  • i loooove my saxophone :-X:-X:-X i play over the world on house music and i loove jazz.. i like very very much your interpretation. so nice. take care

  • I absolutely love the saxophone and the guys who play that instrument - sax is romantic, sexy and the type of music that I call "swooning music". "Europa", "She is Michelle", "Blow Your Own Horn", "Ne Me Quite Pas" - - just love them all - my absolute favourite is "Stand By Me" by Fausto Papetti. Cheerio and keep on playing that beautiful music.

  • @The280916 Thanks so much! Yes, you are so right. The saxophone is an absolutely amazing instrument. I will never tire of playing the sax - each time I pick it up I hate to put it down. The thing about the sax that makes it so special is the ability of the player to inflect emotion into the music - the horn allows the player's personality to come through in the tone so well. A lifetime of pursuing the sax dream is not enough! Thanks for listening and please keep listening!

  • Great - so-o-o- beautiful and romantic.

  • @The280916 Thanks! Please keep listening. I love playing these kind of songs... such beautiful progressions and chords. ;) Thanks and please subscribe and keep listening!

  • mm...just relaxing and enjoying!

  • Thanks Levi! Appreciate the kind words from the "KeyMaster"! Keep making those great sounds and if you want to do a duo let me know... I really like your sound!

  • Found the link to this video via SOTW forum. Beautiful interpretation and wonderful tone of one of my all time favorite songs.

  • Thank you! I am actually taking private lessons right now to learn how to growl and scoop and use learn some other useful techniques!

  • I am actually playing this in the Jazz band I am in right now, I play Tenor Sax, and this has inspired me to put a little bit of my own style into my solo but keep it connected to the background music. This is very inspiring!

  • Thanks for listening and I'm glad you are enjoying the fun of the jazz band! This song is a great song to improvise on and it also allows you to put a lot of feeling into the song. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do! And keep playing that sax!

  • you dreamed being a sax giant. Weak up! YOU ARE ONE! dreams happen.

your performances bring people to dream too.

    Marvelous.

  • Randy Sherwood... An unknown Sax giant.

When Randy had recorded CDs I´d buy all of them.

  • Gilson - I am most grateful to you for your wonderful compliment! Though I've dreamt of being a "giant" I consider myself so very lucky just to have learned to play the sax. And I am also very lucky to have such wonderful friends as you who listen and encourage me to continue! Thanks so much my friend!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • Bob - Thanks so much for listening to my interpretation of the song and I hope you keep listening. I do appreciate people like you who know great music and want to keep it alive forever!

    Randy

  • Randy, I truly thought that Gerry was playing "Valentine" with a tenor, it sounds so much like him. He started out playing the tenor, before he switched to baritone. Stan Getz started out on baritone, and switched to tenor. Have you checked out "Mulligan meets Getz meets Mulligan?" That is the original title of the album. They switch instruments on side one. Also, have you heard "Idol Gossip?" Read my review on that one on amazon. I saw Gerry twice, in person. YOU are an amazing player.

  • Bob - thanks so very very much for the encouraging words! I listened a lot to Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker as well as so many of the other greats. I hope to be able to continue my growth chasing the dream these guys exploited. I am most grateful for your kind words and your interest in my music! Thanks again!

    Randy.

  • This is so awesome....sweet and sad all at the same time!!! I especially like that you put so much thought into the appearance of your backgrounds....

  • Thanks so much! Many of the ballads are sweet and sad at the same time! The challenge to playing them is to putting the emotion in the right spots....and I appreciate your compliments!

  • Very heartfelt and beautiful. There are just few songs where the stars seemed to be in alignment when they were composed and this is definitely one. A lovely improvisation that didn't lose the deep romantic nature of the tune.

  • Laurence - thanks so much - kind words from you are always greatly appreciated! I'm glad you liked my rendition of this song. Wishing you a musical and prosperous 2010!

  • Very nice job Randy. You really make that sax sing!

  • Randy - as usual a great job on this song. Love the work on the artsy stuff too! I could listen for hours (actually, I have). Bravo! and Encore!

  • What beautiful sweet music you make.....please, please do more!!!
