The steel white coaster is revolution for sure because you can see the magic mountain observation tower in the background. But it looks like this film was shot in a variety of theme parks.
Kings Dominion in Virginia is still a very nice park and keeps getting better... sad they drained the lake (the one seen in this movie) years ago... but the Rebel Yell coaster is still alive and well. Before you get on the ride, there is a bronze sign at the entrance or exit (can't remember) talking about this movie and much more.
Three parks were used.... Ocean View Amusement Park (defunct) in Norfolk, Virginia; Kings Dominion (Doswell, Virginia), and Magic Mountain in California.
sideshowcarney you have no idea how i forgot this movie,i saw it years ago & dont remember what is the name of the movie about a psycho sabotage a rollercoaster :)
if you love this movie there's a tv movie call thrill 1996 starring Antonio Sabato Jr.
same plot check it,i really wanna see thrill of caurse i remember thrill it was fun to watch ;)
I don't know about everyone else, but this movie scared me away from amusement parks the same way Jaws kept me out of the water for half the summer. This movie is a cult classic. Still fun to watch
Ken, I know that. You are not crazy. I was just a bit surprised reading all that. it sounds like a ride in a cinema.Sorry about your father.Yeah, the sound system was a 'big deal' back then. Kinda like a good laugh while the movie is in a suspenseful scene. The theaters had troubles with the system as well. Not many people were happy about the vibrations underneath their seats.I understand what you are saying though. The film 'Midway' was another flick that used this gimmick.Ken, thumbs up to you!
My parents saw this when it first came out in the theatre. When the coaster would go into a dip and come back up, the theatre seats would decline and come back up as well.Great suspense film! Loved it back then and still do today!
Hey, I didn't mean to come off as making a crazy statement here. I was merely reflecting on what my parents told me when I was younger about the movie. My father passed away in December of 2007, so I will have to ask my mother about this. I hope she will remember.
You're absolutely correct. I saw the movie "Midway", which was also done in the "sensurround" format. Kick butt features when bombs dropping out of the Zeros hit the decks of carriers.
Saw ROLLERCOASTER twice in SENSURROUND at the cinema in 1977.I love it!Great directing,story & acting,with just the right balance of suspense & humor.Lalo Schifrin music score is amazing too! ( ;
That brings back memories of the late 70s/ early 80s when there were tall trees surrounding the Revolution and they didn't have the damn shoulder harness either!
@muthahoho There are several parks in this movie. The climax was shot at Magic Mountain in Valencia CA. Not sure where the other parks were but you are probably correct that some of it was shot in VA.
@sideshowcarny skrew all y'all! I know these comments are a couple years old. but a lot of this movie was filmed at Kings Dominion in Doswell Virginia, the year it opened up! the rebel yell is still there, the one cop guy rides on, the little scooby doo coaster at the suitcase drop off is still there. they took out the cable car sky ride though.
Actually you are wrong, the last part of this film was shot at Magic Mountain in California.
My older sister worked there (and was an extra) during the time when they were filming the final scenes for this movie at the amusement park. The white coaster at the end credits of this movie is the Revolution at Magic Mountain.
EXCELLENT UPLOAD THNX

All I know is that both of the roller coasters were featured in "Kid Songs". I used to watch it over and over as a kid :)

WHAT!
This movie had sensurround.
Ask your parents if the seats shook.
Moving horizontal, verticle seats in an everyday 1970s cinema?
NEVER. I was there.
That was the craziest statement I have ever read on YT from you,

Let me correct myself, Ken.
This film was using a vibrating sound system used by the film company. It was 1st used in Earthquake to draw in moviegoers from televisions.
The system used a subwoofer to vibrate the theater seats. Other films were made using the same technique.
