  • "They say Death catches up with all of us but I guess he caught up with Death instead." I can't remember where I read that but it was rather appropriate.

  • That anime there makes me feel old as dirt...and I'm only 29.

  • That's how story telling should be done, not drawn out/over done with drama. Straight forward. NO FILLER. I saw this and Ira the legend of zeirem when I was a kid. It got me hooked.

  • Damn this is like if ninja scroll, blade runner, f-zero, and akira all fucked this would be the kid.

MTV needs more shit like this, fuck reality TV

  • Love the violin at the end. If anyone knows if that music is available or what the title is, I would great appreciate it.

  • Can you believe MTV used to have taste?

  • This floored me when I first saw it...still does!

  • Whenever I played F-Zero as a kid, I always remembered this short.

  • I love this anime! So dark and wonderful and visceral and beautiful and haunting....

  • omg thank u sooooooo much for uploading this.

  • I definitely prefer the reporter's voice in this version, but the other version has the extra violence put back in.

  • man that was some intense imagery! I remember seeing this once on liquid television too when I was really young. I remember seeing a lot of crazy stuff on that show. I love anime now too especially the old stuff and I recently found out about Neo Tokyo which brings me full circle back to this again. great thanks!

  • i wish i could find the soundtrack...I can only find the neotokyo source mod one :(

  • @DAFTBONCHKOOPA do you have a link for that one atleast?

  • My favorite kind of animation/anime style done in PERFECT form. This was a nice surprise for me. I am mind blown.

  • One of the finest pieces of animation I've ever seen, next to Akira, its one of the reasons I fell in love with anime.

  • loved it thank yo for the great memory of liquid television

  • This was in the original version of robot carnival. I've been looking for this for ages! Its not even mentioned in credits.

  • Man, the old stuff is something I really miss. Now its all androgynous pretty boys with oversized swords and predictably perverse humor. I miss hi-tech, beautifully drawn explosions, .....that was part of the allure for anime to me in the early 80's.

  • Thanks for posting!

I first saw this on Liquid Television.

It's called _The Running Man_ by Yoshiaki Kawajiri.

There's some more information on wikipedia: Liquid_Television#Fifth_episode_2

  • tinkertracy, a big thanks to you for that information.

I really appreciate you going to the trouble to let me know. Thanks again.
