the debate is built on a farfetched premise that Islam and Christianity both claim to be religions of peace , truth is Christians have erroneously claimed that and we went along with it and tried to match their claim, fact is Islam is about justice and life peace comes second to these values , unfortunately you have to take violent measures in certain cases to achieve justice which will then lead to peace,
historically debates are not always meant to prove a point and winning a debate might be based on many pillars, one off is being a better seasoned debater.
actually i think debates are generally against a fundamental Islamic value which is "lakom dinakom wa lia dini" now for the verses you have trouble understanding is a fundamental problem of the way of thinking we Muslims of today suffer ,
it is true that you cannot take the text out of context but one of the failures that we do not seem to grip is that context does not only mean the why and how but it should include the when, most fundamentalists will disagree (and is probably the reason such failure exists) with such view as it means measuring the texts and acts against historical data and environment,
which will of course lead to taking apart their claims for a religious state this failure is the cornerstone of you perceived contradictions the violence is there but it is not an inherent characteristic of the religion but rather a characteristic of the era/event and is a required example for certain turn of events ,,
that is to say had god chosen ideal circumstances for his methodology we would not have known what to do when such dire times came.Although I am not in the market of comparing religions you leave me no choce as you are infering a religious debate ,
As a kid I was sold on Islam as being a realistic religion a religion that will give you the quid pro quo option before advising you that you might be better of with forgiveness rather than ordering you to turn the left cheek a religion that give a divorce option but imposes the idea of it being hateful to god you only have to look at this specific last idea and the uproar facing Christians in Egypt today to appreciate the realism of Islam
Peace for today, looks like Christian (I'm atheist) Jesus might bring a lot of pain tomorrow, though! Personally, I'd choose the justice of a progressive society backed up by science than the stationary law of Islam. As for a man having rights over his wife; I reject that whole view. I don't believe Jesus actually killed any people that wrote against him. Good speakers, good video. To my untrained eye, 28:40 had a cut?
A point to note is that while The Catholic church (when in power) burnt and killed and forced to convert the Jews and Muslims (aka Heathens) The Christians and the Jews lived quite well in muslim lands. That is why the Orthodox Church has survived for more than a 1000 years in lands ruled by PURE sharia for more than a 1200 years. While muslims have been in Europe in mass numbers for only like 50 years, anti Islam feelings have sky rocketed!! Who is more tolerant over all??
Before you try to prove that your religion is peacful, prove that your religion is true. Prove for me that Creation story is true, and that evolution is false (don't tell me that Harun Yahya did prove that evolution is false because it only shows your ignorance)
@maroom1 Nowhere in the Quran does it say that evolution is false. It is through implication however that evolution was natural order guided by God. Human evolution on the other hand is a different story. Once you find that missing link between Humans and apes/lemurs/monkeys/koalas, come back to me :)
There is no religion of peace they all create war!!!
Satan is working on creating peace through the new world order?
The stopping of all religion and freedom...they claim to hate communism but that is their ultimate goal. Just like when they created America for a tax free commune and after the war for no taxes had to start taxing to pay for it!
@MyFishyWishy what about all the love and peace that these religions have brought and which can be truly atributed to them? what about the 2 world wars, which religion caused them??
These two speakers are soooo cute! Each one cites evidence from the religious documents of the other that proves their religion is not one of peace. But it never seems to occur to either one of them that both of their sets of evidence could be right - that both religions are savage, unjust and unpeaceful. Classic effects of longterm religious delusion.
@frid9999 What is the solution then? Are we to carry on with Athiest secularism that values human beings as animals and commodities based on a dubious monetary system for over a hundred years now?
@qarnain06 You said, "What is the solution then? Are we to carry on with Athiest secularism that values human beings as animals and commodities"
1. Do you really believe that? Is that really what admitting there probably are no gods means to you? Who polluted your mind with that nonsense?
2. Are you agreeing with me that the evidence suggests they are both right (about the other) - that both religions are fundamentally unpeaceful, and therefor man-made, and therefor not what they claim to be?
Jay Smith knows exactly what the context of the Qur'an is but he acts like he doesn't know...he talks so passionately to convince his sheep lol hahahaha he's hilarious hahahaha...Allahu Wakbar!!!!
The context of the Quran is Muhammads life. Without knowing his life one cannot understand the Quran. This is because Muhammad served his own best interest. His revelations were both 1. imaginary and 2 self-serving.
@NaomiChambers - "Self serviing" That is 100% INCORRECT. It would've been 1,000,000,000,000% better for Muhammad if he would've taken the bribes that were offered for his silence. Wealth, power, women, and land!!!!! He turned all that down and continued preaching the sincere message he received from the ONE TRUE GOD - ALLAH!!!! George Bush used his anti Islam message to be self serving. Muhammad suffered to bring the beautiful message of Islam. Peace and blessing be upon him!!!!
@Mach2411 "One true god", that's what they all say :D The suffering your "prophet" went through, is nothing compred to what many starving children in Africa go through, and since we're talking of religions, many Sikh "prophets" suffered worse than your "prophet"- and guess what, they're way of battle had more honour and compassion in it. No dealing with spoils of war, no raping of widowed women, no executing young boys, etc. Jainism is also more peaceful a religion than Islam.
@therock27374 - Islam in no way shape or form ever raped widowed women or executed young boys. The measure of suffering is not up to "therock27374" to decide. All prophets suffered and the amount of suffering is irrelevant. The point was that he suffered to bring the message. Peace homie...
The execution of young boys refers to the old testament, the rape of widowed women refers to Islam (practise of your "profit" and his followers- check hadiths).
"The point was that he suffered to bring the message."
None of this makes the message relevant or real, as many people in the past have suffered or died for a lie, or for insanity.
Christianity and Islam, are not religions of peace- as the preaching of eternal torment are evident of this- a cruel, unjust, Satanic being.
@NaomiChambers when he passed away how much wealth did he have? Why did he not spend a life of pomp but preffered a simple lifestyle like the other prophets and told his followers to be in this world as a traveller? You know nothing about him or his lifestyle.
@urheadonastick
Muhammad (saw) my friend... his message will save you and the whole world....
I gave up christianity for Islam! In every aspect, islam is superior to christianity...

Both lies either way. Lies are lies. Stop following lies. G-D doesn't embrace such lies, lies and more lies.

unicorns do not exist
