did the Magnaflow Catalytic Converter add a little more sound? thanks im jw before i buy one,i have a supper 44 on my 4.0 and i want it to sound a little more throaty
yeah bro a High Flow or no Cat will sound better because of less restriction and most people bump up size of all the tubing on jeeps to like 2.5 bigger engines all the way up to 4 haha but yeah that's all it does is increase flow.
OK thanks, good to know then becuz I am running cat-back no muffler with 2.5" piping on my Grand Cherokee with the 4.0L and am considering the Magnaflow Cat for it.
Yeah. I'd go for it It's totally worth it the more flow the better gas mileage. Just remember on our 4.0's You need a certain amount of backpressure so don't get to much of a bigger exhaust the biggest i'd reccomend is a 2.5.
i have the flowmaster muffler but im lookin for a high flow cat. the deleted cat just sounds too scratchy so im hoping it will clean up the sound but hopefully it will still b loud
After I sold this jeep i found that I had a cracked header... most cherokee and grand cherokees around this year will have cracked headers(exhaust manifold) If I replaced the header, this would sound like a T-REX compared to what its actually like.
i got a turbo tube dropped the cat and tailpipe. it increased horsepower a little and it sounds decent, but if i cut the pipe after the tube and make it come out in front of the back passenger wheel it would have a mean scream..and i can blow fumes in the open windows of civics and shit
having a tailpipe is actually a good thing, in general becasue of the way a flowmaster creates a vacccum from the cat, BUT the most worthwhile gains are only netted if the whole system is done real and there r diffnt options but generally tapering it down, not up in diamter at the back is better,,it wont be as edeep but it will snapmean and it speeds up the cooler and slower gases which you wanna keep screaming, close to the motor is the most im,portant, its hot and fast, bipheaders,not2.5tailpipe
I just got a high flow cat converter and a cherry bomb on my 94 grand cherokee 1-6 and it sounded fine with a tail pipe coming out the back. Its got a nice low rumble but it's not too loud. Recently I put a stainless exhaust tip straight out the back which made it resonate a bit more.
nitrouspurger whyed they make u put a tailpipe on? i just bought a super 40 to replace my gibson catback and im just gonna put alittle downpipe tubing after the 40 and thats it. Is that illegal?
it sounds worse without the tailpipe, if you want to hear it look for my other video with the updated exhaust. its a downpipe exit connected to the muffler
yo i got the same set up as u now and i hate it with the tail pipe! i used to have only a super 40 on it with no tail pipe. but i took it to a shop to put the new cat on and they made me get a tail pipe and it reduces the sound sooooo much at idle. although it isnt that bad when u floor it ;)!
thanks man. yea the super 40 flowmaster sounds great on the 40. the magnaflow high flow cat is what made all that rumble. but now i took the converter off and it sounds mean like a 5.9.
I do have a word of advice.... Never put a cherry bomb on a I6 jeep with the cat still in the line. One of my neighbor's coworkers did that... sounds like crap.
What is a deeper sounding muffer with the stock cat, the super 40 or super 44? or any other muffler?

aftermarket muffler but a stock cat
Jgreene2124 2 years ago
