I've only read the manga, but I enjoy. I do think it's more for girls ages 12-14 ish (maybe 10-14 ish). It's very girly and not much action (or boys manga-esque action). I think the anime might of been cancelled since people keep asking me where the 3rd episode is, so I recommend you read the manga if you want the full story :).
