In case it hasn't been brought to light here yet, Seltzerberg is coming out with a new movie in 2012, meant to spoof Avatar: "The Biggest Movie of All Time 3D." Face, meet palm.
Unfortunately, I think these Seltzer and Friedberg, whether or not it's intentional, are capitalizing on bile fascination. It's different from the "So bad it's good" genre. Bile fascination is more like slowing down to see a car crash or like Rosario Dawson's reaction to the donkey show in Clerks 2.
Seltzerberg needs to stop making films. Even after 3 years that this vid was posted, they still put out this kind of junk and make plenty money to justify making more! I hate Twilight a lot but not a single thought crossed my mind to spend one brown penny to see Vampires Suck. It boggles my mind on how that movie made over $10M on its first weekend! And sadly, it's not just the pre-teens helping these fools make a profit!

It doesn't even matter if most of us don't go to see these movies. The tickets are so expensive, that even a handful of people going to see it makes them a fortune. Add to that the product endorsements and the movie theater's advertizements, and all you need to be a success it a movie that's cheap to produce. It's kind of like "The Producers." I think they're making the movies suck on purpose.

@kainhall As far as I know, there were four "Scary Movies." The first two were directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans. (I think they suck.) And the third and fourth were directed by the Zucker brothers (same guys who did "Airplane!" and "Hot Shots"). You'll notice that none of the Wayans brothers appeared in the third and fourth movies, and Leslie Neilsen joined the cast. (They're considerably funnier than the first two, but aren't really parodying scary movies anymore.)

It doesn't even matter if most of us don't go to see these movies. The tickets are so expensive, that even a handful of people going to see it makes them a fortune. Add to that the product endorsements and the movie theater's advertizements, and all you need to be a success it a movie that's cheap to produce. It's kind of like "The Producers." I think they're making the movies suck on purpose.

@ShawnRavenfire well. the theater pays so mutch money for the film roll, say (in my small town) 1000 bucks. and if they estimate that 100 people are going to wathc the show thats 10 bucks a ticket. but thats only even, they still have utility bills etc. thats why its like 20 bucks a ticket. and i live in a town of 3000 in montana. and personally i think these are funny as hell. do you know how many scary move remakes tehre are.

@kainhall As far as I know, there were four "Scary Movies." The first two were directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans. (I think they suck.) And the third and fourth were directed by the Zucker brothers (same guys who did "Airplane!" and "Hot Shots"). You'll notice that none of the Wayans brothers appeared in the third and fourth movies, and Leslie Neilsen joined the cast. (They're considerably funnier than the first two, but aren't really parodying scary movies anymore.)

@ShawnRavenfire Actually, two of the screenwriters for "Scary Movie," (shockingly, they did have writers) were Jason Freidberg and Aaron Seltzer, who went on to write and direct "Date Movie," "Meet the Spartans," "Disaster Movie," "Epic Movie," and "Vampires Suck." Craig Mazin, who was also a writer for "Scary Movie" went on to direct "Superhero Movie."
"Not Another Teen Movie" was directed by Joel Gallen, is completely unrelated to this family of movies, and a million times funnier.

And it's directed and written by friedburg and selzter, so it's garanteed to be devoid of anything actually funny.

Scary Movie 3 was actually tolerable for me... I think it was because after they wrote a really shitty script for it, they brought in some Zucker and Abrams alums who actually made parts of it funny. When it veered into the territory of those classics, it was ok, when it veered into these jerkoffs' territory, it was awful.
