Putting in my own two cents for me this is an attempt for japan to boost their shitty xbox sales over there, nothing more, and it all depends on your taste of music. I like this kind, apparently for most of the xbox(microsoft=america=american players with american tastes) community, the songs arent any good even though I've heard most of them(so too must others who like this kind), and i like this style of gameplay more than dance central, imo, Dance Master>Dance Central.
The reason why I prefer Dance Central over this is because it's just too chaotic on the game interface on this game. The fact that you only have to follow the green shadow in order to do combo takes away the intention of dancing also, as illustrated in this video. (You can dance if you want to, but don't have to.) It's just not as easy to pick up when compared to DC. DC, you just get up and follow the screen and start dancing.
With that said, the music on here is NOT BAD AT ALL. <3 Japan.

Dance Masters maybe couldn't be successful like DDR was, but keep on mind that DDR is completely different fom these new "dance like a school-girl" games.
Of course, both Dance Central and DM Evo. are different and everyone has their own likes and dislikes but seriously don't ruin it for the others. I mean I hated dancing because I couldn't dance until these games came out. Dance Central was more simple and I love playing DM because of the music they make + fan of DDR.
People aren't seeming to realize that Dance Central is more for the American HipHop/RnB/Electro crowds it seems. Dance Master is catering to the crowd who previously was working with DDR/ParaPara/TechPara. Because it's Benami, NOT Harmonix like Dance Central, it will cater to the crowd who are interested in the dances that are popular in the old Japanese clubs, maybe with some new or more time relevant material. (Nite of Fire is oooooooolllldddddd)

@Acid4Pixies I agree. Also, I feel that the dancing in DC looks much more feminine and even with close friends I can't help but feel completely awkward trying to mimic them. I really like the "match the pose" idea DM because it's like you can dance however you like in between doing the poses.

this doesnt really help new dancers for the steps its just strike a pose and win basicly i own dance central and i highly recommend it it teaches you the steps and everything i can dance crank dat and i didnt even know how to do the steps
@alphonsom Sounds like Dance Central is too easy then. Oh, and you can't just "strike poses" on the higher difficulty settings for this game. Some songs make you move your feet in rhythm while keeping your left hand in some position while performing a gesture with the other hand. If you want to get a decent grade on the higher difficulties, you have to learn how to do the choreography.
of course the family didn't like me getting dance masters only because the music isn't their forte, they like hip-hop, rap, club music so I'm usually playing alone b/c they do not like dancing to songs they don't know. I like hip-hop, rap also (to a very limited extent, meaning most of the new hip hop music I hate with a passion) but I just prefer the techno type beats
As a HUGE DDR player, definitely love Dance Masters, when I first played it I stunk up the air with failure, but hell if I let that stop me, I practiced the song I failed over and over until I could pass it & get a good grade.
Dance Masters is definitely tuned into the DDR community or those who like some pop, trance, electronica, things of that nature.
Personally I like the challenge and enjoy it, brings a whole new level of dancing difficulty beyond expert essentially that I shall master! >:O
Dance Central is cool but it has like 20 songs that's about it and it's the same stuff you always here on the radio most of the time. @moonrkr I doubt DDR is going anywhere, the dance pad is far more practical in an arcade setting, and the games and setlists are incredibly cheap to make compared to this. Harmonix already said to expect higher prices for Dance central add-ons. These dance games require alot more work on the animation/motion capture departments(expensive), where as somone can set up a DDR song with a track and a keyboard to throw down some arrows. Though me... I aint lookin back. Hurray for real dance moves.

Briefly watched a few Kinekt games none are accurately representing the users movements. it feels like the fighting game has predefined moves that corresponds to your closest actions. This dancing game would have been better if it simply showed what you were actually doing.. disappointed. my first glimpse of the kinekt looked promising as it seemed to immitate your movements with very minimal delay. I dont think anyone should pay full price for a bowling game. Should be free with Knkt.GAYindeed

They clearly stated that all you need to do is the final move to win points which tells you that its not representing all their movements. @invalensname If it simply showed what you were doing it wouldn't be a game, it would just be you having a seizure, and you don't need a game for that. Both this and Dance Central are GAMES< therefore they're about scoring points for doing what you're supposed to do.
In a sense, it does represent the user's movements. Yes, you're copying what the character on screen is doing, but it captures you at that moment, and if you're not doing the move correctly, the kinect represents that.
@baixiaolang I agree with what you are saying. i may be wrong with my first assumption of what this game is about. However if the whole game is based around specific moment in the dance then i would say that it is dissapointing. It would make more sense if you eventually had to follow all their moves. Even better if you could see a ghost version of your own movement on top of the video you are trying to copy so that you get a real interpretation of whats going on. Isnt that what Kinekt is about?
@invalensname Did you actually watch this video? Because you DO see a ghost version of your movement on top of the video. The game even takes snapshots of you at the scoring points so you can see what you were doing and see why you didn't get the perfect rating.
...And you do eventually have to follow all their moves...the higher the difficulty the more parts of the song they rate you on.
@invalensname Uh, yes you do have to follow all of their moves. You realize they're playing on the easiest difficulty right? If you want to have a decent grade on Extreme difficulty, you have to do just about everything the dancers on screen are doing to make sure your combo doesn't break. Also, that mirror image you can see of yourself is switchable. You can have it on or off, it's entirely your choice.

