I think its just a beginning, ofc season 1 sucked, but what do we know? They've already met alien race, which is quite aggressive and we know about a race, which created a star system with planet. And if you've watched episode 1 of season 2, there is more answers about that race, but still lots of questions. Ofc we can't change the fact, that SGU is more based on drama than action.
Geesh, the more I see this series the more I hate it. I get enough "human" realism on the nightly news. It's young. It's edgy. And it's crap. I think people have just forgotten what good entertainment is. This is nothing but a Battlestar Galactica rip-off and we'll see how many seasons it goes. Amazon shows it having 89 1-star and 39 5-star reviews. That should say something! Meanwhile, I'm getting tired of rewatching the old ones and I've stopped watching the Sci-Fi Channel almost completely.

Do you remember episode 200 fo SG-1? Ok, stupid question :D Well, SGU looks like the young SG-1 in 200 ep... I'm going to start watching SGU (as soon as SG-1 will end in my televioson;SGA I ended earlier) but I have a very bad feeling about this SGU...
Most of them died on the planet yes but Lt scott sent a kino back in time with recordings of what had happened so they could prevent it from happening again, they changed their timeline basicly..
Also they used the stargate (the wormhole was disrupted by a solar flare) to send the kino back in time. Thats also why they couldn't get back to Destiny in the first place.
@sirn1ght they didn't die :) they left a kino of a recording for themselves back in time of the cure for the virus thing. Watch the ep. again, its complicated to explain, but basically when jumping through the warped gate, they go back in time, but leave the kino there.
This major plot line of becoming lost in a far universe with an unpossible journey home reminds me of the succesfull startrek voyager series, which i really enjoyed btw. I just dont know yet if it is a good steal or a cheap ripoff... I'll let you know in a day or 2 when i cought up the first 9 episodes :)

It's a different DIRECTION than the other two. They were good in their first seasons and then they turned TOO family/comedy orientated. If you want to watch how stargate should have always stayed as, which is a realistic, gritty, non childish show, This is the one. Don't listen to morons like Nosveratu86. Stargate universe is new and different, But its most definetly in a good way i assure you. If you like family childish crap like SG-1 season 9 and 10 then re watch them & shut the fuck up.

Right. They only used the stargate setting to have everything already worked out which is in one way nice, having familiar background and technologies thrown into something completely different. But this show has nothing to do with the way of SG1 or Atlantis and would had been better if was in it's own universe, not the SG one.
Will you guys shut the hell up! This show is awesome. If only all other Stargates had the same camera style, directing and ACTING like SGU. The only bad thing I found so far is that Destiny looks a bit too rusted up for something that was supposed to fly through the vacuum of space, but it's just a detail to make it feel older so no big deal. Story is fresh and cool, special effects are better than in other SGs and the cast is a hell more talented than the old one.
Supermaajka, R u joking? By far, the best acting is in SG-1. No one in SGU comes close to Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping and the other actors in SG-1.... I do agree the camera style and the story line is pretty interesting.
The "old" guys had that attitude "been there, done that", no matter what situation they found themselves in. It was the reason they always had time to make a lot of witty jokes, but SGU cast do it more realistic and behave more like real people do and they do it great. Don't get me wrong, I love all SGs but I kinda get that feeling that it took a few seasons for SG1 cast to get into the right "mood".
Then stay the hell away from SGU if you don't like it. No one want's to hear you complain about something you've willingly watched. It's both redundant and idiotic.
Didn't liked the SU at all. I am a sci fi fan for the last two decades, there is no sci fi series I haven't watch, and I can say for a fact that Stargate Universe lacks severely in scenario, plot and especially casting. With a few exceptions, most of the actors are boring. Comparison with the great Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG1 in unavoidable and most people already saw the differences. I expected more.

Voyager didn't really make use of it's premise of two conflicting crews far from home in an unknown part of space.
SGU has done more to exploit the premise in five episodes than throughout most of Voyager which is strange as the whole "lost in space" angle isn't the main point of the series given they have contact with Earth and more.
The original stargate SG1 is the best in the series.I think this series will be a disaster,an insuccess.The ex-characters were very good,this new characters are not matching for SG characters.

The latest episode was not as abysmal as the first ones. There was still the lame dialogue and the soap opera moments but now something else actually happened. And they finally got rid of those emo songs they liked to spam in the first episodes.
Of coarse the way the ship got powered is beyond funny, but i guess i can forgive one ridiculous concept in a SG series.

