  • I dont know why people here are bashing on v6 owners. I have a 2011 gt because it was in my price range. Some people cant afford a gt, some dont want to pay the higher insurance. Others dont race their cars. Not everyone races. I have a son and whenever some loser wants to show he has big balls by racing me, if my 4 year old is in the car they can go fuck themselves. Ive got nothing to prove to anyone. Leave the v6 owners alone. Nothing wrong with the 2011 v6.

  • You guys know that hp isn't everything. A V8 will put the power down a lot better than a v6. I still think the new v6 is impressive. But the 5.0 is even more impressive. 05 gt here.

  • @SuicideShaun Yes the 'new' 5.0 *is* impressive. However the new 2011+ v6 with a cai and tune, will hang and pull on 05-10 GT's slightly actually.. The difference is only 10HP (and about 300 lbs weight..). Guess how I know they pull; I slapped on a CAI, tune, and have run with some buds with their 4.6's (1 manual, and 1 auto -whereas I am in an auto...) They are all itching to get into a new 2013 quick-like...

    Hey I wouldn't mind a v8 too, but being practical and all - I like my V6. :)

  • Never in my life had I thought I'd have a hard time choosing between a V6 and a V8. This thing's a MONSTER.

  • Add 4.10 gears, I bet the automatic transmission and aftermarket torque converter will make wonders paired with the 4.10 gears. You should really think about doing that.

  • @dppaintballer123 That is not an easy question to answer, as not everything they added was "useful".

    I would say that a bare bones V6 performance package should be about 22500 after rebate, and that would lower the amount of aftermarket gear required considerably.

    With that you get race wheels, race tires, strut tower brace, sway bar, and better traction control + brakes. You would still need to pay a bit for better strut mounts, lower control arms, and possibly lower rear springs.

  • @dppaintballer123 Add the driveshaft for $600 and 3.73 gears for another few hundred, plus a catbck exhaust and I think you would be around 25k.

    The supercharger kit is another 5k on top of that. I think you could get a V6 that runs in the 11's for ~30k inclusive, which is about the same cost as a GT.

  • @SleepingWithKellin Generally, parts from Ford (such as Ford racing) will NOT void a warranty IF installed by a certified Ford technician. However, certain parts from any brand cannot fully void a warranty. Only if that modification can be proved to fail a warranty part. For example: if you put an AEM cold air intake on your car and your hood falls off, then obviously the CIA did not cause that and you are fine. However a drivetrain problem you may not be as lucky with.

Also, the insurance is more for the v8 and has less MPG and I'm sure none of us need the extra 100 hp/tq to get from point A and B.. especially if you're young the insurance is very high. Much rather have a '11/'12 v6 than a '10 v8. (Would love the 5.0 as anyone else would but can't afford it)

  • @xNibz12345 The core mods required for this are no where near 15k, and the base price on the V6 is 10k less than the V8.

    The performance package V6 you get the upgraded suspension and race tires for 23k total delivered.

    Add the cost of the SC, and you are at 29k. With the driveshaft it is ~30k, and you will be about this fast.

    That is cheaper and faster than a GT. It's also more of a challenge. Anyone can lay down cash for a larger displacement engine.

    If this is a "woman's" car with 305 stock HP, what does that make the 1985 GT with it's 210 stock HP?

    The 3.7 cyclone duratech is one of the best engines ever made, and it was not made for a 2nd rate car.

    Ford decided to "stop doing that". That engine has forged steel rods and crank, oil cooled pistons, dual timing chains, and DOHC fully independent programmable timing heads.

    Blueprinted with forged piston heads it could compete with the old Supras.

  • @xNibz12345 naw, it isn't quite $15k, but close enough. i am debating on doing some of these mods to my 3.7L mustang or trade it for an 2007-09 gt500 which i have seen anywhere from $29k-37k. i'm not sure yet what i want to do, but i'll know buy feburary.

    @ the chauvinists; no Mustang was made for a specific sex. All are, however, target a specific demographic. In the case of the V6 Mustang, the demo is an age group; usually young adults with limited funds and astronomical insurance premiums. I chose my V6's because V8's are easy. I also built the 06; I didn't hand it to a shop - The 06 is 414HP / 480TQ. The 2011 will get some love soon.
