  • FUNKY

  • Takes me back to SIU-C'dale and the "sets" at the Student Center,University City

Recreation Hall after sets and parties at the K appa house in '73&'74.

  • Rip the audio from this song at tubepull doht cohm.

  • Starting at 3:13 a rap song called self destruction used this not sampled but they took the concept..................Anything James Brown is connected to is funky

  • Don't forget that George Clinton and some members of Parlament were members of James Brown's Band also before they formed their own group.

  • in my own opinion, nobody has been more influential in music than James Brown.

  • Fred and Maceo were two horn blowin MoFo's

  • @MrDSmooth56 'are' they're still going! i saw Maceo at the O2 with Prince in 2007, and coincidentally exactly at year later at Brecon Jazz festival.. Fred was on tour last jan in London but unfortunately i missed it. :( Saw Pee Wee Ellis at Brecon Jazz this summer... i'm gradually working my way through the JB's!!!

  • Roll that beautiful Nixon footage. They used some special fx to remove the steak blood from Nixon's mouth. "Breakin' bread with my NIxon breakin' bread with agnew breakin' bread"-edited verse from Breaking Bread from Fred Wesley and the JBs.

  • put the brakes on f9s

  • Supreme DJ Nyborn - Versatile.. thats probably the track you mean.

  • To 'a6foot6 ': You say that James Brown wasn't a great singer or dancer. I disagree. he may not have had a trained voice, but he was a fantastic singer with a rough voice. As far as his dancing, what do you mean he wasn't a great dancer!! He may not have done many different styles but his unique style was unbelievable!! No one else has ever moved their feet that fast

  • "No one else has ever moved their feet that fast"

Muhammad Ali, maybe.... Gotta love all this old school stuff and it it figures...

  • What seems to be missing is any mention of the tune or the actual players...

    The JB's are the Sh*t.

    This tune is killin' it.

And James did it to death.

    funk to infinity.

  • james was a great singer

  • hey man..read the rest of my comments befgore you makfe a comment...James Brown was great...this is my fav album of all time...Just like all the greats he had flaws too. Look how they are idolizing Michael now. 2 weeks before he died they were ready to string him up physically and mentally.

  • James Brown was the baddest cat to ever grace a stage. And he was definately a one of a kind.

  • NO DJ, James Brown wasn't the best singer etc, but his band was tight and he had the forthought nto go out and get the best he could find. That was his genius. Ever hear the thought that you ndon't have to be the best but surround urself with the best and you'll succeed. Jame Brown was on the far side of funk. Nobody was doing what he was doing until Funkadelics came along and some of the things they were doing was just too far out for me. James brown invented the funk genre.

  • James was down right funky. We were blessded with what he gave us. James brown tought the whole world how to funk.

  • @a6foot6 James Brown may not have been the best singer or dancer - although he was just as good as, say Otis Redding. But he was a showman and that made all the difference. He made the music a spectacle, not just a show.

Don't forget there was a world of New Orleans funky soul at the same time as James Brown - he's not the only one!

  • this hiphop hiphop come from the 70's thats y the beat rock like that its was just call funk or soul or disco ya dig thats the roots of hiphop and rock got alot 2 do wit the makin of hiphop pop 2 lol

  • added it to the collection!!! gold

  • yes love this beat one of the most sampled in hip hop can't na,e the rappers who sampled this

  • @michelle2837 Special Ed - The Mission

  • Yea...this is my favorite song because it was the first. James Brown really wasn't a great singer or dancer. He was a great interprter of his style. He was like all great leaders, he didn't worry about what people thought. He just went his own way. But, he had help and like most people during that time he didn't give credit where credit was due. In his own band he treated accomplished musicians like employees. That's why he lost most of them. I think I'll put some info on my profile.

  • "James Brown really wasn't a great singer or dancer"

    WTF

  • You are crazy as hell. Where you think Mike got it from? James brown was the epidomy of soul and everybody that came up around him and after him took a peice of what he had to better their own acts.

  • Dude, the word you're looking for is 'epitome' and if you notice I was quoting someone elses comment.

You don't need to tell me about James dude, he's my favourite musician and performer ever.

  • This is my all time favorite song. I can remember being on the playgground and shooting hoops to this album. That band made James Brown famous. They didn't get enough credit. Up until recntly Maceo Parkerwas in Prince"s band. Amazing...

  • ohhh yesss!

  • low profile sampled this in 89 one of the funkiest jams ever a shame james brown's entire catalog ain't recognized.

  • GIVE ME SOME BUZZ & I B STRIGHT!!

  • Gimme some bucks!!

  • pureeeeeeeeeee Funkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!
