I really like the new look of Mazda, especially the new Mazda3. The front of the Mazda2 looks very nice and agressive, but the back end looks a little generic. Kinda like the MX-3. Although I never knew that Mazda would bring out a Yaris-type vehicle.

I rented one recently in Europe, nice punchy engine for only a 1.3 litre, suspension (super hard) so hard that the dash and glovebox lid shook like hell over bumps, lot of rear road noise too, I probably will go for the Fiesta if its better mainly because of the styling and the fact that service rates at our Mazda dealer are 100 euros an hour versus Ford at 40

this mazda looks very similar to the hyundai i20 in europe.

Hyundai has also said that the next gen i20 will be coming to the US but in a performance version packing a 1.6 gdi turbo that will get 140hp and over 40mpg giving the fit, mazda 2 and fiesta a challenge.

Sorry, but in my opinion the Fiesta looks a lot better. I'm sure the Fiesta offers more and is in the same price range. This Mazda "2" looks like a 4 door version of the toyota yaris 2 door coupe. It also looks like a smaller infiniti fx-45 and also a smaller 2007 mazdaspeed3. If you guys are really saying this looks nice, then I really don't know where humanity is going with vehicles. You know what looks nice? A Ford 429 BOSS. I'm sorry but in my opinion this car looks pretty queer. No offense.

I like the Fiesta way more. I live in Europe and see it a lot and it's very boring without the very big rims. A car should look good without big rims, because every car looks good with big ones.

You do have a point with the big wheels...but if I were to compare the faces of the Mazda and Fiesta(weird, I know), the I would ALWAYS choose the Mazda...its just so much more cheerful...and THAT is the whole point of a small hatchback..it has to be cheap AND cheerful ;)
