  • when i was playing pop warner ball i was able to play in this beauty...best moment of my life...the energy this Stadium brought players has unreal..nothing well EVER come close to the OB

  • R.I.P Orange Bowl. The place where i actually got to talk with a QB of the Canes

  • this stadium should of been built somewhere else not in Little Havana a neighhood full of crime, shoplifters, carjackers and sex offenders. rather built a church on that land.

  • look the new staduim is going to be 5millions times better yes the ornage bowl was great but nothing last forever

  • I live across the street from the old OB stdium 7th street nw 14th ct.

  • Good luck averaging 6,000 fans on a weeknite in this God-forsaken area!

  • @mweiford Not only that but lets be serious florida fan bases especially miami's isn't that strong like other cities and states.

  • I can't count how many times I had gone to the Orange Bowl for a game or a concert. What I do know is that the last few years before the Hurricanes left the stadium was in bad shape. I even remember once when I was seeing rats crawling around.

  • yea it was our own lil dump!! but on a good night 40,000 sounded like 80,000!! i miss the ob!

  • rip ob..i miss u

  • lets go fish

  • I cant believe the city moved the Canes out of the Orange Bowl..so much history inside those walls not only with the Canes but College Football and the Dolphins..truely a sad thing to see..

  • jfk came to Miami and to the orang bowl and spoke at the orangebowl not just sports many events were held there. rip orange bowl

  • @biglum305 Yea thats sad well maybe they can get a stadium on campus now.

  • You cant compare Dolphin stadium to the new ballpark becuase Dolpin stadium is in the middle of nowhere and is open to weather

Look at Safeco Field, Minute Maid Park, The Rogers Center, and the Brewers park (retractable roof stadiums.) All of the cities which those stadiums are located in had or have basketball teams with nice arenas like the AAA. Those stadiums still manage to bring in events year round because THE ROOFS CAN CLOSE and they have other non baseball related rooms to rent.

  • Look at the American Airlines Arena. It brings in plenty of revenue, and you know why? BECAUSE IT HAS A F##KING TEAM PLAYING IN IT FOR HALF THE YEAR! Of course the Miami Arena isn't going to bring in any revenue if there's a brand new arena 100 yards from it. The Miami Heat moved, all the concerts moved, the circus... everything .

  • I don't know what your arguing here, revenue has nothing to do with this. The return for the taxpayer would be job creation, local economic stimulation, and constant hometown exposure on national and global television. Turn on ESPN, "We welcome you to Hialeah, Florida and beautiful (Marlins Ballpark)". Revenue is a baseball figure that has nothing to do with the taxpayer.

  • I'm going to paraphrase a piece by Lewis Black... "You know how you stimulate the economy? You pick a place, it doesn't matter what place and you build a big fuckin' thing. It doesn't matter what it is, just a big fuckin' thing. Then you build a big fuckin' thing restaurant and a big fuckin' thing gift shop. Then the construction workers spend their money at the big fuckin' place, along with millions of others, and their you go!"

  • I love that quote. Black's first HBO show right? lol

It'll be hard to make a restaurant and hotel because, there's only houses all around where the Orange Bowl used to be. They can offer to buy the land from the homeowners but the homeowner might turn it down anyways.

  • The Marlins stadium was about 1/4 full at any given time. This like EVERYTHING the Cuban political Miami "Cosa Nostra" does is a farce to put money in their friends/family pockets in terms of contracts. Who knows how much money will be skimmed . Imagine millions. Ofcourse most of the Miami Cubans are so trained to vote for these parasites that they will all be reelected . Miami needed more money for schools-public transportation- other problems but NOT a stadium.

  • They CAN'T spend the tourist taxes on those things! there are very few things they can spend it on, a stadium is one of them! GO MARLINS!

  • FishFinsHeatCats They CAN'T spend the tourist taxes on those things! there are very few things they can spend it on, a stadium is one of them! GO MARLINS!

    --

What tourist dollars. The tourist need bus transporatation as do many in Miami. The money would have been better spent in many other ways.

Open your eyes man your being lied to by the Miami Cuban politicians. AS USUAL. They will be the ones who reap funds from this directly to their safe deposit boxes as will their friends/family .

  • The taxes used in this deal can ONLY go towards certain things, transportation is not one of them. Tourist tax dollars are used to bring more tourist to the city so we receive more tax dollars. Stadiums, casino's, expanding the airport... all things that fall under that category. Besides the marlins have to stay in South florida because otherwise the Mets fans would have no place to watch their team. LOL.

  • FishFinsHeatCats Besides the marlins have to stay in South florida because otherwise the Mets fans would have no place to watch their team. LOL.

    ---------

I do agree about the Mets fans lol. Guess your right but as Cuban transplant from NY I trust the Cuban Miami politicians REGARDLESS of political party as much as I trust Satan himself . Everything they do is self serving and a scam

  • go fish

  • wow that's sad...i hate to see the old stadiums go even tho they r decrepit and nasty. i cried when they imploded 3 rivers.well not cried lol, but a tear came to my eyes when they played old radio calls of games played there as it fell in on itself

  • donna shalala i hope u die in ur sleep i had memories there and u destroy them u complete dick on a stick that has boobs i hope ur house burns when ur in it

  • do u live down in little havana ??

  • the OB was a piece-o-shyt. It was just like shea stadium and yankee stadium... lots of great memories and games played there but it was out of date and it wasn't up to standard for the amount of visitors to the park. I hate to see it go, but in the long run the canes will be better off.

  • *If* the site becomes home to a new Marlins stadium, I will NEVER step foot in the joint.....on principle alone. Hell, Marlins isn't even grammatically correct, you fucktards.

Donna Shalala is a douchebag. Taking the OB from us is like a kick in the nuts.

  • this is the best comment on youtube i ever seen. donna shalala should be murdered. who cares if that stadium was a piece of shit, me and my dad been season ticket holders since i was 8 now im 15. who cares if it was a dump, it was our dump.

    go canes

  • It was a dump because they did not care for her, neither the City or the Um leadership. No wonder they ended up tossing it around in the end as a bargaining chip in the negociations involving the Florida Marlins new Stadium. It was her time to be remodeled or replaced, but it nevere deserved the end she got. I hope that the Marlins never built a stadium there, as long as they do not put a Walmart Superstore there anything is better than the new Stadium there.

  • i cant wait for the new stadium

  • I hate to see the OB go, with all the memories their for both fans and former players. But the canes get a better place, with an overall better feel. But I just the hurricanes had their own stadium, were they wouldn't have to worry about either NFL or MLB using their facilities, but I know space is limited down their and having a ballpark, dolphin stadium, and then a new stadium for the canes would be an issue for limited land for such a big place.

  • for the marlns... new stadium, new team, new payroll, and most of all a new world series trophy!!! GO FISH

  • Dick Slanga ur just sad cause UM is Still Beating u in the records for baseball and basketball and football and besides i bet FSU rubs there dick on ur face

  • The noles suck...in baseball, football..u name it...always have, always will....in academics too.

  • that's tough to see... the OB is like my 2nd home... seeing it being torn down is like having something ripped outta you

  • this is hard to watch bro... WEST ENDZONE CREW FOR LIFE!!!! OB will never die

  • yeah man i know what you mean its going to suck having to go to dolphins stadium to see um games

and having the OB put to sleep is painful to watch.

  • @ms30x14 Well maybe soon enough they'll get a stadium on campus bro.