What was so funny about it. it actually makes alot of sense, A star is essentially in the most basic definition a Massive fusion reaction in space so powerful it is impossible for us to calculate how much energy one contains. It would make sense to use them as gas stations. Frankly I thought it was very clever and visual very beautiful.

the 4 episode kinda sucked. Because interesting things come at the end of each episode but they never appear in the next ones again. Universe is more like a drama and less of science fiction. All those people whining and bitching in the shows is annoying.
I loved the movie at the cinema despite finding that the new world through the gate was just another Egypt!! . Found sg1 too cheesy at start, altho I heard it got a lot better in later series and Atlantis. Wish I had stuck with it.

Agreed. Carlyle is doing a great job. For once (and don't get me wrong, I love the original series) the acting in this show is starting off good and strong. Surprisingly enough, I love this show, but hate BSG....huh. Must be that SGU knows how NOT to overdo it.

True I loathed the idea of SC1 when I head they were making a tv series from the movie and I didnt like the peep in Atlantis till s2 so Im sure ill warm up to it... but less Battlestar/whining and more adventure and some bad ass aliens (despite reports that there will be no big bad like they did with the previous shows)
If you can not notice it, they are obviously leading up to something big. And so far the acting has pretty damn good, especially Carlyle (of coarse), and the kid acts pretty much exactly as he should be given his situation, as well as everyone else. This Stargate is awesome, can't say it's better than the ones before it yet, but i'll bet anything it will turn out totally fucking epic. The ONLY thing that bothers me is no zero gravity (like when the power went off), shoulda happened.

Well, the basic concept of Stargate has remain instact since the Stargate movie, each stage has it´s own flavour and they all have been nice, let´s give "Universe" a chance and see how it develops, let´s wait before we judge, after all, we have the same SG1 and Atlantis Makers, so, it can´t be that bad ¿huh?.

I guess i could overlook the annoying score, the bad acting, and the fact that i saw some better special effects in the first season of SG-1, but what is up with those characters. I guess they wanted to make characters that people can relate to but they just went way over the line. I mean seriously, i would love to hear the back story on how some of those people got into the stargate program.
I sure hope the series will develop a solid main story, but i guess plenty of fools love soaps so...

Indeed i have made 3d animations that easily surpass most of those space scenes and other crap they had so far, i mean just look at the Gou'ald motherships in the first episode, those things look like they are made of plastic, the ones in SG-1 looked way better and that was 12 years ago...

Just finished watching all the old sg-1 and atlantis episodes so thought i'd give this a try but so far im extremely disapointed. From the first 3 episodes it looks like a soap opera in space on top of that some of the acting is just abysmal and most of the characters are completely mental on top of that. I mean seriously do the people who like this even listen to the dialogue.
I really enjoyed the movie Stargate starring Kurt Russell and also the tv series of Stargate SG1. I have all the episodes on DVD. I wish they adapted a tv series or even make a miniseries to the old RPG sci fi game of Wasteland or even to the classic sci-fi fantasy role playing games of Might and Magic. ahhhhh Corak and Sheltem. ;)
A brilliant show, we are on Episode 3 (Air: Part 3) and I cannot deny its great. More about Doctor Rush's background, and also more character development. Cannot wait until the next episode, if you love SGU then try Flashforward. Its a good show too.
I personally am already hooked on this show. The oldschool Stargate-series is back with amazing camera work, what seems to be an interesting cast and don't forget - a story unlike any other! They're so far away so they can really do anything, anything! I hope they act on that in some episodes in the future. I'm psyched about this show, its great!

okay, so I just watched Part III of the pilot episode (Air). someone tell me what the hell kinda ship that was that left Destiny at the end of the closing scene, and who the hell was in it! It certainly teased me a helluva lot and I don't like being teased!!

Right. They only used the stargate setting to have everything already worked out which is in one way nice, having familiar background and technologies thrown into something completely different. But this show has nothing to do with the way of SG1 or Atlantis and would had been better if was in it's own universe, not the SG one.

Will you guys shut the hell up! This show is awesome. If only all other Stargates had the same camera style, directing and ACTING like SGU. The only bad thing I found so far is that Destiny looks a bit too rusted up for something that was supposed to fly through the vacuum of space, but it's just a detail to make it feel older so no big deal. Story is fresh and cool, special effects are better than in other SGs and the cast is a hell more talented than the old one.

The "old" guys had that attitude "been there, done that", no matter what situation they found themselves in. It was the reason they always had time to make a lot of witty jokes, but SGU cast do it more realistic and behave more like real people do and they do it great. Don't get me wrong, I love all SGs but I kinda get that feeling that it took a few seasons for SG1 cast to get into the right "mood".

