  • I think it was Jimmy bain

  • Bain and Robertson did the backing vocals

  • @taekwongr Who among them is Jimmy Bain?

  • @rallyivan1234

Jimmy Bain is the one in the red t shirt.

  • That was Robbo who sang that... can tell that a mile away!

  • This guy should know - he played the drums!

  • What an intimate performance! Jeez why I've not come across this still I'll never know. Thanks very much. Awesome rare performance. Anyone know the bass model Phil's playing? It's lovely and something I've never seen him sport.

  • Its Jimmy's Bass not Phil's

  • WOW this takes me back a while,I used to follow Wild Horses way back, they used to turn up and play in some really obscure small pubs and sometimes Phil would come on as a guest,FANTASTIC days and so missed.Well done for posting.

  • Nice ending solo by robbo!

  • THank You!! Thank you! Thank YOu! What a great clip! Phil and Robbo playing again after he quit the band. I miss Phil. No Lynott no Thin Lizzy!

  • You are welcome friend

  • Still a great clip...said it months ago and I'll say it again. I have audio of Lynott doing the intro for the TV show, followed by Wild Horses playing the song "Reservation". I'm assuming there's video of that portion of the TV show as well...any chance you have that. If so, you should put it up.

  • Hey Sabfan, thanks for informing me, I don't have this clip but I will try to track it down through the Lizzy community

  • reservation!. . now there's a tune !

  • RIP Phil

  • Taekwongr Your THE MAN!

  • This is a response to Marzrye, It was filmed in Newcastle on Tyne in the late 70's. It was a local show called "alright now", I was there that night. I remember the producer stopped the guys playing halfway through and really bollocked the crowd for "not being lively enough" It was so sureal to see this again, as we didnt have a video back then.

Real happy days. Thanks for reminding me when I was 17

  • Brian Robertson kicks fucking ass.He played slash's style when slash was still 4 yrs old.

  • that bass has some serious growl going on

  • i think poor robbo is gone very heavy on the drink. pity, great great player

  • excuse the Kings english but these fuckin riffs rock..

  • Wonderful...Rare...I wonder if this was a Marquee gig...Thats where their very first gig was with this line up... and I was there...yes....Memories are good..

  • Then this should be the greatest memory of all lol!

  • Many many thanks!!!!

  • Please upload those 2 0r 3 originals they played on this show. :))

If you have it that is. :D

Thank you for this, rock on!

    Viv

  • somebody upload the first wild horses record

  • I think Robbo should hang up his guitar. He was fucking amazing in Thin Lizzy and I saw him in 1978 with Lizzy at Lewisham Odeon. Saw him with Wild Horses With Michael Schenker and Phil. Saw him last on a lynott tribute dvd and he was terrible.

  • !. The doctor was there for Jimmy Page. Dr. Nick. Carried a road case of all sorts of things. Had a medical degree from some Italian medical school.

    2. Frankie Miller opened for Seger in 86, with Robbo and Phillip Anthony Taylor(I will never call him Philthy Animal. He's my mate). My, did I have some fun with those two. Both funny as hell.

  • This is just alright (but cool to see!); I really loved both Wild Horses albums, especially 'Stand Your Ground.' This must be from the SYG period with John Lockton on second guitar after Neil Carter had quit to join Gary Moore's band.

  • This is with Neil on gtr... he left WH to join UFO... scar face came later

  • Clive!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice to meet you on YT! So I take it you were not too fond of Mr. Lockton? ;-)

What are you up to these days?

  • Sorry, everyone called Gary M 'scar face', John was a great lad. Im still making loads of noise at the back!!!

  • I thought you were referring to John as 'Scar Face' until I realized you meant Neil joined UFO first and then Gary Moore. ;-)

Re: Wild Horses - are there any promotional videos for either album or any official concert footage? Any label putting the TFAlbum and SYGround back in print that you know of? I have the vinyls (TFAlbum was my first ever Japanese import LP!) all the 7" singles, and the Japanese 'Burrn! Legendary Masters' CD re-issues, but not the Zoom Club versions w/ the bonus tracks.

  • No idea on any WH re-issues, they wouldn't tell me anyway or they would have to pay me! remember, the band are the last people to get anything. I have just posted a couple of homebrew vids of my new band WireHead.

  • Which is a more than you do

  • It's so cool to get to listen to Wild Horses here on YT (I've looked before with no success until now...) and to get to converse with you...I own both albums on vinyl and I'm a Pat Travers fan as well (are you on Putting it Straight...I have it on vinyl with no liner notes and I've heard that it was you but then I heard it was Nico...(?) I'm also a big fan of UFO, Thin Lizzy, Rainbow...too many others to list, but everybody in WH... I'll be checking out WireHead... and your "channel".

  • I agree this version of "Are You Ready" sucks compared to about the 10 or so other performances of it that I've heard, but I've always liked this song...a really simple riff with a sick groove...it goes to show you don't need to play 1000 mph or have 2000 notes/chords in a riff for it to be good.

  • Nice!!!

  • Wow - this must be very rare - thanks. But you can see why Wild Horses never got anywhere - that is the worst version of Are You Ready I've ever heard. Plus Jimmy Bain was a shocking junkie and a terrible influence on Phil's lifestyle - I think it sux how he's still here and Phil isn't.

  • Well can't say that you are wrong with that and looks that Robbo without having Scott by his side can't deliver much of Lizzy's guitar fame.

  • what are you saying? that Robbo can't deliever on guitar without Scott? Well Motorhead's Another Perfect Day proves that wrong. just as Bad reputation shows how scott works well on his own.

  • Yes! Jimmy Bain was a shocker & Wild Horses were a pub band. Robbo must have wondered what he was doing there! If only he and Phil had made it up instead of him walking out on the best hard rock band ever. The rest of the story may not have been so tragic. Robbo went to Motorhead! They never understood him and they had no ear for melody so that was a non starter.Gary Moore's still flailing away on his fretboard today at a million miles an hour but Robbo could do it better.

  • Motorhead and Robbo worked great on the album they did, Lemmy does have an ear for melody and that album brought it out, don't underestimate Motorhead. As for Gary Moore flailing away on guitar, well I saw him a few months ago and it was mainly melodic blues stuff not shred, so i'd hardly call it flailing, I still like Robbo better.

  • Yeah, but Gary Moore could still "flail" if he wanted to, while I doubt Robbo could. Just because Gary prefers to play blues now doesn't make him any less of a player. I do agree with the Robbo/Scott working relationship though, back in the day they could work on their own and succeed at what they wanted to do.

  • no that other guy said flailing in a bad way saying that robbo couldn't play. Garys blues stuff is great, its just robbo is my favourite and these days gary is a better player, but still for me its all about Robbos playing on Live and Dangerous and APD, not to take away anything from Garys phenomenal skills.

  • no way i tak away anthing but i miss phil;

  • I wonder when Jimmy started his drug habbit? It could have been when he was living in Golders Green with Zepps road crew? As I recall the crew were given $400.00 a week to buy drugs & they also had a Doctor on tour that wrote scripts out.

Phil had deep issues & I am not going to mention them but they are understandable. It has to deal with the Irish culture. Phil was a beautifull tall good looking nice man. He was very innocent when he first toured. It wasn't Jimmy's fault!
