Love this... cant beat the MS6 it has such a recogniseable sound... I just posted up my first mS6 video but hope to post a couple more too... I have two of the beasts...but havent had mine modded or anything yet.
@Jontif hi. thanks for all comments and kind words. just checked your video. sounds sweet! it's underrated synth indeed. keep posting more vids! let's make it worth 500+ pounds. lol.
Great tunes! Please keep going with this little gem for as long as it's ageing CEM's hold up. Unfortuantely, I only have 5 voices left and haven't got round to sorting out the 6th yet. I have moded my Cheetah to gain 6 individual outputs though & can send a circuit diagram to anyone interested. Keep on posting your quality Cheetah tunes ;)
@andyceeuk cool. i'm definitely interested! send me one please. i'll appreciate. btw. i'm glad you liked it. i'm currently busy with samplers but i'll surely do something with cheetah again soon.
@davedagreat69 Thanks Dave... I sorted this out over Christmas thanks to Kris Maad. Also purchased a back-up supply of CEM's while they are still available. I hope to keep my MS6 working till I die!!!! Best synth ever.
@hrvatwrestle OMD used it in extend. If they used it who am i to judge? It's not a Roland nor Korg but it's equaly capable of producing complex sounds. I have a Juno 6 and my MS6 will kick it's ass to the moon soundwise. Who remembers the Sinclair homecomputer? Those who do know what happend to computing after that appeared in the supermarket. In that perspective the MS6 was visionairy and Cheetah was spot on...25 years ago. You should feed it with current now en then (lithiumbat. for memory etc
@hrvatwrestle If one should buy a MS6 you should at least be able to listen to it en fiddle around a bit. A common problem with the Cheetah was(is) that on of the DCO's just stopped producing sound for the reason I mensioned. It's not a well thought out design (who puts the data of preset patches, numbers and midispecs on top of a rack synth never to be readable when put in a 1U rack? I know Cheetah did). Don't get me wrong, I love my MS6. It's a classic.
@hrvatwrestle main problem is not finding them. The biggest problem is finding one that works. Cheetah made synths for the masses. You could buy them of the shelf in a local supermarket. Cheap made with dodgy solderingwires, loose chips and diodes. If you find one that works it's one hell of a synth making exellent use of the Curtiss chips of the exotic Oberheim matrix serie. Midi is provided but a pain in the butt (2 knobs ALL midisettings!). it came cheap but it sounds expensive even today
ah, the Cheetah MS-6. It really shines in this track, maybe because of the analog tape mastering :) Great sounds and track programming. I have one and can confirm that this is a superb sounding analog synth. Nice to hear it Youtube.
@hrvatwrestle around 200 british pounds i guess. i don't think they are too hard to find. i've seen many on ebay from time to time.however still worth of that price if u r interested in making music.
@PauloVagini paulo, there's a guy called Christopher maad who made a lot of mods for the ms6 including firmware-updates. He even made a windows editor to program it on the fly with virtual sliders. He's still out there somewhere.
