  • much respect to all fire fighters and arson investigators . Be safe

  • Maybe the mortage companies set the fires to get insurance on homes that are not selling? Possible???

  • Earthquakes, wildfires, outrageously expensive rent....why would anybody want to live in a place like that? I've personally lived in San Diego. I left right before the wildfires hit there a couple of years ago. You couldn't pay me to move back to Cali. It's a wonderful place to take an expensive vacation, but not a great place to live. To top it all off, most of the people that inhabit California are arrogant assholes.

  • HELLO WORLD!

Respect for LA have a nice day my friends

  • Must be all the flamers. Sorry, no offense to homosexuals but I couldn't resist.

I dont understand how there can be an ocean that close and they dont do something to haul water in, or pump it in from a lake...SOMETHING! It has to smell terrible all the time with all that smoke and ash. Do a rain dance man!!

  • This could be use as propaganda for global warming.

  • To hstone39

    When will people wisen up?

Everything could be used as propaganda for "Global Warming" or "Climate Change." Even NATURAL forest fires that have been around ever since the Great Flood of Genesis. If it's too cold, do they admit that "global warming" is wrong? Too windy, weather to strange, everything's global warming, no way to ever disprove, no matter what the evidence

Eco-freaks like Al Gore are LIARS, their "science" is statist power-mad scare-tactics propaganda. Big Brother gov

  • Chelsea burns.

    under my feet.

  • snooze

  • Bailout money goes to banks who pay to destroy new homes. The FIRES do it for FREE. Saving billions in tax payer dollars.

  • Is that camp fire big enough for you George ?? could it be caused by a bunch of illegal immigrants camping out in the mountain you think ??

  • The moon is red now.

  • Back to some real news. Like I said before, that health care is but a smoke screen for real happs in the background.

  • Ut NV AZ and Calif have big fires burhing. Smoke is bad, sun is there but you cannot see the sky. You see orange skies smells like a campfire. Keep indoors and keep your pets inside. Bad to breath. Amazing video. Years ago I had to drive through fires in Utah and NV. scared the beegeebers outta me. God bless your fireman. you ROCK!!

  • The sun was red this morning. In northern Colorado.

  • well it looks like we found a solution to all the vacant McMansions in Southern Cali...

  • automatic five stars

  • Maybe the fire was set by bastards who want to collect fire insurance for their worthless houses.

  • beautiful scenery too bad it's not special effects

  • Excellent job George.

  • George, now that is really good fire reporting. You've done a good job showing conditions.

  • Early reports said that illegal immigrants were setting fires. Pissed off about losing their jobs. It could be eco-terrorists who want to burn down housing developments. It could be islamic terrorists who want to create havoc.

  • or it could just be some campers who didn't put out their campfire .. or improperly disposed smoking material ... or lightning .. or even a glass bottle at just the right angle to focus sun light on dry grass.

Speculation with prejudice is bullshit. Let the FD and CIS do their job. If it's political, you know they won't be telling us the truth anyways.

  • It could also be wood nymphs lighting farts..what's your point?

  • lol

  • I bet the government is involved with the creation of the fires.

  • couldnt be closer to the truth sniper!

  • Wow, those fires looked intense. Thanks for the video and please be safe!

  • I vote all the fires are set by persons who are somehow making a profit from it. Seems to be the trend in this world lately.

  • There have been firefighters convinced of doing this in california so they have a job. I would imagine now with the economy people are more eager than ever to do it.

  • Amazing video. Be safe!

  • How many home owners let their insurance go? With the economy in its current situation how long will LA carry this scar?

  • burn in the clensing fire.

  • I just read that they are gaining ground on it and they built a 12 mile perimeter with bulldozers.

Weird how people weren't evacuated around that fire though and you were allowed to get that close.

  • To skyding8962:

No, I don't think it weird, that they don't evacuate the people so much, as you indicate maybe they should?

People are their own sovereigns, I believe each and every human life to be sacred, which means it should be more up to the individual, whether they think they should leave or not.

