@mrcmoes i guess if you live somewhere cold that is possible, but this goes very quick and its the easiest beer ive made yet. you should be able to see, hear, and even taste the fermentation. when its done it will not be so sweet and it will have gone completely flat if u wait too long making it necessary to add a bit of white sugar to the bottle to charge the carbonation process. you can control the alcohol content as you wish.
@mrcmoes i like to brew in a container that has a pour spout at the bottom so i can taste it as the days go by. the natural carbonation is very nice and its great to experience the changes of the brew
As a suggestion, instead of putting a tube into a glass of water for an airlock, try using a little vodka instead of water to insure nothing contaminates the brew.
its like this.... the longer you let it brew.. the more sugar is converted into alchohol. so a shorter brew time will make it sweeter and less alchoholic.
explosions are common... must remeber to put the lid on loosely or build an airlock... just some cork and tubing going into a glass of water,... you want no air to get in, but have a way for it to escape. personaly, the 1st few days, if im just using a lid.. i burp that baby a few times a day. just uncrew the lid very quickly to let the buildup out. i had a bit of explosion a few weeks ago because the jug was too full. helps to leave some air space at the top. very rewarding proccess.

wont it take much longer like 2-4 weeks to ferment instead of 3-5 days?
