@bearsfan97: You're thinking of the Matilda mk II, most people don't realise that there were different versions of the Matilda but this is an earlier Matilda mk I ...a small 2 man crew light Infantry support tank. There are general similarities to the shape and layout between this and the Valentine but have a look at a couple of pics to compare and you'll see.
even knowing it was a bad tank and that it was lighlsy armored, the only weapon it had was a vickers Mg, then it was given a 30 cal. then it was upgraded with a 50 cal. and it was extremly cramped and only had 2 people in it. I think it was a cool tank in look, design, and weapon. i am a great fan of the vickers MG. plz do not hurase me and if i forgot anything tell me plz.

It seems like all it would be useful for is armored recon.

In France the Panzer I and II, the more numerous German armour, were not much better than the Matilda I and had thinner protection.

Welcome to 1930's tank design. Just about every country made odd looking designs, but this one certainly ranks among the ugliest.

The Matilda is a tank from the mid to late 1930's, conceived after the British Army decided to build separate infantry and cruiser tanks.

For Matilda II, it was pretty lucky, nothing could penetrate his armour, but, when the first Panzer 3 H appeared.. poor tank.

i feel sorry for the crew who had to drive this to fight german in those days :(
grantourismo0109 3 years ago
it wasn't that bad when it first appeared no german gun could get through the armour same for matilda II

@harry4468
This is a Mathilda I though.
It was still heavily armoured but ever so slow and totally lacking in any useful firepower.
Still, it is a historical machine and did pave the way for improved designs. :)

Basic shape, especially front end and tapered back remind me of the Valentine tank.
