erte goes BRILLIANTLY with this symphony! just like stravinsky is evoking haydn and mozart with modern harmonies, erte evoked watteau and boucher with modern subjects. great posting, please put up more!
@jbradshaw7 well, some people haven't heard about musical forms other then songs, still nice to have them here listening to this music...that way they can learn that music doesn't mean only songs, at least i hope so...
My favorite Erte, I must confess, is found on the cover of Bernstein's recording of Mahler 9 conducting the Wiener Philharmonic with DG. It is a robed priestess riding on the back of a dragon with a Bodhi tree in the far distance beneath.
This is fascinating, the images are intimidating, unique, and grotesque. If I knew more about art, I'd be able to give more feedback, but this in conjunction with Stravinsky's music is really great. I think that the images help to compliment Stravinsky's unique neo-classical style.
With your Brahms piece the pictures allowed you to concentrate on the music, and vice-versa - they didn't clash so much. But I found this more stimulating, both visually and aurally. I didn't know anything about Erte - his stuff is amazing. Well done.

Obviously a very successful ad Campaign.

This piece was just RE-copyrighted and orchestras now have to PAY to play this piece.
These new copyright laws don't help anyone and are a disgrace.
Just thought I'd share that info.

this is the first time i heard this symphony from the great genius Stravinsky and i loved it, specially the strings at 3:20-3:24.
And, of course, the pictures are great!
