I just finished reading the book, and honestly this project is a slap in the face. The sterotypical hillbilly music isn't working, and it doesn't seem that you have taken the read seriously.
After I read that... I sat in silence for about 10 minutes... those are the kind of endings that defy words. The whole time I read the final chapter, I was wondering how on earth steinbeck was going to end it... wow...
I've heard that The Grapes of Wrath isn't that good. Could anyone tell me if they liked it? Could you also tell me some of your favorite John Steinbeck books?
That's all talk that the book is bad, but it kind of depends on the idea of whether you like Historical Fictions. People also come up with these ideas because they are forced to read it for some History classes in High School, but it really is good!
I even read it for my English class and had to write a 7 page essay on it, but I still enjoyed both the book and the movie (although a tad bit depressing [especially the book])
I think it's the greatest American novel ever written. I've read it and reread it time and again, and each time I find new ways to appreciate it. But to each his own.
The idea behind this high school English project was to create a "hollywood" movie trailer for a book. The group decided to use the artistic style of "action-film like cuts" and exaggerated titles with one of the greatest stories ever told to comment on the use of flashy marketing and lack of story in Hollywood.
Doc654 is dead on when saying that you have "action-film cuts" not to mention the echoing of the words in the ending. this could have been done quite a lot better. the shots weren't that great and they did nothing to help along the story-telling. honestly, the people didn't look at that depressed, sad, or anything else you might expect when the bank kicks you off your land and your left to wander aimlessly to california. a little lesson in method acting can cure that.
While we appreciate criticism we're sure those of you who left negative remarks do not posses any practical knowledge of film or the industry. So your comments have been disregarded. Thanks.

That was a great book. In fact - one of my 5 all time favorites. I couldn't put it down. A true America classic.

The "hillbilly music" is actually Tom Joad by Woody Guthrie. It is a song about the book and was written for the film adaptation.

Needs a lot of work guys. Action-film like cuts with sad sounding words isn't going to compare to the story-telling of the original.

The effects with the words were bad; didn't fit.