And after looking at dance central more I can see that it does have an actual choreography. But I still don't see it as much as a challenge as Dance Masters. I like how vague your response is...and judging from your profile obviously you'd like dance central more...

this doesnt really help new dancers for the steps its just strike a pose and win basicly i own dance central and i highly recommend it it teaches you the steps and everything i can dance crank dat and i didnt even know how to do the steps

@alphonsom Sounds like Dance Central is too easy then. Oh, and you can't just "strike poses" on the higher difficulty settings for this game. Some songs make you move your feet in rhythm while keeping your left hand in some position while performing a gesture with the other hand. If you want to get a decent grade on the higher difficulties, you have to learn how to do the choreography.

of course the family didn't like me getting dance masters only because the music isn't their forte, they like hip-hop, rap, club music so I'm usually playing alone b/c they do not like dancing to songs they don't know. I like hip-hop, rap also (to a very limited extent, meaning most of the new hip hop music I hate with a passion) but I just prefer the techno type beats

As a HUGE DDR player, definitely love Dance Masters, when I first played it I stunk up the air with failure, but hell if I let that stop me, I practiced the song I failed over and over until I could pass it & get a good grade.
Dance Masters is definitely tuned into the DDR community or those who like some pop, trance, electronica, things of that nature.
Personally I like the challenge and enjoy it, brings a whole new level of dancing difficulty beyond expert essentially that I shall master! >:O

Dance Central is cool but it has like 20 songs that's about it and it's the same stuff you always here on the radio most of the time. You guys need to understand that dance masters is made for a certain demographic of people. If you like j-pop and trance you will enjoy this game. If you believe that I have a guide to show you how to unlock Sephiroth as a playable character in FF14, takes about 3months of work but it's totally awsome, i got screens... There's no way i can say this without sounding like a fanboy, but this holiday season anyone stepping to harmonix in the rythm game genre looks like a nutcase to me. Power gig anyone? Still this games probably fun, and Konami always does great on thier music list.

@moonrkr I doubt DDR is going anywhere, the dance pad is far more practical in an arcade setting, and the games and setlists are incredibly cheap to make compared to this. Harmonix already said to expect higher prices for Dance central add-ons. These dance games require alot more work on the animation/motion capture departments(expensive), where as somone can set up a DDR song with a track and a keyboard to throw down some arrows. Though me... I aint lookin back. Hurray for real dance moves.

Briefly watched a few Kinekt games none are accurately representing the users movements. it feels like the fighting game has predefined moves that corresponds to your closest actions. This dancing game would have been better if it simply showed what you were actually doing.. disappointed. my first glimpse of the kinekt looked promising as it seemed to immitate your movements with very minimal delay. I dont think anyone should pay full price for a bowling game. Should be free with Knkt.GAYindeed

@Steedius Turns out your blind and deaf. Read carefully before you respond with childish comments. I can see that they are attempting to follow the moves which they were pretty bad at. They clearly stated that all you need to do is the final move to win points which tells you that its not representing all their movements. This game is simply about trying to immitate the computers moves which is simply shit. Watch your mouth in future you are clearly the one talking without thinking first.

@invalensname If it simply showed what you were doing it wouldn't be a game, it would just be you having a seizure, and you don't need a game for that. Both this and Dance Central are GAMES< therefore they're about scoring points for doing what you're supposed to do.
In a sense, it does represent the user's movements. Yes, you're copying what the character on screen is doing, but it captures you at that moment, and if you're not doing the move correctly, the kinect represents that.

@baixiaolang I agree with what you are saying. i may be wrong with my first assumption of what this game is about. However if the whole game is based around specific moment in the dance then i would say that it is dissapointing. It would make more sense if you eventually had to follow all their moves. Even better if you could see a ghost version of your own movement on top of the video you are trying to copy so that you get a real interpretation of whats going on. Isnt that what Kinekt is about?

@invalensname Did you actually watch this video? Because you DO see a ghost version of your movement on top of the video. The game even takes snapshots of you at the scoring points so you can see what you were doing and see why you didn't get the perfect rating.
...And you do eventually have to follow all their moves...the higher the difficulty the more parts of the song they rate you on.

@invalensname Uh, yes you do have to follow all of their moves. You realize they're playing on the easiest difficulty right? If you want to have a decent grade on Extreme difficulty, you have to do just about everything the dancers on screen are doing to make sure your combo doesn't break. Also, that mirror image you can see of yourself is switchable. You can have it on or off, it's entirely your choice.

@MushushuDX sigh you not at all, maybe the sound track is fun to listen to, but other than that the game is pretty bad mostly since it doesn't have you actually do any of the moves from the dance that you see the avatars do in screen its just poses and have your hands follow the lines at certain points
