I loved the city, But trust me no one can visit Ansterdam for the first time and not have a near miss with a bike. I live in Amsterdam and having spent many years living in the UK I can assure you that I actually quite enjoy bumping into a group of stoned Brits and I'm much more likely to engage with them than I ever was likely to engage the pissed-up on the streets the UK. But anyway, I'm not 100% sure about all this since it's not implemented yet, if you go to Amsterdam now you can still get weed the normal way :)

So just ask for a local to buy the weed for you. I'm from Amsterdam myself and even without the coffeeshops, weed is extremely easy to get.