Didn't liked the SU at all. I am a sci fi fan for the last two decades, there is no sci fi series I haven't watch, and I can say for a fact that Stargate Universe lacks severely in scenario, plot and especially casting. With a few exceptions, most of the actors are boring. Comparison with the great Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG1 in unavoidable and most people already saw the differences. I expected more.

Not really.
Voyager didn't really make use of it's premise of two conflicting crews far from home in an unknown part of space.
SGU has done more to exploit the premise in five episodes than throughout most of Voyager which is strange as the whole "lost in space" angle isn't the main point of the series given they have contact with Earth and more.

It actually got slightly better...
The latest episode was not as abysmal as the first ones. There was still the lame dialogue and the soap opera moments but now something else actually happened. And they finally got rid of those emo songs they liked to spam in the first episodes.
Of coarse the way the ship got powered is beyond funny, but i guess i can forgive one ridiculous concept in a SG series.
Still the final 30 secs really ruined it for me, it will trigger even more soap shit later...

What was so funny about it. it actually makes alot of sense, A star is essentially in the most basic definition a Massive fusion reaction in space so powerful it is impossible for us to calculate how much energy one contains. It would make sense to use them as gas stations. Frankly I thought it was very clever and visual very beautiful.

the things that do bug me is that they do seem to cut off abruptly with no conclusion.
and what happened to those two who went through the stargate on the planet to the other planet? they said they would probably die, but then never went back to explain.I like the characters although the professor guy can be a bit much. I think they will work out the kinks.
and yes this is a copy of st: voyager just like Atlantis was sort of like DS9.

I loved the movie at the cinema despite finding that the new world through the gate was just another Egypt!! . Found sg1 too cheesy at start, altho I heard it got a lot better in later series and Atlantis. Wish I had stuck with it.
So far this has been a good boarding point for me and I'm happy as one thing that bugs me with these shows is the huge abundance of humanoid Aliens . Altho I'm worried that I'm sitting through too much character building for a show that could only last 1 series.

Why didnt they have a ZPM or Naqua generators from Icarus Base? Ofc the attack was sudden and they didnt plan to go like they did BUT one would assume that IT would happen in the same timeframe (it failed the 1st attempt which WOULD have lead to a malp and then the GO). Don't you think that the bit with the computer game was right out of The Last Starfighter? Poor casting, Carlyle doesn't belong in this, the smart alec fat guy is just annoying. If you can not notice it, they are obviously leading up to something big. And so far the acting has pretty damn good, especially Carlyle (of coarse), and the kid acts pretty much exactly as he should be given his situation, as well as everyone else. This Stargate is awesome, can't say it's better than the ones before it yet, but i'll bet anything it will turn out totally fucking epic. The ONLY thing that bothers me is no zero gravity (like when the power went off), shoulda happened.

I guess i could overlook the annoying score, the bad acting, and the fact that i saw some better special effects in the first season of SG-1, but what is up with those characters. I guess they wanted to make characters that people can relate to but they just went way over the line. I mean seriously, i would love to hear the back story on how some of those people got into the stargate program.
I sure hope the series will develop a solid main story, but i guess plenty of fools love soaps so...

I can't believe they managed to make a new Stargate series that i don't like.
Just finished watching all the old sg-1 and atlantis episodes so thought i'd give this a try but so far im extremely disapointed. From the first 3 episodes it looks like a soap opera in space on top of that some of the acting is just abysmal and most of the characters are completely mental on top of that. I mean seriously do the people who like this even listen to the dialogue.

I really enjoyed the movie Stargate starring Kurt Russell and also the tv series of Stargate SG1. I have all the episodes on DVD. I wish they adapted a tv series or even make a miniseries to the old RPG sci fi game of Wasteland or even to the classic sci-fi fantasy role playing games of Might and Magic. ahhhhh Corak and Sheltem. ;)

I personally am already hooked on this show. The oldschool Stargate-series is back with amazing camera work, what seems to be an interesting cast and don't forget - a story unlike any other! They're so far away so they can really do anything, anything! I hope they act on that in some episodes in the future. I'm psyched about this show, its great!

I think that was the point. I've seen my fair share of Stargate and I couldn't tell you what it was. My guess would be Destiny is some kind of seeding ship? What it seeds exactly I couldn't say.

I think someone or something went to go get reinforcements when the stargate was triggered and it didnt close. They gonna be in trouble later.
And yes that was an ancient that helped them get the lime!!!
