  • Seeing these old clips has been an inspiration to work harder on my guitar playing. Amazing footage!

  • WOW this is really cool! would to play like that.

  • I bet Neil and Chet Atkins would have made great music together. I can tell Chet had a big influence on him, as he did on thousands of guitar players. Neil is great on this tune.

  • Soooo nice!!

  • I have just discovered Neil LaVang and I love his music, amazing musican.

  • influencia para el creador de mario bros?

  • Just great.

  • awesome ! Even the whole band is smiling. I'm going to listen to this each morning. This Makes me feel happy.

  • I am still enamored by this video of dad. His time feel is sublime. His technique is off the charts and his smile is infectious!

Thanks again for posting TVC! ~ Mark LeVang

  • @momsfudge59 That's your Dad? That's awesome! Does he still have that guitar?

  • @momsfudge59 I hope you still have some of your dad's guitars.

  • Jazz on a Jazzmaster? Cool!

  • Chicken cackle my foot............this guy was the reason my Daddy finally relented and got me an electric guitar.I had to promise I'd learn to play like this. What a great player!

  • His little finger is longer than my index.

  • @ddayiv he really has thin long fingers.perfect for playing guitar or piano.

  • Looks exactly like my old jazzmaster. Neil has some seriously heavy gauge strings on that thing.

  • @LeDoctoer Whats funny was, back in that time you just bought strings pretty much. It wasn't what 'Gauge' you want? Strings like Black Diamond (still made today I guess) were the norm, if someone wanted lighter gauge strings they had to get them off a banjo, (sometimes done by the early rock and roll guys). I've seen on one of the sites this might have been a proto-type Jazzmaster or a early example at least. They were cool guitars though!

  • @DynaflowDonnie Yeah, I used to use Gretsch flatwounds back then. Later on we discovered that you could move the b to the g position, the high e to the b position, and use a tenor banjo high a in the high e position. This allowed bending notes without tearing your fingertips off.

  • Neil is amazing! He always looks so happy.

  • Welk was a jerk but LeVang and Merrill were super talents.

  • Just too cool!!!!!