People have a right to relax and watch the natural forest fires grow, or to stay and defend their homes. People used to be self-reliant, fighting disasters without Big Brother government "help"

  • No I never said they should do anything. I was just surprised that you could get that close to the fire. Maybe they had directions that the fire wasn't headed that direction.

  • To skyding8962:

Or maybe for a change, the government is busy minding its own business, rather than everybody else's?

One thing that recently occurred to me. How is it that government can't get containment of a wildfire, until it's massive? Because finally the weather cooperates? Or isn't it really, that the wildfire has about burned itself out naturally, and along comes government, wasting about as much taxpayer money as they can get away with, to steal away the credit for natural fizzling?

  • What caused the fires?

Should I conclude that this is domestic terrorism? Were there alot of homeless in the hills?

  • haha these are the hills east of hollywood in north LA, very nice. any areas on a hill over looking LA is expensive. and brother, i don't know if you have been to out skirts of LA or the central coast, all the brush is just waiting to go up in flames. so dry it is not brown, the stuff is gray. anything can start these things. cigs out the window, glass bottle on the ground, some dumb ass camping, maybe it's a pyro, but no conclusion can be made

  • THANKS

  • Most of the hills is just bushes. They hardly have any trees in these hills. Im not sure whether bushes instead of trees makes it worse or better. It might make the situation better because the flames cant grab onto something as high into the air and send embers farther.

  • this guy's one of the best journalists. *****

  • Great shots... this is more like it. Thank You!

  • California is finished. The economy is in complete shambles. Companies and citizens are fleeing, and with the major earthquake that's about to hit - well, it will be empty except for the illegal Mexicans, gangbangers and politicians. I hope they enjoy each other's company!

  • yes, California is finished. And with other States and the whole USA close behind. What will be the main trigger to ignite the socioeconomic collapse of American and with Martial Laws and Fema camps? And factoring in what has happened and is continuing to happen. Possible trigger or combination of triggers: staged or actual assassination attempt on Obama, bank holidays and runs, the pasage of Obamacare, the forced vaccinations..plague breakouts, stock market crash, or even the Rapture.

  • I agree. What's happening in California is a forewaring of what is about to happen nationwide. Fortunately I'm ready. As ready as anyone can be. Knowing a trap is set is the first step in avoiding one. Hyperinflation hitting in a year or two is another scenario, however I believe a perfect storm of disasters are just around the corner - some of which are the ones you listed. Study California to see what to expect.

  • So a fire In Los Angeles is an example of the rest of the country? Let me guess, you flunked the SAT analogy section.

  • Let me hold your hand as we go through this junior:

    1) The fires are a natural disaster exacerbated by fools who built houses there. 2) The economy of California is the result of incompetence & leftist ideology that thinks government should spend money on every problem because every problem is the government's problem. 3) We have similar mismanagement in Washington (and other states) that are leading to an economic meltdown. Impending natural disasters will only make things worse.

    Ok, junior?

  • Nope sorry. The fire has nothing to do with that or anything else going on in America for that matter. You need to get a clue you idiot.

  • Uh huh.

Looks like I ran into another 5 year old trying to play with the grown ups.

Run along little boy. Run along...

  • You failed.

  • To jgdesign:

California and the U.S. going bankrupt, is due to the evil communist/marxist/fascist politicians, who puke problems all over the place, then have the nerve to offer up bogus solutions, that amazingly enough, only empower bigger government, and rob the people of their freedom.

    The Hegelian Dialectic:

    Problem - Reaction-Solution

California fires are due to them voting for tyrant Obama. If they had voted right/repented, maybe it had been better? When will some blogger exclaim this?

  • Great coverage. Thanks George.

  • damn..how much California can take?

doesn't these fires cost the state lot's of money, to pay firefighters and other unforseen expenses?

Hey Georgy Pooh, how many X magnifications is your camera?

