The Mets have signed K Rod! That fills a huge hole in the pen! Im pumped up about getting the all time saves leader for a single season with 62 saves! Mets still have more work to do in getting another starting pitcher, corner outfield and middle relief. If Omar gets this done, than the Mets once again should be the favorite for the N.L East.
nah, a corner outfielder is not needed. we have too many outfielders, all of which are mediocre. we need to dump a lot of the mediocre ones and sign a big name.
A corner outfielder is needed! Daniel Murphy before getting injured in winter ball was playing 2nd base & will be groomed for 2nd or until some miracle happens & some how get rid of Catillo contract. Ryan Church is a nice player in right, but left field is a mess! I know the Mets resigned Tatis, but he is old & cant expect him to do what he did last year & Nick Evens might be used in a trade & his position is 1st base. METS NEED TO UPGRADE IN LEFT FIELD & are also not sold on Fernando Martinez.

You know, the Mets can sign more players, another pitcher, and whatever they want, but if there's no chemistry between the players, you don't win a championship. Championship teams are formed, not bought, although, I do agree that the Mets filled in big holes by getting K-Rod and Putz for the 8th inning.
But as of now, the Phillies are still favored to win the division and go back to the WS because 1.) They're mentally tougher than the Mets, 2.) They play with heart, 3.) They World Champs.
Let me tell you something, if Wagner didn't go down the last month of the season, the Mets would have won the N.L East & you wouldn't be talking about chemistry & thats a fact! The Mets problem in 2008 WAS NOT LACK OF HEART, it was because the freakin pen COULD NOT GET ANYBODY OUT! Now Omar goes out and gets 2 GREAT relief pitchers to address the pen woes and I doubt very much he is done. Also the Mets were the favorite in 2008 & most likely they will be the favorite in 2009 for the N.L East.
They were also favorites in 2007, and look what happened there...this is what it comes down to...now that the Mets have an elite closer and a really good 8th inning reliever, they're going to need to go out and get another pitcher to back up Santana.
But when all is said and done, we'll have to wait until next September to see how they do, because the Phillies play their best baseball when it matters most
All Mets fans know we need another starter, but right now the top 3 are not to shabby. Mets got Johan, Maine and Pelfrey (who is turning into an absolute stud) as the top 3 guys. The rumor is the Mets will resign Ollie Perez & than you would have Niese or Parnell for the 5th starter....Not to bad! Mets got the open wallet & are not done upgrading. Look for the Mets to bring in a power corner outfielder & more pen & starting pitching help. another thing, the Phills are very quiet this winter?
Yea, the Phillies have been relatively quiet because they're considering all their options. The Phillies are't able to compete with teams like the Yankees and Mets, in terms of Market, plus, they have 10 players eligible for arbitration. They're trying to acquire Derek Lower, from LA, to solidify their pitching. The want to bring Moyer back but he wants a 2-year deal worth 10+ million a year, and that's a big risk to take. They're looking for a replacement for Burrell, as well.
what number will he be for the mets
