I like sonic syndicate, i think they're ok... but just that. Kalmah is a whole other level of music and art... not actually saying that they are better, since this is all about taste, but for sure they're more technical, more innovative and more... melodic death. Sonic syndicate isn't really melodic death, it reminds me of metalcore most of the times
