This was one of Jerry's finest hours by far..1987 was a fantastic year for him and the band. Soulful...absolutely...Heartfelt..Redundant...God I love Jerry...Miss him more every year that passes....
yes indeed. i think this was a little over a year after he came back from his 5-day diabetic coma...and still, he was always so good at bridging worlds, wasn't he...
It's funny, Jer' said that one if the things that he wanted to do before he died was to actually learn to play the guitar. He wasn't joking. I think he never really thought of himself as having gotten to where he wanted to be, musically. We all benefitted from that constant striving on his part.

For a Christmas concert, they really could have worked up some better, more seasonally appropriate songs. They must not have had time to practice, and just decided to play the same old moldy tunes they all knew. deadheads don't care anyway.
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I like Dylan doing it more. I still think Guns N Roses version was the best though. To each his own I guess, but thanks for posting it.
Love it, miss him...them... So so so much.

This one teared me up, it's like somewhere inside, Jerry was feeling his journey coming to an end and it came out in his craft!

Jerry's solo on this is amazing. Boil him down, on acoustic, and you still have that magnetic vortex that he could create, over and over...
thanks forever, rest in peace, go with love. . .
