There were 3 stages on where the turtles changed size and color. Not until the last few seasons they had eyes. I wonder if the masks where ment to be thicker back in the early 03 seasons?

And Michelangelo had blank eyes for a sec.

I really think the producers need to go back and rethink the whole of TMNT as a show.

In the 2k3 version they made it much more like the comic, gritty and serious but the added comic touches made it such a great show!

Ever since 4Kids got their hands on the rights it's all gone downhill.

I hope they will eventually find a way of restoring it back to its 03 epicness!

@MJforever3057 ROFL, you're right! I hadn't even noticed the huge shoes (or boots, whatever). And why are they wearing those awful tight clothes in the first place? What happened to the NINJA turtles? I mean, they used to fight the Foot Clan wearing nothing more than their belts and weapons, and now they ride deluxe bikes and skateboards on the city rooftops in white leggings! o_O

if they want the people at nickolodean (ho brought the rights to the show) to suceed, they should really consider ideas from the audience (like new characters or episodes). That way, they would get what the viewers want, and possibly other ideas as well. Unless they want this GREAT show to fail (personally before back to the future), they should use the old styles of animation (2003 series) and just go back to the dark and action like story line.

I dont think its fair to say this series became bad after the forth season... I thought the fifth was pretty damn good and was a fitting ending to the series with the final demise of the foot and bringing everything full circle when it comes to the origins of the turtles and the shredder. my biggest complaint with season 7 is the animation and the series overall is the justice force (makes it feel like the shredder and the turtles are nothing in the grand scheme)

I think it went down hill after fast forward, they seemed to take a less serious approach and made it more kid friendly like the old 80's format. Story lines got weaker, I really though Donatello would get all badass in Back To The Sewer like Leo did in season 4 when he got all dark and brooding.

@retrograderenegades Yeah! D: Whatever happened to the serious themes that made the original four seasons of 2003 so awesome? TMNT is a shell of a lot better when it sticks to a more "realistic" context and develops the characters instead of bringing in new gadgets...

@Faunatik I actually emailed them and asked that same question, the responded saying that the ratings were starting to get stagnant and that the licensees weren't happy with the darker direction the series was taking. So in attempts to boost ratings and please licensees (like corporate whores) they made fast forward which ultimately failed in increasing the ratings and said the show was put on hold indefinitely after the special they had with the old turtles meeting the new turtles.

@retrograderenegades Wow, thanks for the info! I WAS hoping they had an explanation for this... Well, I'm not surprised to learn that FF didn't increase ratings, 'cause it's actually where I gave up (in an attempt to keep only the memory of the really cool show it used to be). The problem with TMNT is that they try to stick with the kid-friendly approach, while the real fans are all teens and adults (and the comics WERE dark). They should mature with their audience and KEEP it, I say.

@Faunatik I felt exactly the same, I couldn't stand FF any more. They're moving to Nickelodean either next year or the year after and making a new cgi cartoon like the most recent movie. Since it's going to be a Nicktoon I doubt we'll see any dark storylines. I agree they should've kept it darker to mirror the comics, I thought the 2003 turtles were far superior to the old 80's cartoon.

@retrograderenegades I agree with both of you when it comes to TMNT 2003 series. FF and BttS were just to keep it partially alive but it just wasnt the same. And i knew that the Turtles Forever movie would be the end once i found out that Nick owns it now. I bet that this new series is gonna end on a cliffhanger just like Wolverine and the X-men...smh

@NeiyonSpyder The only Nicktoon with serious story lines that I really got into was Avatar. I think Nick does better with comedy cartoons so I doubt the new turtles series is going to be anything special. It seems like Nick and Disney are buying the rights to these shows and then are either not continuing them or make them worse. I wish fans had more say over a product than licensees and corporations since they actually WATCH the product and know it.

@retrograderenegades Yay! Someone else who believes the 2003 TMNT are way better than the old cartoon. I can understand that some people grew up with that version and all, and it was rather funny sometimes, but in my opinion, nothing beats the action and the character development in the first seasons of the new series. The show does have some great humor, but I love it mostly for its serious aspects.

And I liked the 2007 movie, but I'm not sure what to expect from the next cartoon either...

@Faunatik When I watch the original turtles cartoon I cringe at the childish humor, I loved the character development of the 03 series. Instead of using comedy with a little action they used action with a little comedy and I really got into it. Sure nostalgia is fun at times but I like deeper story lines they were closer to the darker comic series

The early new show was great for older kids and even adults, because as opposed to the old one, which consisted mostly in visual gags and unbelievable stuff happening, the 2003 version made the "ninja" of the title mean something. There were still humorous parts (and good ones), but it definitely had a much more "epic" feel, and you really got attached to those interesting characters. Now, it looks like they're back to the childish kind of "surface action"...

@retrograderenegades Yeah you never saw the turtles in the original cartoon master stealth or take their training serious. They were all kind of goofs. In 03 they actually made Leo a warrior and Raph was bad ass as opposed to the sarcastic 15 year old. I would've loved to see what was going to happen after the ninja tribunal season since that was technically the 5th season but we'll never know now.

Did parents complain that the first 5 seasons were too dark and violent or why did they change everything so much?

The first 5 seasons got so many exciting, dark and great storys but both Fast Forward and Back to the sewers has not even been close as fun or exciting as the first 5 seasons yet.

I still like the show of course but it does not feel as exciting or fun to watch as it used to be before Fast forward. :(

Should the show not have been more popular before Fast forward?
