out and I'll do the same.

  • IF ANYONE LIKED THIS SONG , CHECK OUT "THE VOICE" BY LISA , IT IS AMAZING. MY WIFE FOUND ME A CELTIC WOMAN CD AT AN IRISH STORE HERE IN PGH. PA. I LOVE IT !

  • could someone pretty please tell me, in plain English, what this beautiful song means?

  • @theIrishluckcharm

This video has a subjective translation; youtube . com/watch?v=EX7q5LgwTDo&feature=related

  • @theIrishluckcharm I wanted to know myself. After researching I discovered that Enya made up the words from several different languages to convey the feeling of the song she wanted to get across. I think she did a good job.

  • I don't know why but this version is more like the christianity conquers roman empire and it's treasures to me.in a good way,a declare of one great system.system of absolute and pure power of humanity.on the other hand the rising system.which is more dishonest and coward.I meant the rulers before chr.were revealed.after they're still in shadows of a religion

  • @fcnmsstodiefor I meant not the singer or the song.its beautiful

  • I was browsing through Celtic Women music and heard this song and tried to remember where I heard it before.

    AHA!

They used this song for the movie Gladiator!

    Good choice

  • Anyone know were i can get the album?

  • @sweetchuckaluck that's probably the stupidest thing anyone's ever written.

  • ok i dont mean this is a harsh way at all cos i tihnk this woman has got a great great voice but the difference is that when she sings the lyrics it sounds like she is pretending to sing some made up language (which she is) but when lisa gerrard does it she makes you believe that its real.

  • i love lisa, but chloe is just...UGH! her voice is really pretty, but i cant watch her in concert. too pompous. :P

  • and: If I may ask your help yet once again L. your preciousness, this msg.; CE...Yes, that was me at Agua Sat. 9-4-10. What we both await is so much greater than we can imagine. Please rest now on that. L, please have an amazing day. If it weren't for you I wonder how all this could proceed at all, therefore, I owe you my life and more. Sun-Ju

  • Thank you friend LK.

  • Isn't this song used towards the end of Gladiator???

  • @VampireQueen33 Yes, and who sings the song is Lisa Gerard!!!

  • @VampireQueen33 I believe so, but since I got the dvd handy, I could watch it again and found out and tell you as soon as possible. :)

  • Well it is a good atempt but not half as good as the original by Lisa Gerrard. And for this reason; Only Lisa can tell a story without common words. Lisa gerrard and hans Zimmer are a rare combination of great mucicians.

  • also she has a great voice.but I simply cant like the way she sings gosh!!!

  • @fcnmsstodiefor: Lisa Kelly rendition is better. No offense :)

  • music is totally great but I dont like the way she sings no offense :)

  • einfach nur schön ....

  • simplemente celestial

  • ....Gladiatior *-*

    Total schön!

  • (cont. #3) Oh bless you forever in the simple presence you offer and the protection which you are given

to provide this world. One day can make all the difference. Our faith is so powerful in some ways because our Creator is within us. And so we wait, totally expecting all that

is to come. May it be soon, say Friday ? OK, there's humor in faith. But, there is also faith in humor !! Best wishes, your appreciator, Sun-Ju

  • (cont. #2) Not one child ever lacked this dream and not one mother could keep from shedding a tear at the prospect of its realization. Your being is too precious for words but the world will send you one that will allow your goodness to become thunder and your grace the mightiest streak of light and

warmth to embrace every soul that ever lived and every spirit that is ever to come.

    (cont. above @ #3)

  • LK: if you see this will you pass it along? You're amazing !! I left this on Sigma (CA's video but I was blocked for erasing messages...oh well, I've been called worse !) Sigma will always be my favorite for this song gave me life and hope of a dream that has been waiting almost forever to see its fulfillment. No man had a dream that this dream wasn't begging to bring to him, serving that end with its very breathing and seeing. (cont. above/below see#2)

  • when i sleep..... i w¡ant be there.....in my way... my should..is in other part of the world.....my iris should
