No one's clapping or cheering when they introduce the Singapore Flyer... Weird. They should clap and cheer!!! It's a New Singapore Icon!! I would clap and cheer, to build up the atmosphere... It's too dead there!
I dont really like Singapore Flyer though it seems a quite waste of money $30 for 30 mins? Too Expensive! But i got to say i proud that Singapore Flyer is one of the World's Talles Ferris Wheel you can Find! If it is your first time must Try it not Recommended for more than one try it would tend to be boring after that!
Waw , From Ferris Wheel to Educations why don't every 1 just chill? don't just compare with each other. we are all the same , you and me shall die one day.
fyi, we do not need to boast abt anything our fine country has to offer, it's always reported by prestigious US TV stations, which sometimes make me so emotional to think that many countries looked down on our small country right from the beginning when we gained independence, but we proved them wrong within such a short period of not even half a decade!
@orornei27 i agree with you. i feel extremely proud of what we have achieved as a nation since independence. Who would have thought that a tiny island with no natural resources would make it thus far?
It's really unfair to compare rankings without considering the size of the country, but we aren't afraid of that at all, cos we hv beaten many large countries in many aspects which i'm so proud of! Singapore is small enough, but so many foreigners r still flocking here till today. Lastly, I'm very glad to hv received 100% Singapore education from Kindergarten up to University @ NUS. =)
the housing prices has gone up skyhigh~ car prices are always very high~ mrt and bus and taxi fares are always rising~ evey S$1.50 chicken rice is now S$3.00~ working salary has gone down / retrenched~ ERP prices are rising everytime~ how? migrate lo~
Its about the same as Hongkong, USA, London and many more places. Moreover, our prices are consider cheaper if you try to compare with these countries.
i love this country and i am not going to leave it, anyway the flyer broke down as the no.1 machine caught fire it wasn't the design fault,so stop saying that the design was like shit!
lol. I am thinking of leaving Singapore because the educational system is too warped and really competitive. + I feel like some little dog in Sg and there's nothing to do here.
I'm planning on leaving for Australia. Got a house there and all. + Aiming for Melbourne University, which is rather hard. But I have a long road ahead of me and I don't want to spend it in Singapore. I gotta get out of here.

Me too, im getting out from Singapore. Planning to move to Beijing then Massachusetts =)
this country really irks me. the people, the education system and basically everything else! I really cant take it here anymore. Wanna move out from this crappy place!
How come? Singapore has one of the world's finest education system, transport and security.
Though, I know that living in Singapore just seems to feel stress often. Even though Japan, etc may look more likely to produce stress, Singapore however just gives the stress. Perhaps its due to the strict rules and high-rise buildings every way. Though it is a garden city here, the place is just too urban and barely any rural areas left, except Pulau Ubin and Southern Islands.
i have never heard of about any good university in singapore mate we assume even ozy as a nation with bad education because obviously none of their universities are famous internationally and eventhough it's a english speaking country and our allies but both canada and ozy universities aint eligible enough to boast the entire world and surprise us.
Education doesn't always imply on University only. I was talking about the "overall" education. Primary to University. Though, the more famous university in Singapore is NUS.
skeen bruv that's helpful is education free for anyone in Singapore or does everyone have to pay for tuition fees start from nursery school?get me some clue pls how overall education in Singapore is brilliant? The ranking? i just found out that wicked web site and it has reported that we've got 4 world's best universities out of 6..damn i reckon that's epid innit?but unfortunately i cant find NUS until 29.also the best school(yank term) in NYC is Columbia which is ranked at 11th how batty?
The reason why I said Singapore has one of the world's better education is because of this few points:
- Though Education isn't free in S'pore, there are pretty much positive sides of it.
- We have this "Edusave" system. The govt would deposit money into this account that every student has, and it can be use to pay whatever fees that's needed for any other "extra" fees that has to be paid. Like overseas trip organised by the school.
- For people who aren't very rich, the can apply for FAS (Financial Assistance Scheme). Whereby your school fees will be partially subsidize and the student will be able to obtain free textbooks, uniforms, shoes, and other essential items that are needed.
- We don't focus only on education, we focus on self-development as well. For example, CCA (Co-Curriculum Activities) and CME lessons.
- There's a guarantee of a minimum of 10 years education by MOE that all Singaporeans have to be in school.
With all due respect to the wonderful people of Singapore - there isn't enough money in the world to make me get on that wheel, and yesterdays malfunction strengthened my feeling.
What's wrong with having a ferris wheel in singapore? Many countries have it, why can't you people just accept the fact that there's one more ferris-wheel instead of comparing which is biggest or better? or even a copy from others?
Each country has their own speciality.
It may be copied but all of them wanted to attract more tourists so as to earn more money for the country.

LOL thanks for the most hilarious joke blad it really makes me laugh as bonkers

I said "one of the most".
Even if you do not want to study Singapore's education, there are still quite a few foreign schools here in Singapore.
For education, quite a number of countries are using Singapore's Math Syllabus to teach. For example, parts of United States uses it.