  • This a real cataclysm---not swine flu.

  • To Melville10:

Yeah, swine flu wasn't nearly as harmful as the NWO cabal conspirators that bioengineered it, hoped it would be. But I would rather call it Obama flu, since tyrant false messiah Obama likes to take credit for everything good, and Bush-bash anything bad. When will these false liberal fascists own the problems they are brewing?

Obama flu is about scaring the people, mainstream misleadia news hype to push bigger profits to Big Pharma, forcing mandatory Big Brother gov vaccinations!

  • get a bag

    of marshmallows

    and go toast em .

    .. balance your budget

or we burn you down ..

  • George; Like MaybeCominsoon says Be Careful and Get a Face Mask Please!! especially you plan to continually report on this story. There are plenty fo retailers on the Net that would have the face mask you would need. Take Care!!

  • To albc1964:

I doubt that a face mask is necessary. Much of the smoke goes up into the sky, and people with video cameras or who report, probably don't have as much exposure to the fire, as firefighters who we presume would have much of the equipment they need?

At least for short terms of exposure, it may be not much worse than standing around a smoky campfire. A forest fire is much the same, only larger?

Besides, face masks don't do much, and a gas mask would be a bit costly and impractical?

  • Well, once the fire runs out of fuel, that should be the end of its newsworthiness. Fires and California are kind of synonymous by now.

  • Becareful with the air up there George, you should get a mask at least, if not an actual oxygen tank/mask, that smoke will cause long-term lung damage without you even realizing it, at first...

  • Yeah no kidding, good point. Use that HAARP for good. Sadly I don't see that happening. Nice of you to say you would help out :) Keep them in your prayers please.

  • i bet some marijuana farmers loose their weed too

  • lol

  • marijuana growers losing their pot harvest ?.........just inhale deeply...lol.......

  • one way to cure the housing crisis

  • Got marshmallows?

  • Be careful G4T.

  • Amazing coverage thank you.

  • LA Fire Devastation - Ridge Homes 100 Yards from Fire!

Incredible video! What kind of camera/camcorder are you using to take this clip?

    Thanks, Gail

  • I feel so bad for the people in that area! WOW... I wonder how much this is going to cost the BROKE state of California?!!!

  • Joe.....you are so right. I never thought of that, thanks.

  • The biggest mistake is that they don't do a burn off throughout the year....so the underbrush builds up and this is what happens.

  • TBA-from what I understand, budget cuts have meant a severe reduction of forestry crews and burn-off activities throughout the year. That is one of the reasons why the fires have been so destructive in recent years.

  • True. It's just sad people actually live in these parts now. 15 years ago it was all vacant

  • To TBA4Freedom:

I'm not so sure they can do set burn off you suggest. Would be possible in the past, but now the population is so much larger. And if all overgrown forest was burned off, wouldn't that be too much smoke? And "controlled burns" can get out of control, and that's a liability and lawsuit concern.

Can't prune brush everywhere, too expensive.

Summer growing fires are inevitable, in places where fireprone weather causes, and so we can allow better fireproof homes and landscaping?

  • The firestorm is a metaphor for what is happening to California & America.

George, you gotta be working 24/7 with reports on Protests, diasters and your great economic commentary. Your a great American dude.

  • Good insight and metaphor.

Damm, should of came up with it myself. Oh well, as Snake Plissken said in Escape From LA: fire in the hole!

  • Nice reporting George!

  • It's fire season...and people build on every square inch possible in California. Then they wonder why this happens?

  • Its so sad.

  • nice shots

  • Maybe some of these fires are deliberate as to avoid foreclosing on their homes and gain home insurance? It would not be beyond the realm of possibility.

If youre late in your mortgage payments and your house is insured for a lot of money. Perhaps a fire destroying a house you can no longer afford, and claiming back insurance money is not such a bad thing?

  • excellent point. who's to say that it isn't the banksters themselves setting these fires. its a stretch, but since they're getting away with everything else at this time.
