@Dominic4n I wouldn't call it an Empire, but I get what you're saying i.e. World Bank, Saudi Arabia, Panama etc. Eh I'm contradicting myself, I don't know, I live here, so I don't want to say shit about it.
oh come the fuck on.... that one guy was just working the fields. his tractor was still giving off heat. the other two looked a bit dodgy, but that could have just been a farmer trying to support his family. he was probably like "da fuck are you doing in my field?....." followed by getting torn apart by a 30mm. like am i the only one who sees this farmer getting killed? wrong place at the wrong time
All of you flag waving morons should watch the analysis of the video posted by Thunderf00t.
The killing of unarmed civilians; and the fact that so many of you are so keen to trivialise or justify it doesn't say much for America's moral discipline in this war.
What is evident is that three farmers were just obliterated on the whim of an apache gunner with a remarkably itchy trigger finger.
@unplumbedgibbon what is also evident is that they had reason to expect that they were armed and dangerous "farmers" and if u dont like the fucking war dont watch the videos then comment on them
@unplumbedgibbon Moral Discipline? Have you ever been to Baghdad? diwaniya? karbala? al hillah? I have & Until you have been in the boots of those on the ground who have shed blood sweat and tears to keep the fight over there and bring each other home, then your words will be full of ignorance and hold no ground. I have served my country for 9 years, lost a good wife and happy family due to my service.
I can't believe anyone is saying anything negative about what these pilots did. It is a war. They had weapons. It is hardly the pilots fault that these people "couldn't engage them" or 2 of the three were unarmed, or whatever. The guy in the beginning of the video is pacing off a distance. Been there, seen that. The chopper pilots may not have been saving their own lives that night, but they were and did save the lives of other coalition forces from an ambush.
if only he got that rocket launcher out in time, would be epic to see the rednecks in that heli get smoked, much more interesting when justice is done and a American in Iraq dies isnt it? :D
Lol he REALLY wanted to hit that truck :P he was like "take 'em out" "uh ok hit the truck?" "No a little bit ahead of the truck take him out" *Fires at the truck and the guy* OWNED... :)
(A) The idea that farmers work at night in hot climes makes sense, but this incident took place on 12/1/03, supposedly near Tikrit, Iraq. Couldn't find any weather records for Tikrit, but I did find some for Baghdad (90 mi south) whose Dec average high is 62F; average low 42F. There would be no reason for farming at night in this scenario, except that when you're frantic to plant or harvest, you might farm night and day. However, I googled stuff like "farming at night, (CONT')
(B) marking posts" & I couldn't come up with a text or image showing the use of marking posts at night. It seems the tractor just uses its headlights. Also, during a war, local people I would think, would tend to stay out of harm's way at night. So the argument that they were "just farming" becomes less rigorous. Still, I don't see why they had to exterminate the 3, since, when they were shot, they weren't armed. (with the possible exception of the Iraqi to our left of the tractor)
Also, there's the issue of whether it's right to kill people who aren't even aiming a weapon weapon at you. I guess it would depend on the context of the war at that given point in time & space. Can anyone explain why the gunner couldn't have wasted the putative weapons & all 3 vehicles, and then taken the Iraqis prisoner? It is us that invaded their country, & not the other way around.
The killing of the injured man should have resulted in a life sentence for whoever ordered this.
@filthyphillyboy Why? If you're wounded by a 30mm cannon, no amount of medical miracles will save you. At that point you're already dead. He just put him out of his misery.
Like I say, I'm more inclined to think there was a weapon in the bag, but I'm still not sure. Whether I'm sure or not doesn't really matter though, does it? It's whether the Apache commander giving the orders to fire is right about the existence of a weapon. I'll ask again, does any one know what the BDA came up with as far as whether RPG's, etc were found afterward, & if so, can anyone give a source citation for it?
What is worthy of debate is, how was the commander of the Apache absolutely sure the bag had a weapon in it if you can't see what's in the bag? In my earlier posts I was convinced that the 2 Iraqis had no weapons. In the last 24 hours I've gone over tons of info on the internet regarding this incident. I'm now more inclined to believe that there was a weapon in the bag. Unlike a lot of posters here, I will change my mind & admit I could have been wrong about something when I see evidence for it.
I've gone over this & other copies of this vid many times. I think the victims were innocent. OK, one can't be positive about some of this stuff: I could be wrong.
Does anyone know what the BDA (I assume that means Battle Damage Assessment) does anyone know if the long bag w/the supposed weapons in it was found to actually have weapons in it?
Or did they just decide the killers weren't at fault because even though the bag may not have had guns in it, good reason existed for them to think so?
(F) Maybe we'll never positively know whether or not the bag had weapon(s) in it, but it seems you'd have to reject probability, and embrace improbabilities, to believe such.
In my eyes, I saw what looked to be a Father and His son blasted to pieces a moment after a fond Father-son moment.
(E) Moments later, the (son?) meets the same fate. But before he dies, he appears to be pulling out whatever's in the bag. He doesn't ever look at the (Father?), so apparently never knew his (Father?) had been killed, since he couldn't hear the 30 MM fire. At the end, the 3rd man, though still alive, is finished off w/more 30 MM fire. (CONT')
