  • Thx, Marissa, glad you liked it. I'm posting part 2 shortly. I did a tour of Hyde Park Barracks where convicts were imprisoned back in the early colonial years. Plenty of interesting artifacts like whips, ball and chain, padded cells etc etc.A sadist's delight...lol. :)

  • Interesting! Right before you said it, I was thinking, "That's just like in Canada!"

  • G'day Andreas. Yes our constitutional arrangements are basically the same as yours, being Commonwealth countries. It has it's benefits though i'll be glad when Australia becomes a republic. Good to hear from you, mate!

  • 3rd play here...rooftop garden at 6:32! :D

where I see the arcade is part of ze grand structure. Your quality looks fine.

  • Thx. The qualiy was better until I converted it to divX format to save space. YT needs to increase the file upload size to 200 mb, imo. If LV can do it...

  • Thoroughly enjoyed, Saint. You know I could soak it all up all day long (the Queen'll never get an invite to my overgrown garden tho lol). What a rich step back in your history, thank you. What is the arcade building? Oh, and ze orange bottle-cap female sculpture noted at an appropriate musical point...very quirky playful 'Aussie' sounds there, mate :)

  • LOL Actually I prefer gardens be let to grow wild and free but Govt House is very colonial in the English way so manicured everyhting is to be expected. The arcade is called the Queen Victoria Building. A superb example of Victorian architecture now fully restored. It's like walking through a museum while shopping. Glad you like the music, "buddy" lol, I think it works well with the images. :)

  • The interior decoration is very colorful yet tasty. I like that!

BTW you don't have any accent, right? At least I had no probs at all to understand you.

  • Jazzy!! Good to hear from you. The interior really is something special. Very regal, kind of British old boys port and cigar club. Me have an accent? Nah I sound like everyone else.. ;)

  • Now I payed you a compliment. I watched a few Australien TV shows lately and I didn't understand very well.

Anyway, I'm always impressed by the diversity of your continent; it's an interesting and amazing mosaic of different land forms. And so big!

  • Your footage quality is very good, don't worry. And you would never get me out of that beautiful garden.

  • And the views! The gardens overlook the harbour with yachts sailing by under clear blue skies. Just superb.

  • One day I am coming over there. I just have to.

  • I will take you on a personally guided tour of all the old convict prisons, haunted mansions and fine gardens. You can go snorkling at the great barrier reef then finish of the day with a good old fashioned Aussie barbecue under a clear and starry southern hemisphere night. You'd like it down here....

  • One day I might have to find out!

  • Yes still in Sydney. Being transported back to Melbourne in late November. ;) Glad you liked it!

  • Since the queen doesn't live there, they ought to make it a museum to the reign of queens past, or would ya'll not like that?

  • Government House belongs to the people (so we are reassured) but it's used by the Governor of the state of New South Wales who acts on her behalf. The Queen is a ceremonial figurehead thus so are the state governors who have no political power. Government House is a kind of museum that allows public access on certain days. Frankly, I think the Queen and queens past get more than their fair share of public recognition so I doubt Aussies would go for a memorial museum as such. :)

  • Thank you for taking us along! It is fascinating and love the archetecture, and your accent. Look at the history in that place.

  • You're welcome. Just a pity that Government House was closed, the interior is quite breathtaking.

  • State Parliament looks like a hotel ? that's why the ministers think it ok to take their girlfriends back for a quickie .. but I'm pleased you like our old city buildings , what's left of them that is .. I've never taken a tour of Gov House, something I must rectify .. I love all of that stone and the craftsmenship that went into them, i've worked at cutting stone by hand and it's an art .. Really enjoyed it mate .. Thanks.

  • LOL I think the decadent surroundings lend themselves to a little naughtiness on the sides. It was so plush and immaculately preserved I felt I'd been transported back in time to a scene out of a Jane Austen novel. Have lots more footage to show. Took some of Hyde Park Barracks, convict cells and law courts etc you'll like.

  • I want to see the jail, as you know. lol

  • I'll post it next week. The last pic in this video is the convicts barracks of which I took plenty of footage inside and out. You'll like methinks.

  • looking forward to seeing more ..

  • Got some good footage of a cat o nine tails whip and other convict artifacts. Have you been inside Hyde Park Barracks?

  • no I've never been, but I should, it's just pure laziness on my part ..

  • Love the architecture. The interior, wow. Our government buildings seem so stark in contrast, like 40's film noir, lol. You'd almost expect guys in fedoras walking around. The early colonial stuff here, though, a bit similar. Flashy where there was French & Spanish influence, a little more sparse with English influence. Great tour! Fascinating stuff, man.

  • Thx, Chris. The influence here is overwhelmingly English- mostly Georgian and Victorian period. The interior of Parliament House was a gob smacking eye opener, I felt like I was a time traveller, everything preserved as though new. I have a lot of unused footage, particularly of Hyde Park Barracks where convists were held. I'll post some of it next week. Cheers, mate.
