Get to Sector Z and save the ship. For Z, you have to beat the toxic level without tripping a searchlight. For the toxic level, you need to beat the underwater level only (I think). For the underwater level, you have to gte over 100 hits on the level with the space mechs. For that one, you fly through the rings on the water at Corneria.

You're half right. Most cartridges do have a 511 limit on the score counter, but the first version of the game that was bundled with the Rumble Pak didn't have this limit.

I was lucky enough to have this version as a kid, but never knew about it until I started highscoring the game.

The six times you got hit (might've been more) I kept wondering why you were so lucky in not losing a wing, one of which when Falco ran into you while you were fighting the boss. I hate it when that happens, Peppy flew into me while I was fighting the alternate boss on Corneria on Expert mode, and I lost my hyper lazers 'cause of him...

Anyway, I realized it was normal mode when I saw Fox without his shades, it's been awhile since I've seen that. Either way, expert or not, very impressive score.

Well, no copy of Starfox will actually retain scores over 511 in the rankings screen, since there's a scoring glitch that subtracts 256 from the score

EX.) You say you had 641? It would appear as 385 (641-256). Strange thing is, the low 500 scores above 511 will show up as a high 200 score, but show a medal next to it.

Yeah, it was a programming limit that was overlooked in the first version, so it messes up your rankings list (out of order).

But future versions of the game cap the score right at 511. So be glad you have a limitless copy of the game at all.

i made my own star fox soundtrack and i used many songs from the halo and kingdom hearts series to play on each stage as well as boss fights and everything. For this particular stage, i decided to play Earth City from Halo 2 soundtrack. It fits really good, i highly recommend it. Area 6 has great music, but this addition will not disappoint.

Dang... that's insane! My high score in Area 6 is only about 450... you started with a lot more bombs that I usually do, though. Those sure come in handy.

Anyways, one little tip: Instead of shooting one by one the missiles launched by the boss, just charge your laser, and wait until the last possible second. If you time it right, you can nuke the entire ring of missiles (except one) with one shot. Also, you can just hide in the upper-right corner of the screen while the energy beam is active.
