This was solved. A 54 year old man, Jesus Mezquia, was sentenced in 2004 to 36 years for her rape and murder. Pretty sad that someone can rape and murder a 27 year old and only get 36 years. I'm sure that had he not killed her, she would've had more than 36 years left.
I just saw the Mia Zapata tragedy on CI. What a sad story.