(D) @2min29sec the tractor operator (the father?) looks to be kissing the other man. (his son?) It's not uncommon in Eastern European cultures for the Father to kiss the son, much like in the US, except instead, you might slap your kid on the back, as a sign of encouragement. The (Father?) then dismounts from the tractor as the (son?) takes his place. A moment later the (father?) is gone from this world. (CONT) [1 16 10]
(C) @ 1:55 he gets out to the last contour line but doesn't go near the "weapon".
@ 2min18sec you hear a 30 MM burst, but as the son, or whoever he is, approaches the farm tractor, that's now finished another field circumfrence, he seems to slow down with a nonchalant hop & a skip, then stands to the side of the tractor a couple seconds. He doesn't even know he's been shot at. (CONT')
(B) In hot climates, even in the US, it's common to farm at night w/the use of headlights & marking stakes. The fact that the man (the son?) drops the long bag a couple plow widths past the last contour line would indicate he's placing them at the ready to be put in place soon, by the time the tractor (not seen yet) makes a couple more circumfrences of the field. Then he runs back. Already you hear the command "smoke him". (CONT')
(A) @ 0min 11sec if you pause vid you can see clock readout in U. left corner 16:25:42 Z. (16:25 Zulu time which is about 6:30 PM Kosovo time, very possibly dusk) Looks like a farm truck & a P-U truck.
@ 0:33 the (young?) man is crossing what look like contoured lines of a plowing operation. He drops what looks like a bundled bag of (stakes?) maybe 10 ft beyond the last contour line. (CONT')
And marker pole? You may be an idiot. I am not. And neither were the pilots.
Watch the video, and use your brain. 2:40-2:43. A man got blown up less than 50 meters away less than 2 seconds before. Are you claiming the man to the left of the tractor was unaware of that fact?
And what IS that object he is so desperately pulling out of that bag? A marker pole? In the middle of a fire fight? Going to try to do some surveying in the middle of a firefight?
You would have to be God's own idiot to believe that.
And the fact you won't admit what you are seeing him do means that the facts don't fit your agenda. So you are lying to try to make your case.
It is pathetic and transparent. Are you really this stupid? I am beginning to suspect you are a sockpuppet for thunderfoot. He had a cultish devotion to inventing a story so he could claim the pilots were murderers.
The problem is your statements just don't fit the facts.
Now you are a mindreader. Telling us what they saw, and what they thought. In short you don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about, and you don't have the character to admit it.
They stated what they saw, and three seperate helicopters confirmed weapons. The apache could have moved closer, and they could have made a run for smoothies and offered them.
However, since they confirmed weapons in enemy hands in a war zone, they did not.
We engage Taliban every day but for that strike our cobra pilots would be courtmartialed. There was no weapon. Seemed more like they were trying to bug the guy in the tractor plowing his field.
they werent farmers here are some tips first of all hes carrying an RPG-7 second that was an enemy vehicle used to to transport weapons and terrorist and you can see in the back of the big transport truck little blak lines those were weapons
yea look at that that realy looks like a gun have a look you cant conferm it but ,say some 5 year old walked down the street with a toy gun dose that mean you can shoot him too becase it looks like he has a gun?
That's a pretty funny looking RPG. It's wrapped in a bundle; so we don't know what it is but it's most likely a farming tool. We might have been able to tell what it was if the camera wasn't set to infra red; and judging by the clock it's only 7pm
Also the person carry the "RPG" kisses the man on the tractor on the cheek. Hardly behavior of an insurgent
Finally; mention is made of "the weapons in their hands". What weapons?
oh thats right, I apologise. insurgents cant kiss their comrades because kissing is a western invention that originated in america in 1980, and therefore of the great satan. I forgot about that, good point.
It's only 7 PM... the lighting is irrelevant because you the camera only HAS infrared, normal sighting isn't accurate enough. The weapons mentioned weren't "in their hands" they were referring to the rpg.
"are you blind or retarded...he throws a gun or rpg into the field at :45 "
How do you know it's a gun? It isn't thick enough to be an RPG and what threat would either of those be to an apache helicopter? Aren't they supposed to "return fire only" just in case something like this happens
any threat to american soldiers, or possible threat will be taken care of by us soldiers. these guys were just doing their job. and yes, that wasn't a weapon they were carrying. It was actually a giant toothbrush that way they could share good morals with their buddies.lol
Yeah that is why he was desperately trying to pull his "farming tool" out of the bag while 30mm cannon shells are exploding 50 meters away. He was hoping to do some last minute ditch digging with an RPG.
Son, I served in GW1 in a bradley. If I had seen what these pilots saw, those men would be just as dead (25mm dead instead of 30mm dead). The fact is he was hiding military weapons in a war zone.
There is no explanation for doing so that I can imagine (trying to put myself in his place) other than putting aside weapons he planned to use later (or provide to others who use them).
Whether the RPG would be a threat or not to the apache is irrelevant. It would be a threat to a hummer.
Those pilots saw someone run up a hill onto an irregularly ploughed field with a lightweight rod-shaped object. They did not see enough to confirm that what they were holding was a weapon. It could easily have been a marker pole for the field
The apache could also have moved closer to see if they would react to an armed American helicopter
thats the idea. they knew they were being watched and that they were in deep shit. why the hell would somebody notice a helicopter then take off in a field then toss a rake?

