Is it possible to use the singstar mics to record? I think i saw a video of someone from hiphopgamer rapping into a mic which was recording into a sackbot. Also do you know whether Mm would have used this system to record the cutscene voices in story mode? because they are very high quality recordings...

I tried this using the official PS3 headset and it does sound a bit better. Still not excellent, but definitely reasonable enough to be used in a level without sounding too out of place.

Also important to note that your volume and tone when speaking can actually make a big difference in the quality as well.

What does the output on the magic mouth hook up to?/what does it do?

@tristanjmnz When the magic mouth is over (for example, if you press O to close it) that output will fire. This way you can chain magic mouths or just make something happen when you're done reading one. Perfect for cut scenes/ conversations.

1) Any idea on the recording time limits? Is it defined by the size of the audio stream or a specific length of time?

2) Surely this will lead to some sort of copyright infringement. Ever since I started reading about this feature I've really been wondering about this. Continued in next comment.

All someone would have to do is record a song of Justin Bieber (heaven forbid it's not her) and upload a level with just the magic mouth and boom, instant copyright infringement.

3) The main reason for the quality loss is because of compression, not your headset. Just listen to your voice in the video compared to the voice in the game. Unfortunately at this point, this seems to be the best we'll get. After all, we do have to consider the players without all that bandwidth.

@Crashdance22 The limit is about 1 MB. No real set time since it varies, but about 10 minutes.

I have heard of people getting varying quality with different mics so... I don't know. That 10 min to 1 mb is a pretty tight compression so it makes sense there's such a drop in quality.

@MrFoofles So basically around 10 minutes? That should be universal since the quality would be the same for everyone. Let's see... 10 minutes is 600 seconds, and 1MB is 8192 kilobits. 8192kb/600s ≈ 14kilobits/sec. That's compared to 350kilobits/sec, which is standard for MP3 audio. But yet, it's likely MM is using much better compression, such as MP4 audio or OGG, and so while the bitrate is still significantly less, it wouldn't mean as much loss in this case.
