She loves Brandy and Monica equally. Who knows why Brandy was chosen instead of Monica. Whitney wasn't the only producer on that movie, and maybe Monica didn't want to do the movie or she couldn't do it for some reason. Whatever the reason, Whitney recognizes both their talents.

Monica is a good singer. She's a pretty girl, with a good voice. But there's nothing outlandingly unique about Monica. You don't hear producers or songwriters going on and on about her vocals, or what she does in the studio. She comes, records, does a lil run here and there, a little belt, and keeps it moving. That works for her. IMO, Brandy is more creative vocally and musically than she'll ever hope to be. You already know what to expect from Monica. A deep fried lean or a deep fried ballad.
