we did not have thousands of different currencies before the fed, our currency was gold and silver coins. The bank notes printed by individual banks were just receipts that represented the gold and silver in their vaults. when a depositor deposited their gold ad silver into the banks they were given paper recipes to represent the metals, the depositor would then present the receipt to the bank for deliverance of the bullion (real money) on demand

You're not making any sense. How exactly are home prices going to skyrocket if nobody can get a loan? The reason they skyrocketed in the first place was because *everybody* could get a loan with little down and more than they could really afford. Banks will just require 20% down, that's all. Seller can take back notes to, providing financing - no bank involved.
