I cannot express how much I love the way Avishai explores music. He is constantly exploring new ideas and sounds. He is one of my favorite bassists and composers! Please play in the USA in 2011 Avishai!!!! We need your music here!!!!!
@MilesMingusMonk428 I agree with you. I have yet to see Avishai in person. He was supposed to play a several day gig at the Blue Note in NYC fall '09 and it was canceled. He spends less time in the USA as each year passes. Sad.
i'd love to have the piano sheets of this..

The piano part at the beginning reminds me of Chopin's music for some reason..

@guytsemah33353 That's not correct, it is the second track on the new album Seven Seas, and called "About a Tree"
It's not Avishai's composition, it's an old Yiddish lullaby (Oyfn Veg Shteyt a Boym).
He made a most wonderful rendition of it however!

@decayman you can find that yiddish lullaby here as well, just search "yiddish lullaby", it is a brownish animation video, beautiful!

@decayman Well he is right, there is another rendition on one of his earlier albums.

I think it's on the new album "seven seas".

When my child was a baby, I would sing him this lullaby (in yiddish... and I'm moroccan lol) Really hits the heart.
