Hi there love the videos just wondered can you do this with any camera as i have checked that myne pickes up the infared on the tv remote and it says it has 1.1 lux. Do you know if this would work.
hi which modle of camcorder do you use and what range can u shoot to. any info would be grate as i have a rat prob on the farm and would like to make one of these thanks.
i found that same IR light but cant seem to figure out how u would be able to go outside cuz the adapter that u buy separetly needs to be plugged in to the wall.... plz help P.S i love your vids and i was gonna do the same setup just with a different camera. thx
So do you use thetelephoto on the scope OR the camera - when you want to get close up? If the camera - then cool - because nightvision rifle scopes can only get so close.
@DFPFTW Hi it is infra red light running at about 800-850nm, in other words its is a like that can not be seen by the naked eye as bit like ultra high pitch sounds that ears cant hear! IR light is used to illuminate things in the dark but you need a device like night vision to see it!
I have the Sony SR-11. It has great night vision. But IR illuminator is limited outside. What is the frequency of the IR? Can it be seen by the naked eye? Thank you. Great video.
@turftamper IR is typically 700-1400 nanometers. 940nm IR LEDs work pretty well with cameras, but if you really want range you'll probably end up going with some CREE LED lamps in the 850nm range.
Got some info for ya, You can get even more powerful Infrared led torches made by Solarforce 3 Watt led you can scope mount them too and have a trigger switch :D (thats only if you wanted to know?) I love your setup its well neat, keep up the good work!
@altamount1 Hi James, I have a sony hdr-sr11 now but the one in this video was a non hd version! most sony cams have night shot and thats what you need!
i was like ooh thats cool. when i saw it in the videos to the right and wen i was watching the video i was like what the hell? lol. i didnt think it was like a sniper scope lol. when i was it on the gun i thought that was tight, lol. good work bro.
then you go and use that thing and mame a poor animal because of the lack of accuracy. i promise you wont be able to group your shots accurately enough using that setup.
Really you think so? watch my video "Best of rat shooting with Weihrauch HW 100 .22 Air Rifle" 435 5 star ratings say other wise! head shots all the way. ;-)
I'm not sure if they are legal in usa - I read they can harm peoples eyes if shined into someone's eye? How do you see to shoot if the cam corder is attached to the end of the scope?
Hey cubleycat/snypercat - I'd love to do something like this with my Beeman R1 (HW 80), but I'm convinced the two-way recoil will destroy a handycam or a NV monocular pretty quick. Any experience with powerful springers?
I don't think you understand the concept. The IR lamp is what makes it possible for the camera to see at night, creating night vision. The camera can see IR light, the lamp creates the IR for the camera to see.

Could you use the IR light separately from the camcorder and still record it?

It did not come with a scope how ever, and so I am wondering what scope you recommend for the rat video's and what is the best choice for the video camera? Oh and which IR Illuminator do you recommend, also?

once I had it all sighted in, I aimed it at a squirrel and it died before it hit the ground, so I think its capable of taking on rats.
avastyee 3 years ago
Looking at the specs and reviews on those rifles they have plenty of power, if its .177 I would recommend flat or hollow points but if you can hit it in the head it is more humane though a body shot will kill the quiet quickly.
Happy shooting my friend ;)

I know, but "proper designed night scopes" costs around £600-1000 and you can't mount them on registered hunting rifle because of the stupid law,in other hand camera+sniper combination is not illegal,I checked!
Must get rid of the foxes and other pests,so I would be shooting at least at 100 yards!
looking forward to buy camera, what should i search for,I mean what kind of specifications are best for night shooting!?

What kind of the pipe yo used to stabilize it and how stable it is!?
And another thing,on how far is it effective!?
What do you think, wold that bee enough to withstand recoil force of AK or bolt action!?
Thanks!
mfilip62 3 years ago
Hi have a look at the video response, its a more up to date version, it was ok on the pipe which was just a piece of 2" rubber pipe.
I think heavy recoil would damage the camera, there are proper designed night scopes available that should be Ok.