oh thats right, I apologise. insurgents cant kiss their comrades because kissing is a western invention that originated in america in 1980, and therefore of the great satan. I forgot about that, good point.
It's only 7 PM... the lighting is irrelevant because you the camera only HAS infrared, normal sighting isn't accurate enough. The weapons mentioned weren't "in their hands" they were referring to the rpg.
nice try.

"insurgents cant kiss their comrades"
It's not that they can't it's that they wouldn't
"The weapons mentioned weren't "in their hands" they were referring to the rpg"
The crew refer to the weapons as "in their hands" and there is nothing to indicate that the rod-shaped object could be an RPG
There was no good reason to kill the three men. The Apache didn't even approach them to give them a warning
bluecode320 3 years ago
if you look closely there is a guy holding a weapon that is other than the "rpg"
lordspyrox 3 years ago
I can't see a gun; or anything which would give the apache reason to destroy the three men

are you blind or retarded...he throws a gun or rpg into the field at :45

"are you blind or retarded...he throws a gun or rpg into the field at :45 "
How do you know it's a gun? It isn't thick enough to be an RPG and what threat would either of those be to an apache helicopter? Aren't they supposed to "return fire only" just in case something like this happens
bluecode320 3 years ago
any threat to american soldiers, or possible threat will be taken care of by us soldiers. these guys were just doing their job. and yes, that wasn't a weapon they were carrying. It was actually a giant toothbrush that way they could share good morals with their buddies.lol
parkerbob99 2 years ago
They weren't a threat to anyone and the object they were carrying was probably a farming tool
bluecode320 2 years ago
Yeah that is why he was desperately trying to pull his "farming tool" out of the bag while 30mm cannon shells are exploding 50 meters away. He was hoping to do some last minute ditch digging with an RPG.
Rasnixful 2 years ago
He dropped it on the ground before the apache fired. And even an RPG could not have threatened the apache at that range.

The apache could also have moved closer to see if they would react to an armed American helicopter

go to 2:08 in the video
"DO YOU SEE THEM HOLDING THE WEAPONS"
"YES"
what are they holding dirt
creamycurdy 3 years ago
"what are they holding dirt"
Yes; they're going to attack the US military using handfuls of dirt and a rake
The crew of the apache should be charged with murder
bluecode320 3 years ago
thats the idea. they knew they were being watched and that they were in deep shit. why the hell would somebody notice a helicopter then take off in a field then toss a rake?
piss on em
knosejt 3 years ago
"why the hell would somebody notice a helicopter"
At that range I doubt they could hear it and I think they would surrender if they knew an apache was going to attack
"then take off in a field then toss a rake?"
It looked like a marker pole; used to guid the tractor. And why would they toss a rifle; they're common place in Iraq/Afghanistan

your a retard.
rivaltuna 3 years ago
so 3 farmers died not insurgents
creamycurdy 3 years ago
Yes, 3 RPG farmers growing weapons in the middle of a war zone!
Grow the fuck up. These men were hiding weapons in a field in the middle of a war zone. That makes them enemy combatants.
And all the whining in the world won't change that.
